Scream is part 1 of the Dystopia trilogy, which is about cyber-bullying, hateful comments and people losing themselves in the (fake) online world. It is mostly showing the victim's perspective of (cyber)bullying, comparing it to a medieval witch hunt and a burning at the stake. The tree is the tree of language, and it grows black fruit for every hurtful thing people say. Note also the hand gesture, it is the devil's horns introduced by Ronnie James Dio as a symbol for metal, but it originally was a gesture in the middle ages to ward off the evil eye, tying into the witch hunt theme. I really enjoy the music, it's rock mixed with EDM. Dreamcatcher are always very creative, and they are in their own genre by this point.
dreamcatcher \:D/ the tree is symbolism for the internet. the name of the album is tree of language and you can see words written within the walls inside the tree. it's roots are also portals. dreamcatcher uses a lot of pop-culture references to help convey their themes. I think this was inspired by game of thrones and how fans equated the weirwood as internet like. they use this imagery since the setting is pre-technology. later in odd eye you can see the tree actually connected to fiber optic cables. there's a lot more to this, but I'll keep this short ;)
In terms of Kpop, artists are to be so perfect they cannot do any mistakes. Some artists did small mistakes and the netizens came in the comments and articles with "bullets". Even if the issue being brought up is actually made-up lies, netizens will focus on that issue until the person targeted explodes aka "scream". Some artists had passed away because of the pressure, being depressed. Hence this song was made. The song is not directly about bullying. It's about generally every thing, cyber bullying, hate comments, insults, etc. First and 2nd parts talking about the issue itself in the eyes of the receiver. Devil eye come when you look at the comment section. It makes you want to scream. The final part talks about fighting back, not letting down, and because of that, the haters will scream instead out of frustration not succeeding in making you fall. Hope you get that😂 Boca means mouth in spanish. But it means words in this context. That's the next one.
First: please, i don't want to scream After: i just wanna make you scream. They just wanted to stop de pain and hate, they didn't want to hurt anybody but finally they had to defend them selves.
Even the choreography in this video is symbolic. The dance choreo with the black suits in the red background represents (according to the choreographer Sooyeon) witches being burnt at stake.
"I can feel the stares" I would guess because they're idols and constantly being scrutinized both by people in real life and online -Well as for the part of the song that deals with bullying specific to that industry I guess
