I completely agree with everything you’re saying because it’s crazy how much they cost. I buy carhartt and Duluth because it’s more affordable and the product is great for me and I’m a truck driver. But if I spend money on filson, it’s not gonna be for work lol

Have you worn them both in the rain? I can't imagine the Carhart would be near as water resistant as the Filson. I do think the Filson is over-priced but when they run their 30-40% off sales the Filson I think would be a winner. I think Filson may go out of business if they keep their stupid high priced import builds as their go-to.

I think it's relative, but I wouldn't say it runs large at all. For Foul Weather Hoddie, small size would fit me perfectly, but I can pull off the Medium as well. It appears baggy, but especially with stuff underneath, it looks and feels absolutely fine, doesn't appear oversized on me at all. However, with something like Down Cruiser Parka, I can't even wear Small because it looks ridiculously large on me and I look like a lost kid.

This jacket is extremely baggy on me but the length is perfect. There Xl in this jacket would fit my chest size. Unfortunately I didn’t know that until after I bought it. Plus I bought it on sale. So the sale was final.

You can totally waterproof the Carhartt the same way you would rewax the Filson.
It is now 50% off at Filson.

What about the sizing ? Did u get a Large ? Or did u side down ? Size guide on filson make this jacket seem to run HUGE.
Runs large. As long as you don’t have long arms and don’t plan to layer heavy a size down would be fine.
