Having previously built a mid-range gaming PC with the black Fractal North for you guys to check out, I was excited to give the white version a go too with a different approach! This time I opted for liquid cooling and the brand new ROG Strix 4090 white edition. The aesthetic results are nothing short of breath-taking and I genuinely don't think even my video brings it enough justice!
First of all, let's just address one thing... If you plan to fit the Strix 4090 or 4080 (they are both the same size), you will have to swap out the screws as shown in this video. The GPU does span the entire length of the chassis but isn't actually touching the front fan. With that said, airflow is still plentiful and as shown in the video temps are great too (within Ryzen 7900X tolerances! it's a hot CPU regardless)
For this build I really wanted to drive that 'winter log cabin' vibe. The Noctua fans worked really well for this, bringing that brown/beige look from the front of the chassis across the rest of the case, whilst also delivering excellent cooling performance.
The Deepcool LS520 CPU cooler has proven to be more than adequate keeping the Ryzen 7900X in check. Through my extensive testing I didn't get close to thermal throttling once. Max temp spike recorded was 85c and that's well below AMD's guidelines.

To wrap this up, the Fractal Design North takes a traditional chassis design and adds a unique touch with the wooden intake fins on the front panel. This isn't restrictive for airflow which in turn allows the case to breathe, keeping hardware cool and optimal. I really love the ease of access to all areas of the case, the leather pull tab detail on the top panel is a nice touch, cable management space is fair given the case size and the overall build process was most pleasurable.
Overall, I'm totally stoked and this case! This build may even find it's self as my new studio editing and gaming rig!

Yes, an 850w PSU is sufficient for a 4090 provided that you’re not overclocking the GPU & CPU etc. Always check the manufacturer power requirements for your own peace of mind first… 1000w would be better for breathing space if you like to tweak, but if you already have an 850w, for example, don’t feel pressured to upgrade in the event you have no intentions to run heavy clocks. This system has been running flawlessly for 4 days now in the most demanding games.
Given that the PSU is of good quality* 😉
Also make sure that your mainboard doesn't do weird stuff to the powertargets of your cpu, my MSI Board comes stock with a 253 Watt Powertarget for a 13600kf (Intel rates it for 181 Watt), don't want your system to shut off just because your mainboard decides that the cpu should draw way more power than it's originally intended to do.
Just note it won't be as efficient or cool running near max capability compared to a 1200/1500w psu. Poor 4090 being squashed😄
I got a 1200 for my new build only because it was cheaper than the 1000 I wanted

I have never seen Noctua brown actually tie in with a color scheme so well before. Stunning.

FYI for anyone else building into this case, the solid side panel on the front comes off so you can actually fit your GPU without issues. Just unscrew the thumbscrew up top and it comes right out.

that front white panel on the side, where the window is attached to: 8:42 - can be removed, so you can fit the gpu normally.
İ really love this case and I want to build. But I’m confused a little. My GPU is 4090 and cpu is i9 13900k. The CPU runs so hot and this case thermals are good for it? What do you think?

When my 19 yo son wanted to build a new PC, that was is biggest requirement ... NO RGB!!
This is great man, been eyeing this case for my new rig for a while now and this is exactly what I was envisioning in my mind, a warm, white build with minimal RGB, and the usage of those gold/brown colors goes so well with the case!

Thank you for this video! I have something very similar planned but in black instead of white, to match the black Fractal North case. I'm hoping the darker brown on the Noctua fans will match the wood slats just as nicely as they do in your build. The case is sold out everywhere (at least in northern Europe), and the ETA for the next batch is April 2023, just in time for the 7800X3D to be released. Having just had to reseat a 4090 in a custom built computer -- looks like it was jostled a few times too many under transportation by a third party -- I have to say that I wish I had thought of finding smaller screws. The Fractal Design big screws are a great idea in many cases, making it a cinch to just tighten them by hand, but the 4090 cards do _not_ leave any room to speak of and it was a real bear to get them back in once the card was reseated.
Beautiful build for what's easily one of the most beautiful mass manufacture cases I've ever seen.

Makes sense too, for a gaming PC you really only need a high end GPU (and then only if you're gaming at 1440/4k) everything else can be mid range or even low end with minimal impact on performance. Good way to keep cost down.

How is this not high-end parts? RTX 4090 highend, Ryzen 7900x highend, X670 mobo highend, even the Ram is highend.
@@nekogod You need a high end cpu for a high end gpu even at 1440p and with 4090 at 4k also. Unless you want to sacrifice like half the performance and waste your money completely on such gpu.
@@jondasek You'd be surprised, obviously a really weak cpu will bottleneck your gpu but you don't have to go super high end. At high or ultra most modern games will max out your gpu long before your cpu becomes a problem even with a mid range cpu. The difference between say a 5600 and a 5950 for example will be minimal in graphically intense games, you will notice it in games that leverage the cpu more like factory games etc
