Reading the comments here, I get the impression that I'm the only one who likes all three "eras" equally warmly. 80s, 90s, 00s - even St. Anger is my beloved. Each in its own way, but I absolutely wouldn't want to deprive myself of a single Metallica album. And 72 Seasons only proved that to me.

Hard to pick a winner, all 3 decades were amazing for Metallica. Each decade had certain songs I absolutely loved, but overall I gotta go with the 90's and The Black Album and the hits of Enter Sandman, Nothing Else Matters, Sad But True, Wherever I May Roam. Overall though it really doesn't matter as we the fans are the true winners. Keep rocking Miguel I look forward to seeing what you do next.

It's just great. I live in Russia, but I love listening to foreign rock and metal. In the late 80s, early 90s, my father gave me Pink Floyd to listen to first, then Scorpions. And then I listened to manovar and Halloween myself, and of course metallica and queen. I'm just in heaven when I listen to these masterpieces!

Loved 90s (and that was my real era of Metallica) and some amazing songs albums came out the 90s. But 80s Metallica will go down in history as a special moment for metal as far as Metallica are concerned.
2000s to now have been poor IMO although 72seasons was a solid album and I seen them last year at Download and they still amazing live and the new songs(set list was great)

I wish in the 90s, Metallica would've tuned down and do some stoner rock shit.
For me, it's always going to be early 80s Metallica. Specifically, Kill 'em All and Ride the Lightning.
I definitely like a lot of Master of Puppets and even And Justice For All, but, my unpopular 80s-Metallica opinion is that Master is NOT my favorite album.
At the 90s and into the 2000s, they pretty much fell off the radar for me. Don't get me wrong, there's songs I like in their later albums as well, and songs in their earlier albums that I'm not thrilled with.
But I still keep going back to RTL, KEA, and I find myself even digging about on TH-cam for pre KEA demos and such.
