A collaboration, this is taking on new dimensions. Thanks Robert 👍💪✌

Brilliant!! I never would have thought of using the click mechanism.

That's a super neat mechanism, Robert. Perhaps not the most efficient, but it really doesn't matter for this usage, and it's interesting. I like it.

Loving it! This is what happens when you find out there’s a book with 1800 mechanical mechanisms in it 😉. I’ve nearly read it all…🤓

Always excellent and interesting. Thoughts based on inexperience so feel entirely free to ignore me. Other ways to skin a cat:
I presume wire is supplied by the length. Could one vastly simplify the coil winding machine by picking an appropriate length of wire for size of coil and number of turns one wishes to make and simply use all the wire?
I guess such a scheme may not be fantastically accurate for a number of reasons and you would be limited by the lengths supplied, but potentially good enough?
    Another option:
If one powered a coil winding machine with a stepper motor it should be possible to work out very accurately how many steps per revolution. A stepper driver with enough 'intelligence' to count the steps, set it to the desired number of turns and come back when finished. I imagine a 3D printer driver board would be suitable if something simpler isn't readily available. (An ordinary motor plus a Hall sensor on the winder with an electronic counter to shut off the motor might suffice)
An automated winder might be be 'better' and without a mechanical counter may tolerate much higher winding speeds. However is watching one's own mechanical contrivance doing it's thing more satisfying?

You could have a wedge piece so that when it's in the drums are locked together and out they'll spin around to reset them. In keeping with the pen theme you could use a washer with a spring on one side of the drum shaft to engage the drums, then just a simple pull switch to disengage them

Nice one! Maybe a spring at the end work fine...

This shows your brilliance. To add multiple mechanisms and ideas into a useful machine is difficult to keep straight in your head. This complex enough that you should have done the video in German.

I would definitely need to paint the numbers on the counter. As is, they're a bit hard to read.

Simple and effective mechanism. I wonder if this could be adapted for use in valve systems eg beam engine ? Also could printed circuit coils be used to reduce the air gap between the magnets of the generator if using paired magnets - see carl bugeja

you are the man to ask, i want to play with teg semiconductors for the purpose of reclaiming some heat off the waste of an oil burner or furnace specifically the waste pipe, the idea is to have small teg units strapped to the waste pipe with a 40x40 fan and a sideways heat sink to direct the air elsewhere, much like the ones for wood stoves yet smaller, the other is to create a metal shroud , with two sides that is about 2ft tall with some computer fans in the back and enough room around the pipe to pass the air over the waste pipe then directed into a smaller opening in front, think top down view of a classical bellow shape or heart shape. obviously the top and bottom should have a plate to help direct the air. and the fans could simply be powered by mains, though if it could be self powered and simply strapped on with a large hose clamp would be best. id love to know your thoughts on this. it feels such a waste that most of the heat is wasted to heating the outside. i am aware there is a magic box of sorts that does this very thing, simply its illegal to use here due to carbon deposits and house fires.

LoL, its my very dream to use a teg someday as a complete solid state heat - electricity generator.
Except, the teg s are too inefficient.
And although I'd say most people don't ever give tegs or tecs a fair chance, or ever make appropriate use of it.., even when used in optimal setups, they'd still be quite inefficient and almost not worth the trouble to use them (especially tegs).
So, for now, tegs are not a practical solution.
But I'd rather suggest, that you route a liquid (some high boiling point and relatively thermally conductive liquid) line over the overheating surface to a stirling engine (or any heat powered engine of your choice).
BTW, could you clue me in on what magic box you were speaking of?

you should post videos of you doing these things in tinkerkad. Some of them are extremely complex and I wonder how you design them in such a simple program

I would love to see you build a wind turbine direct drive a dehumidifier compressor to extract water from air when windy without using electricity!
