Great movie, loved it for a long time. They even almost made a video game, only the demo was ever released (but it was very difficult to play). The movie though is damn iconic and too unknown.
May be biased because I grew up with this movie, but I enjoy it, the story's interesting, the characters ooze personality, the only thing that holds it back in my opinion is the Dredge, I'm not sure if it's ever really explained why the Dredge have a hate boner for humans, that they'd hunt them across the galaxy, but a little bit more time actually spent with them would have cleared that up.
I remember the trailer showing for this in theaters and then the movie never came. I had to go sailing to track it down. I remember it fondly. It also lives in a bit of a weird headspace for me because the look of this movie has overwritten the graphics of a couple of old lucas arts games. So whenever I think of The Dig or Full Throttle, my translate them to look like Titan AE, much like Klaus looks like how I remember Monkey Island 3
@@theaveragecritic3308 i did. There is this movie I can't find anywhere and nobody talks about, all I remember it that it was animated and there were these ghostly tentacle monsters that if they touched you they pulled your soul out of your body, maybe you can find it.
😊 great times - we have a VHS tape from a pre-screening and it’s got incomplete scenes where the colours weren’t filled in, including black & white line drawings etc.
I liked this movie when I was a kid, never saw it full, I think I saw it on Golden Edge while changing channels, the first part was already over, but I liked it, it was just a fun action movie. Then I forgot about it, never saw it in my local blockbuster. 2 years ago I saw it (pirate), and I liked it, just fun action. But I really liked the idea of the humans now being a refugee species roaming the galaxy without a home planet, and all the stereotypes commonly attributed to refugees now reflected on all whats left of humanity, even though this are clearly BS (cause they tend to be just BS). I also liked that the kid is meant to save their race, but, not because of a prophecy and all that BS, but because his father in a last attempt to save humanity gave him a backup key to the machine, it was a hail Mary chance and it worked.
Loved this movie when i was a little girl, Akira is badass (bi awakening?🙈) gune is the best, agree that the characters are very flawed but that made the movie interesting for me. They all kinda suck in a hypermasc way, but it's not purely celebrated it causes them many problems and pushes the plot forward.
There's a deleted scene you can watch on the DVD that fills in a huge gap in the plot, which I wish was left in.
Oh no way! I’m sure it’s on TH-cam somewhere I might check it out
I saw it as a kid and loved it.
Awww those films are the best when they stick with you

Yeah I heard about the game. I bet it would have been sick!
I've always had a soft spot for this movie, ever since I was a child. It ain't perfect, but it never fails to entertain me.
Mate that’s awesome! Those are the best sort of films

Yeah I forgot to mention this but yeah I feel the dredge are just this weird enemy when they could have done a much better explained villains 🤣
@@theaveragecritic3308 agreed
Off topic, but the Dredge look like Soundwave from Transformers Prime (or at least, he looks like them).
🤣🤣🤣 I always thought they look like one of those adverts for a toy in the 90s 🤣
Yes I did and I LOVED it!!
Wow! Awesome! Is it a favourite of yours?
It was an amazing film watched it every chance I got when I was younger definitely underrated
Yeah I can feel this film getting better for me overtime
