I have 10 yrs old daughter and she's been playing the oboe for the last 4, I hope that as she grows, she will continue to be captivated by this instrument and that her effort over so many years will be rewarded.
This is a difficult piece, and requires a lot of stamina. You are truly so good at bringing this off and put many much older professional players to shame. Please keep the sound you have - dont alter it for anyone. Would love to hear later recordings.
Actually (former oboe player here that played this well when I was his age (and I haven't played for so long--boo!))..... because the reed is so small, it's more about how long the player can hold his breath rather than lung capacity. If you pay attention on the faster tempo songs, you will notice that he actually has to exhale between phrases to get rid of de-oxygenated air before he inhales. Oboe players have to do this (exhale/inhale) in the same amount of time other wind players just have to do an inhale.
I'm the only one playing the oboe part (on violin) in my school band, and I came here to get an idea of what sort of tone I should be making and woah what a gorgeous instrument
Playing the oboe such a struggle… I've been playing for about a year in my school band and the obit was really just an unwanted instrument it's super loud and overpowers about all of the flutes and clarinets combined… Usually I just don't play and practice on my own in a practice room nobody really notices I'm gone besides my friends and stuff
+Sky Tower yeah that's true! I love the oboe and I ain't leaving it any time soon! So they are jus gonna have to get used to me! ha! And maybe if I get good I can show them the beautiful music oboes can make!
actually, the oboe isn't that loud, just that the tone is really piercing, keep practicing and you'll get a tone that really blends in well and thing is about the oboe is tht if u get rlly good and u play in rlly good and advanced groups, you get to play all the awesome solos and stuff
forgot tht oboists get cool solos in many hard pieces, i played peter and the wolf last year with the orchestra im in and the solo is rlly cool, i also played rite of spring as english horn
Don't worry. I play bassoon, and you wouldn't imagine how annoyed the band gets when the bassoons play loud. Also, we have two oboes and they sound very good, they aren't as loud as you think they are.
Amber Foradori it's beautiful! hope you play it now, french horn is beautiful too! it is another kind of instrument sure.😄 sorry for my english! i'm from Italy
I’ve been playing for 4 years there was a day when my friends were insisting that orchestra was harder than band so we all came to my house and I let them try to play my oboe but only one of them could even make a sound out of it for the next two days she complained that her lips hurt
There are so little of us in the world. You play very well. I have a dream and I'll do anything to achieve it. Congratulations for making it this far :)
iceflare ehhhh clarinet’s a single reed instrument though... pretty different from double reed, tho I guess it’s easier from switching from like viola lol
I just picked up oboe about a month ago and now I'm here watching this about to cry because I can't get my fingerings straight between saxaphone flute and now oboe. I always forget the differences on flute and oboe and play a C trying to play Bb and honestly this is making me wonder if I'll ever be coordinated enough 😂😂😂
Just don't give up ;) I play the oboe since about 9 years and now it feels like a part of you, sometimes I just wanted to throw it away but just don't give up ;)
omg this is the most relatable.... studying all three, when i get called to play in different ensemble switching from instrument, I often find myself in a fluster during the switches, especially when you have back to back rehearsals with different ensembles requiring different instruments... my god thats the worst.
I played oboe from the age of 6 to 12.. sadly stopped then because of certain circumstances,.. but hearing this brings back the beautiful memories of being a former oboe player, one day I will resume this childhood passion of mine :)

Oboe is a instrument you have to work up too, I started with the flute but since It was too easy for me to learn my teach moved me to the oboe, it was hard but you really have to focus on your embouchure, and get a reed you’ve worked with. PRACTICE! I promise you won’t regret it, oboe is a beautiful instrument.
half way through the piece all I could think of is the fact that he was able to play without breathing for at least a solid 10 seconds which is impressive espessialy for the oboe
I was listening (not looking) to Maurice Bourgue on you tube. This video followed and I thought I was still listening to Maurice Bourgue. Just amazing.

Can't believe the number of hours of practice he did on this one. He played the whole thing by memory too..
I think for two month
he need one week almost to save this
what??? NO WAY!!

Why can't our oboes sound like this
because they don't practise or have private teachers.
Because oboe takes hard work and years of practice to sound great.
Mod plays I play the oboe
Skyblue450 AJ ;) oboe is great just takes a while for anyone to appreciate what you're doing.
pokemongurlz Because they're not prodigies?
There are two other oboes in my school band and they sound like nails on a chalkboard. It’s great to hear a good oboe sound
😅
you do realize that beginners oboes are gonna sound bad right 😭
yea i agree😭😭oboe is also one of the hardest instruments so its hard to even complain🥲@@charlotte-mw5ug

Does he have a third lung?
Pretty sure he does
