Good to see an honest review from a Kiwi!. You want Hilleberg Akto one man plus vestibule tent for extreme conditions. Its the only tent manufacturer some logistics companies insist on for South Pole crossings. Kerlon, their own fabric is not found in any other tent on the market, they will send you a free sample to try and tear... I also have the Nammaj GT3 another larger 4 season tent. They re pricey, but bought mine used in as new condition off Ebay. My life is too valuable to chance it on rubbish gear.
Glad I'm not the only one who had this problem in high wind. Spent all night holding the tent up and putting poles back in. And rip in the same place as this review. a great tent, until bad weather.
This video just came at the right time for me, THANX. While I have just bought their front clip on bino pack. But was looking at their 25L pack as some of the ideas look good. I might have to do so research before buying; thanks again, keep up the good work.
Thanks mate that’s a great review. I almost bought a cooker off them until I found the hidden reviews. Ended up going with jetboil as I didn’t want to chance it failing. It’s actually dangerous to have gear fail especially when I take my young kids hunting overnight
You just absolutly roasted Bushbuck and I love it... Great review, honest and to the point. Thanks for being someone not afraid to share a negative experience. Shot bro!
Thank you for saving me $$$ on a tent that probably won't last. My main interest was the 8000mm waterproofing. Hopefully other tent manufacturers can make higher waterproof ratings
Wow. What a review. I do question my investment in a much more expensive and significantly heavier Hilleberg when I see much lighter tents marketed as 3 season. And here we are.
@@tkodnz Soulo, runs at 2.7kg, but I'm using the additional floor sheet - probably not necessary but protects the tent floor and reduces condensation. Will stand up on the tops, no problem
Thanks mate, I was considering one of there tents. To be fair, I have some of there gear and it is fine, but now I would only buy certain things off them. Keep the reviews coming
Cheers mate. Have heard from an industry insiders who independently tested their rain jackets and found they weren't up to spec also. Leaked at the seams well before they should have.
My mates have the Horizon tents, one has busted. The hubs are a weak point , they have little to no ventilation, and they are simply not a good product. I have Hillebergs for base camping, and use a Wilderness Equipment 2nd Arrow for backpack hunting when away from the vehicle. It has been great, plenty strong enough for all but the worst conditions, integral pitch which is always the way to go. They also make a heavier version of the Arrow that is only slightly heavier. What's the point of spending little for no quality??? I use a HBerg soulo a bit when the weather looks really dicey, but again you get the weight penalty. I am always happy to sacrifice a little luxury for the confidence in my tent and sleeping pad when on a hunt. Bushbuck seem to have a lot of copies of a lot of gear, just not sure if the quality would be the same. Buy once cry once, quality gear would be a priority if I was hunting in NZ. Obviously a lot of hunter content on Y/Tube is from guys who must have some sort of affiliation with them and their products. Thanks for an honest review.
Tough one for sure. I'm personally going back a a fly with a bivvy sack for now. I do believe most of the tents at this price point will essentially perform the same.
@@tkodnz I have one and was in it again last night in shitie weather, admittedly on the front lawn while testing it. It was a rough souwester as locals will know but between the tent and the Rab bag it was very toasty and as solid as a rock, no ventilation problem either that flap stayed wide open. I am fizzing at the bung to see one tested on TH-cam.
i commented on a bushbuck post on instagram about the weight of their "carbon fibre" bipod. weighing more than regular Harris bipod, they deleted my comment and blocked me within 20 minutes lol.
Shady company for sure. Makes you wonder if they’ve been bought out by an overseas company with quality like that. Certainly not you’d expect from a kiwi company at all!

Good work mate, more reviews of gear from everyday blokes is what we need.

My pleasure!
Awesome review. Good to be able to bypass so the BS!

Looks like you made a great choice! What one did you go for?

Good on you! I have the Akto and the Nammaj GT3. use them both with fly only and footprint, they are much lighter and not compromise strength.
Short and to the point, love it. Just what I needed to save me donating $445 to the company. Thanks mate, cheque's in the mail.
I WAS going to buy this. Thanks heaps for the HONEST review!!!. I'm subbing.
You nailed that mate, that gear is crap. Buy once cry once… although I think I cried twice when I brought my Kuiu tent! It’s bombproof though. 😊
"The always on sale Briscoes price" haha, too good, thanks for the review bro
Refreshing to see this sort of review. Subscribed. Thanks

Nice review! Many of their products are just rebranded (more expensive) Ali express items eg their cookers.

So what other good options do we have without spending thousands? And thanks for a great review!!! We need you to review all things!!!!

th-cam.com/video/PNbl1M-3xkw/w-d-xo.html I thought this was interesting
Great review, mate. Thanks
Solid review, enjoyed that haha.
Nice review fella 😎👍
Awesome review brother!!
Nice review mate, awesome.
I would like to see someone do a review on the Stoney Creek Armadillo 1.0
Would love to do one but I doubt they will send one my way!

Hahaha classic stitch up
Not surprised sadly
Great honest review
I’ve got same tent lasted 4 hunts. My mate got same tent and ripped on its second use.
Lol fuck I loved this review!
Legend!
😩 ρɾσɱσʂɱ
very questionable reviews on their website, so many 5* it's not believable.
Exactly why I made this review!

Absolute trash products
