On TMBTE (the album this is from) Vessel does all of the singing, piano, bass, guitar, and even some production. While II plays and composes the drum parts. For live performances they're joined by touring members III (bass) and IV (guitar), as well as a female vocal group by the name of Espera. I'm not a musician, so I couldn't say if they're using any harmonizers or anything but Vessel definitely gets up there in live performances. And in studio recordings he records & layers his vocals in different registers and for different effects.

I had the life altering pleasure and privilege to see this band live, and… yeah. Vocalist, Vessel I, does indeed hit every note and take full advantage of his (insane) range. He does the full composition for each instrument aside from drums, which drummer Vessel II writes and plays. They are joined on tour by Vessel III and Vessel IV, as well as vocalist group Espera. Espera are amazing on their own, and if I’m not mistaken have projects of their own which I’ve heard fantastic things about. Loved this reaction and would love to see you react to The Room Below live performance by them. It was so intimate and raw and really showcases the artistry of Sleep Token. Worship
Just to tack on some other stuff I can’t help but yap about lol I think this band is incredibly special for not being afraid to stray from the standard templates for a song. They tend to change up the number of verses, choruses, add or forego a bridge, entirely so the opposite of what you expect but somehow do exactly what you didn’t know you wanted until you knew. The success behind the project likely comes from the soul. The amount of love and passion put into Sleep Token’s discography is genuinely astounding. Vessel cries *often* during live performances and you can even hear him cry or get choked up on some studio recordings, and it honestly just adds that much more. It’s never out of place or uncomfortable, you just *feel* with him so much even if you can’t know exactly what he’s been through. I also think that despite the band being a token of offering to their own fictitious deity (Sleep), they do an amazing job of drawing in people of all backgrounds and beliefs. I don’t have to believe in their Higher power to know that they are the most unique musicians I will ever encounter in my lifetime. It’s such a blessing, really.
There is so much you would love about this group and YES. They are far better live than I could have ever imagined, and the drummer (two) breaks it down and plays live for a Drumeo interview (which was a huge deal because the band never does interviews)! Great reaction! Subbing now!
All I can say to you is that it's over now. You are on the hook and the journey has just begun. Don't fret my friend, there is much more music to enjoy and celebrate. I started on this Sleep Token journey a few weeks ago (on Father's Day, I think). Well, I haven't stopped listening since and my wife is getting annoyed! I'm 50 and love 70's and 80's music. This band is the shit. Yes, that guitar solo totally had a jazzy vibe (maybe even a little prog rockish). There is so much more coming that will blow your mind. You might even shed a few tears at times. Finally, the vocals are the real deal. No better vocalist on this planet and he does it live!
So there’s vessel main vocalist and lyricist, II percussionist/ god tier drummer, IV guitar/some screamo vocals depending on the song, III very sassy bass boy in the concert as you can see lol and last of all, espera the 3 insanely beautiful back up vocalists they all form the perfect band no one plays a small part they all if you will lift each other up in a sense
Welcome to the life of Sleep…seeing them live in May was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. They’re incredible. ii (the drummer) is a beast, so talented. And Vessel’s voice is as if they’re playing off the album, beautiful. iii and iv are so talented and have such sassy moments. You don’t want them to be without the masks bc it makes it so much more interesting.
Definitely follow up with live performance. Also, Drumeo HAS featured II (the drummer) absolutely incredible drummer, this song was one that he performed at drumeo with an added drum solo he performs live. Definitely look those up man. Amazing musically gifted group.

All ima say is I love that he’s the same as me, we analyze and think about every little detail the ghost notes in the drumming, the screamo or falsetto and what not in vocals the pinch harmonics in the guitar and bass, they all come together beautifully to form a masterpiece of a song when executed perfectly chefs kiss 😘

Drumeo have a video with the sleep token drummer, you should react to that. Any live performance is also ace, I was blown away by how good they are live, there are some good video's of the red rocks gig they did recently.
There's technically 4 members to this band. Although really it's just 2 members Vessel I and II, with Vessel (I) being the singer/vocalist and II being the drummer. Then there's III and IV, respectively III on the bass guitar and IV on the guitar. However, III and IV are live show playing members only, they are not involved in the song writing process in the studio. Sleep Token's song are only written by Vessel and II, Vessel writes the lyrics, the melodies, guitars, bass, pianos, sound FXs, atmospheres and everything else except of the drums which are of course written by II (the drummer). And all those harmonies of overtones you were hearing is all just Vessel singing in different harmonies using layers over his main take and then mixed-in on the studio version, but it's definitely not 10 singers or anything like that, it's just Vessel singing and doing his thing ;).
Would love to see you react to more Sleep Token, but that's obvious because they're my favorite band. Love your break down, and focus on the drums. The drummer, known as II, won Drumeo drummer of the year 2023 as well as several other awards. There are multiple Drumeo videos of II playing & breaking down his techniques & gives some insight on his influences. Live Sleep Token is a completely different animal to record Sleep Token because obviously Vessel can only sing one of those ten harmony layers at a time when live. Unfortunately I've not been able to see them live myself, only recordings, but based on that they are more organic and a lot more intimate when live. The overall feel is very different from album versions while technically the songs are the same. It's not that one of another is better, they are just.. different. Worship.
It's of course all veiled in secrecy but my understanding is that Vessel can indeed sing those high notes. So quite often what you are hearing are layers upon layers of him singing over himself and then mixing and producing it to hell and back. He sometimes uses effects on his voice, but he does not *need* them to compensate for lack of skill or range.
