The other big advantage over the classic is the orientation of the blade and scissors. On the Rambler, they point AWAY from the key ring, so it's easy to use these blades for quick cuts while the knife is still on your keychain. On the Classic, the main blade and scissors point TOWARD the key ring, so it's sort of a pain to use them quickly, especially if you have bulky car key fobs etc
@@CERTIFIEDFARTKAISER Their size makes them ideal for keychain carry. I carry my manager on my keychain. Best most useful tool I posses. Yes it does scratch up the sides but oh well. I don't carry it to look at it.
Agree 100%. This seems to be a huge oversight on the Classic. Also the file rubs against the knife blade slightly. The Rambler and Manager series got it right for sure.
SAKs are brilliant. And regardless of the steel snog brigade the steel used by Victorinox holds a nice edge for edc tasks and are incredibly easy to resharpen. The tools hold into place nicely and I’ve used them more times than I care to remember on everything from opening toys to stick in yet more fresh batteries to taking off and replacing doors. Just bought my 5th...
For me the best is the ''MANAGER''. It is like a rambler + a ballpoint pen and it still remains appropriate for any pocket, because the difference between them is only 1,5mm!!
Rambler has both tweeters and toothpick Manager has ball point and either carry tweeters or toothpick - both supplied but space for one only. Manager Lite ball point and LED light no tweeters or toothpick
That Phillips head works on my sunglass screws as tiny as they are. To give you a comparison I’ve also used the little flathead that fits it the corkscrew on those same screws. I’ll have to try the Rambler on larger screws I’ve never even thought to try it on bigger screws! Thanks.
Good job, keep up the good work. He didn't "over pay," he paid for convenience. 😊 The $33 is worth the superior services that Victorinox offers anyways.😊
I love my Rambler, it's always on my keyring and never leave my house without it. Incredibly useful. I actually got another for a spare part box of my electronics hobby too where it comes handy. Thanks for the heads up on the screwdriver, i've never thought it'd be useful for as a PH2 but now it will.
Rambler is available direct from Victorinox in 13 different scale colours including transparent red and transparent blue. No discount, but comes with packaging that is idea for a gift. You can also add text to front and back scales as part of the service.
This is the one I've been carrying for a couple years now. It is a great small EDC knife with all the common everyday tools. (Although, I do carry a regular sized flip blade style knife too.)
I agree these are a great tool Rob...I used to always carry one the SDs (the case on the clear ons alway breaks)- I shifted to carrying a Leatherman - I like the addition of the pliers especially when I travel. Thank you for a cool video :)
If you don't like the toothpick I suggest you get the Firefly fire steel it makes these little keychain multi-tools that much better and you can take the nail file and very nicely take a metal file and make a 90° spine so you can light your ferocium rod which fits in the toothpick slot they're awesome they're making for the 91 mm the 111 mm and they make them for the SD classic keychain size
Great video! SAK use to be a common passion between watch lovers. I've just found one 58mm Classic with a Spring Bar remover tool instead of the nail-file tool. Will be a nice addition to the Victorinox with a Watch Case opener that I own.
All of the LED flashlights will be fried, destroyed when an EMP hits them 🔦 You should ALWAYS carry an incandescent type of flashlight as a backup to your LED flashlights !
I want this to replace my old Squirt S4 just for the phillips. The flat phillips on the leatherman is very poor and can't handle much torque. It also tends to slip in larger screws. The bottle opener looks more substantial as well. This has every tool I use on my leatherman, just as good if not better in execution.
I lost my Victorinox Huntsman given by my late grandfather when we went to a lake yesterday, aghhhh, im looking for replacement as i realized not all features are used, and I think is is a great deal. Im still a bit sad as thats like a remembrance from him
Any Victorinox you carry will remind you of him. Check out Compact, Mountaineer, Ranger, Champ and consider the Executive 74 mm. Depends upon what tools you do use. The file on the 91 mm works on metals and softer materials and still does finger nails. Scissors are so useful and you still get two blades and both can opener and bottle opener. Compact is a little odd - nail file is on the back of the multipurpose hook.
Hey Rob, appreciate the review. Maybe I missed it, but I didn’t hear any mention of the fact the blade opens away from the key ring on the Rambler vs toward the key ring on the Classic SD. Just one more plus for the Rambler, especially if you have your knife attached to your keychain together with your keys.
** I stopped carrying my Leatherman 'Squirt' multi-tool because it is not strong enough as an Every Day Carry. When the springs break in the Squirt the pliers and scissors become useless ! Many people have had the springs break in their Leatherman Squirt. ⚠️ For some reason Leatherman discontinued their Squirt multi-tool.
Great review on a great tool. I got the Classic SD on my keychain, next to my Gerber shard, that does have a bottle opener, 2 flathead and 1 Phillipshead, a wire stripper and a prytool. Both in black and together they cost the same as the Rambler, but I still love the way SAK made that multitool.
Honestly man! I don’t see why they won’t do that! The classic SD is great and all, but damn this is a great upgrade! Probably costs then a couple bucks at max
I can't tell you how many of these small Victorinox pen knives have been confiscated from me by TSA because I constantly forget to take them off my keychain. Doh!
I know it’s pretty useless, but I’d love to see if Victorinox could one day make a version of the file-SD with the ruler print on the back (probably infeasibke and no point whatsoever, but still)
No. There is a no blade model that is meant for that, however it is TSA discretion to even take those. Never push your luck with TSA it’s not worth the hassle.
@@RandomRobReviews My Rambler was confiscated by TSA last week. Forgot to take it off my key chain. I researched key chain knives again and I am going to get the Rambler again. Amazon told me that I have already purchased it 3 times.

I still wish they would orient the tweezers and toothpicks on the key ring side, makes it harder for them to slip out
I really dig the camera and it’s zoom, works great
I love the Rambler. It has almost all of the Super Tinker tools, just smaller, plus a nail file.

The smaller Classic SD for $15 is a great little knife also. I use it more than my Paramilitary 2 when I'm carrying both of them.
Just got the Rambler a few days ago, never saw this model until a week ago by chance on Ebay, it is the perfect Victorinox set up I always wanted.
Best feature of the combo tool: it is magnetic. Remember this when you lose a screw under some piece of forniture or a key in a manhole/draingrid
