    It's with a heavy heart that I acknowledge the departure of her once-mighty voice, now reduced to a mere echo struggling to hit the right notes. Her pace, a torturous crawl, contrasts starkly with the pulse of the music, creating a dissonance that's hard to ignore. It's almost as if she's lost in her own world, detached from the rhythm she once commanded. One wonders if she's hearing what we are.
    As a devoted fan since 1985, watching this is a true challenge. I'm genuinely relieved that I opted against purchasing tickets in the end. The last time I saw her perform was a decade ago, and even then, her voice was showing signs of wear, though her stage presence remained. However, these 2023 concerts are a far cry from that memory, with everything feeling awry - from the visual spectacle to the very sound itself.

      Well said, I saw her at Hammersmith Odeon 86/87 and it was fantastic, the band were tight, every word and sound in key. I watched 3 songs from this and gave up, rather listen to the studio albums now and remember the good times.

      Chronic smoking (which she does because she gets sick stopping) does lots of damage to the vocal chords on top of age related thickening of the vocal chords. Metal singers who don't ise there diaphragm and just there throat put micro tears in vocal chords

    • @joethelion6016
      @joethelion6016 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @hilarysell719 Actually it doesn't. Smoking affects the breathing capacity way more than the vocal chords. Her voice has deteriorated with age which is a natural process that happens to everyone. Many famous and marvellous vocalists were smokers. Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra, Pavarotti, Maria Callas, Amy Winehouse, Nat King Cole, David Bowie and that's just a few. It's a myth.

    Siouxsie's quiet return to the stage was 2023's brightest highlight. Her legacy is unmatched as genre innovator, song writer, performer, fashion icon, and singer, as she often topped best singer polls early on. She is iconic and should be recognized as one of the greats. Siouxsie is as relevant as Bowie, perhaps even more of a trailblazer particularly for women in rock..

    Siouxsie's Songwriting
    Journalist Paul Morley noted that Siouxsie's songs topics dealt with "mental illness, medical terrors, surreal diseases, depraved urges, sinister intensity, unearthly energy, sexual abuse, childhood disturbances, sordid mysteries, unbearable nervous anxiety, fairytale fears, urban discontent and the bleak dignity of solitude". Many of her songs are about damage; her childhood marked her profoundly. She said, "Damaged lives, damaged souls, damaged relationships. Most of the damage I sing about first happened when I was younger and I am still feeding off it and working it out. Early experiences are what create a lifetime of damage. The songs you write can help you fix the damage. And just the environment you are in is so important and can waste potential and corrupt something. For me, there was neglect. An alcoholic father who is not there because the most important thing for him is just to get alcohol and your mother is trying to compensate for the non-existent second parent so she's never there because she's working all the time and when she is around she's stressed out. Being isolated and not having anyone to connect with, there was just no physical touching back then".

    Thank you for the quality footage. It's nice to see Siouxsie in fine physical form, free of the back and foot problems that had plagued her for a portion of the tour. Again, I hope the audio from this performance was professionally recorded for posterity. I have to say that the theatrical footage and CGI imagery for this mini tour has been something exotic and special. It's too bad there isn't a tour program for this series of Spring through Summer concerts...

      The drumming is so poor. I mean, I do feel sorry for the drummer here cos everyone must be saying "he ain't Budgie". But Budgie was so much more than beat and rhythm. Budgie made the drums sing, he got a tune from them. This drummer is just doing a beat. I've not got to if she does But Not Them in this gig but in others on the tour there are 3 ppl doing percussion plus the drummer just to make the same sound Budgie did by himself. That says it all I'm afraid.

    Amazing come back, and at such a later stage in life. She really pulls it off, still sounds great (though different), and looks amazing. Had such a crush on her as a goth teen. Still a beauty...and those eyes!

    I understand the affection of the fans, but now it's literally unlistenable, already in 2009 she had to lower the tone of the songs to ridiculously low levels...now the tone is even lower...the strings of the instruments are below zero...and she can't even hold those superlow notes. The time for retirement has come.

      She has more charisma in her pinkie than most ppl could accumulate in a lifetime. Sure. Time marched on, but as a groundbreaker for so many, I just see a privilege to experience the real deal. She's not a jukebox or a perfect time capsule. Loved it, tough monitoring issues and all. She's fantastic. My opinion, and wasn't a super fan. I find it the same vibe and timelessly cool

      Sometimes, people do need to think if it's actually for the best to carry on, even if they enjoy it. Hopefully she doesn't need the money.
      She sounds quite less than great - she looks good, but, for whatever reasons, she's obviously not quite fit enough to carry performance...this is really not far from spending the entire time on one spot with her hand on her hip. It sounds like there are 10 people there.
