What a fun clip!! Soupy's reaction upon taking off the blindfold by itself is amazing, combined with Garry's funny disguise, and the panel's general confusion, makes this a great clip. Thank you so much for uploading this!
How often do you see a TH-cam clip of an old Goodson-Todman panel show where two of the performers are still living (Rita Moreno and Jim Bouton)? R.I.P. Larry, Garry, Soupy and Arlene.
Garry Moore and Jimmy Durante were the hottest team on radio in the mid to late 40's. When TV started they were both offered their own individual shows. I'm surprised that Blyden didn't know that.
I never understood this either....For years they kept the same order...Bill, Peggy, guest, Kitty....It always seemed like Kitty belonged in the last position because she always got the greatest ovation because of her outfits and personna...Saving the best for last, as it were...
@tvtimetravel Well, the first ever mystery guest, if you mean going all the way back to the original, was Phil Rizzuto. The first one on this version was, I think, Joan Rivers.
GSN seemed to love to put their two shows back to back when the G-T shows returned in 1998. So one night, after TTTT was over, viewers were in for some Moore of Garry. :-)
What a great post. Our beloved Gary!! I'm pretty sure this was from an AM taping, definitely in 74. Please, if you or anyone has Milton Berle and/or Sammy Davis Jr. from late in '74 please post. Thanks again and again.
Did anyone ever notice that What's My Line always had Soupy Sales in seat number one and Arlene Francis in seat four. They rarely sat in different seats. On To Tell The Truth, they always mixed it up. You never saw Bill Cullen, Peggy Cass and Kitty Carlise in the same seat. Why was this????
Garry Moore was probably the finest announcer/MC that ever lived. He had style, class, and intelligence. He was an original!
Most definitely!
@@bluecollarguy67 Definitely!
yes

Garry Moore was a cool dude.

now RIP Jim too
Long live Rita, she turned 92 today
What a treat to see three of my favorite people on this clip: Garry Moore, Rita Moreno and Jim Bouton. Incredible!
He did a very good imitation of Churchill.
Garry Moore looks exactly like William Hartnell in this clip.

I'm a fan of What's My line? and it was a treat to see rare clips of the mystery guest segment. Thanks for sharing.
I love this trick voice that Gary was performing..he sounds like..Sir Winston Churchill.
Lk
Jim is former baseball pitcher for the New York Yankees, turned sportscaster at the time, the author of the book, "Ball Four," Jim Bouton.
A shame we lost Larry Blyden so young and soon
Agreed. He was an underrated actor. Died tragically in that freak car accident in Africa.

R.I.P. Garry Moore
I keep thinking that Garry used to hang around with Robert Stigwood...
Garry Moore was never the MC of What's My Line. That was John Daly and he was the last mystery guest on the original run of WML.
The only tv game shows that Gary Moore hosted were:"I've Got A Secret?" and the syndicated"To Tell The Truth".
To Tell the Truth was taped in the same NBC studio.

that's funny cause garry moor was also the last mystery star on his run as MC of what's my line
tsukune007 That was John Charles Daly
To date, Garry/Joe's version of TTTT is the longest running, lasting 9 years.
Actually, Bud Collyer's version was on 12 years.

Bill Cullen wasn't on TTTT, it was Tom Poston. And they did have a regular order---it was Tom, Peggy, Guest, Kitty.
MrThesper Bill Cullen did appear on TTTT in the '70s version.
the syndicated WML, the first syndicated show to air 5 days a week?
Larry Blyden in an auto accident in 1975 at the age of 49.
Yes..We lost poor Larry in a car crash during a race in the Middle East back in the mid 1970's.
That's incorrect. He was vacationing in Morocco in June 1975 and his rental car went off the road in Agadir and he was killed on June 6th.
@@bluecollarguy67 And he had just shot the pilot for the game show Spinoffs, which was later hosted by Bobby Van.
yeah, he stopped hosting To Tell the Truth into 1977, this is from 1974
Thanks, I was wondering when this was filmed. Television was great then!
@bradgandy02 Rivers or Joel Gray.
His explanation for how he disguised his voice was rather lengthy, no?
Are you in a hurry?
