Following immediately after the events of THE RAID, Rama (Iko Uwais) is forced to reinvent himself as an undercover cop in order to provide protection for his wife and child. Working for the anti-corruption taskforce led by the one person he can trust, Bunawar, he is given a mission to engage himself as an enforcer for a local mob boss, Bangun. Finding a way in through Bangun's son Uco, Rama must hunt for information linking Bangun with police force corruption. All the while, he harbors a dangerous and personal vendetta for revenge and justice that threatens to consume him - and bring both this mission and the organized crime syndicates crashing down.

What I like about Rama is that he doesn't try to be a badass like many action heroes. He does not get into a fight and does not arrange it first, but only tries to survive and defend himself using his fighting abilities.

FOR REAL. the raid 2 showed sooooo much detail because its getting wider, not just only in a 1 building, they went outside and the details for real effects towards the citizen is scary

I love the noises he Made while fighting. Since the fight scene is continuesly happening without stop(except if its needed) the characters always Scream around to the floor, that makes the fight feels like have an adrenalines more

One thing that I like about The Raid is how everything around the characters seem to still be...normal. Other people are still doing their activities, especially when Rama is 'driving' the taxi. Pedestrians are still wandering about, some food sellers pushing their carts, and even in the restaurant the customers pretty much cannot leave and had to witness Rama defend himself.
How can they leave the resturant when its blocked by people fighting each other with knifes

I’m so torn. Part of me wants an explanation as to why Rama is such a badass fighter, and part of me wants to leave it as a mystery
I think part of the appeal of these movies, is that the realistic fight scenes allow the viewer to get over how much unlimited stamina the protagonist has. I feel like the general vibe that is supposed to be felt is that hes only slightly more skilled than most of his opponents, but he makes sure to mainly take 1v1’s as well as simply has more noble determination to succeed than the low-lifes he dispatches.
@@kubglo7502 As far as his stamina goes, it is shown that he’s in really good shape, so that could explain it away a little bit.
Your explanation makes a lot of sense. I see it now that he tries to take 1v1s as much as possible. That’s what most martial arts teach you to do.
The first Raid film contained a brief training sequence at the beginning. Also, remember that Rama spent 2 years undercover in prison. It's also shown there that he trained by punching his cell walls.
I thought it was clear that the time he spent in prison wasn't really fine after that first fight, my interpretation was damn this man spent 2 years in jail fighting most of the time no wonder he's amazing. Like I said that's what I got from it we all see it differently
It’s because he thinks about his son and wife at home waiting for him to come back to them, fear, rage and adrenaline, all this and plus his combat experience.
The amount of knives he managed to dodge while sitting in the back of that car is just incredible.

he didnt actually dodge, if you watch the movie,l after the fight he took pain killer to stop the pain from the steb wound. The pants didnt protect him. Yes the movie didnt show much of blood coming out of it lol

The all rushed in at once. The only time in fighting scene that doesn't make any sense.
They have small windows to stab someone with. So, instead of one person going for a clear stab all went it making it hard for everyone to squeeze and stab.
