The Benham was using gunfire to reset, and then going behind the islands or going into smoke. He was actually playing it very well, and he would have won a stalemate because his team was ahead on points. He just screwed up at the end trying to get his torps off instead of continuing the resets.

Completely disagree. If played even semi competantly the DD can reset the Musashi whilst moving behind cover giving the BB no return shot, combined with the staggering number of torps it can deploy and rapid reload of said torps he should have sank the BB minutes before the game ended. Very poorly played by both of them. BB couldn't decide which way he was planning on going in the next 30 seconds and had his front guns pointing in the complete opposite direction whilst having AP loaded for multiple salvos when the second it became 1 on 1 he should have swapped to HE, there is an arguement that he should have swapped even sooner considering the Agir was on low health and 18.1" HE still would have smashed him whilst potentially allowing premptive shots on the DD which was the only real threat. Altogether a masterclass in how not to play the game.
Besides all that, an no point did the Benham need to reset the cap. All he had to do was flood the tiny cap area with the 200 plus torps he would have had available before the timer ran out. It doesn't matter how "good" the BB is, throw enough shit at the wall and enough of it would have stuck and the Musashi would have been sank without ever being given chance to return fire.
"He's trying to set a fire" Pretty sure he was just trying to reset the cap, since there was only a few minutes left, and the Benham had the points lead.
That's a very simple question. With a screwdriver. Personally I use the saltdriver-9000 electric drill, cheap and easy to use. You stick the charger into a potato and then throw it at what you want to screw.
Once upon a time, I did dumb stuff like the Benham at the end. And I would cry, "Why?! What did I do wrong?! I tried so hard!" Then a little voice would say, "It's because you suck." Oh, this one was epic - and one I wasn't proud of. (Wipes eggs off face, blushes in Izumese) I think I left the battle around the time Musashi didn't get sunk by the Benham torps... I thought I should mention something about switching to HE, but decided against it to avoid creating a distraction... Glad to see it turned out well. Oh, and he did switch to HE after all ))
The Musashi was consistently aiming too high with his guns. For example, even if the Kearsarge didn’t have a submerged citadel, it likely wouldn’t have taken many, or any citadel hits because Musashi’s shells kept hitting he superstructure and upper belt. Likewise at 14:16, if Musashi had been aiming at the waterline, he’d likely have sunk the Bentham there.
I think he was trying to compensate for Musashi's terrible vertical dispersion, you get potentially more hits when you aim a bit over the waterline when half the shells aren't going into the water. But he was doing it waaaay too much, like why aim at the flight deck of the Kearsarge when the shells are almost sure to overpenetrate there, and they can go too high just as well as too low. The alternative of course is that this guy had no idea how to aim properly.
Musashi's deck plating is 57mm, not 32. And at Tier IX the Yamato hull's armor scheme is quite tough. The 410mm belt will stop almost all other BB AP at ranges exceeding 18km even when flat broadside and the 57mm center deck combined with the smaller superstructure makes Musashi fairly HE resistant.
at the end I think Benham just tried to reset the capping, he didn't actually need to contest it, but to make sure musashi didn't cap it, since at that point Benham had point lead. and ir he would have managed to keep it that way he would have won.
i play benham a bunch, its a great foil to a push. despite me rooting for the dd, your commentary never fails to bring a smile to my face, thanks Jingles.
He didn't cit the Kearsarge because he was aiming at the casemate and superstructure. None of those shells would have citadeled any BB. Well, maybe a Marlborough, that has a ridiculously high citadel.
The point is that the whole aircraft-handling component of the ship should be a citadel IRL. That part of the ship is full of fuel, munitions, and aircraft, all of which can be detonated with splinters from even smaller shells, and every CV in the game, hybrid or not, should be extremely vulnerable to gunfire. A CV could be destroyed IRL by a single small bomb detonating among the aircraft, but in World of Warships, carriers can be pummeled by hundreds of shells and barely a fire or citadel be seen these days.
@@genericpersonx333 At the very least, there should be bonus damage for hangar penetrations, even if it doesn't outright count as a citadel hit. A citadel hit does 100% damage and a regular pen does 33%. So why not 67% for hangar penetrations? Also, while I'm not going to say that you should be able to get a detonation via hits to the hangar (because the detonation mechanic is bullshit in general and should be removed), I *do* think there should be a chance of starting a fire in the hangar even if you used AP or SAP.
@@RedXlV I agree. And Musashi has one of the best torpedo protection belts in the game, which he used to max effect. 😂
