Great Video! always try carrying 2 buckets at once. If your not strong enough, split it into 2 half full buckets. It evens out the load on your spine, so your not being wrenched sideways. Your back will thank you in 30 years. Best of Luck, keep up the good work.........................

The entire bird is easily utilized. Leftover skin can be frozen until you have collected enough to render into schmaltz, possibly the world's best frying oil in the history of the universe. The feet are probably the best part for making stock and should never be tossed, they look hideous but the flavor, color, and texture from the rendered collagen is amazing (once they're rendered in the stock pot, they can be disposed into the mulch bin). Thanks a lot for the video.

now what did you do with the leftover bone, what you want is to put them in a pot of water and boil slowly for many hours, and you make chicken stock you can and put away until you need it

I just want to say that I'm sorry I didn't watch y'all's video. The reason is because I just butchered 35 chickens myself and I just did feel like watching a video on butchering anymore chickens. I'm looking forward to you watching your next video as long as you're not butchering anymore chickens.

Right on guys great job you will love the birds. So nice to have meat in the freezer knowing that you raised it free from all the junk. We have been doing our own chickens for 5 years about 170 birds total. We have 30 now waiting for second week of Sept I have al ways kept mine in the coolers same way for 24 hours and need to check on the 48 hour deal. I really enjoy your channel and keep up the great work see you on the next video 🐔🐔👍

I've been watching you guys for a while now, and been wondering if you guys were gonna cross the threshold of survivability or not. After this video, I can say you are crossing that threshold now. Once you learn how to process your own meat (check) and store it without electricity long term (You still need to attempt this) and can build your own shelter (check) you can make it on your own. Next attempt should be storage without electricity in the event you are cut off from it.

Brilliant video I quite like the thought of putting a taste test to the table buy a shop chicken at about the same weight as one of your birds and then cook them in the exact way then get a couple of well known TH-camrs for the judges say the Johnsons and another couple then see what tastes best and you could do a rough price comparison as well. Keep up the good work.

I totally love that you are sharing this. ❤️ You both will be pro's in no time. There is nobody that's more of an animal lover than I. This is though a crucial part of life that needs to be seen. We need to get back to families doing this together. I remember as a child. Many families would get together and have butcher days. Many hands make lite work. Then all shared in the harvest. I'm sure this concept blows the minds of some. All gave to one another. There was no "take". You were given due to you being there and giving your share. You'll learn how to break these down inside a min and get much quicker. Nice job and thanks for sharing.

Y'all need a stainless steal butcher table with a sink. Peta is gonna be going nuts over this video, but it sure looked fun to me. you need a seal a meal. On such large breasted chickens Julia Childs suggested cutting into the breast for a dollop of white meat added to the wing This makes the wing piece a more significant piece for cooking. I still separate my wings from the carcass by adding an inch or so of breast when separating the wings from a carcass for a bigger share of the meat bird on the wing piece.

Beautiful looking meat birds, Mike &Liz. Nice and plump, should be great eating. I like the way you processed them, leaving them in a cooler overnight but, why all the water? Salmonella is your enemy with chickens when you process them and it looks like you caught them at the top of their growth cycle. Another great video presentation.

Did you also cook the frames and possibly necks, left from the cutup chickens? Producing chicken stock and also remnant cooked chicken flesh stripped/strained out of the stock, for other chicken meals like soups or other cooked dishes containing just loose shreded chicken meat.
Not much needs to go to waste really.
Many also get giblets and chicken livers from the interior removed.
