That's a great knife! i usually take a small hammer and tap along the sides, that way the shell breaks off leaving the whole coconut meat intact with the water inside
1 more thing last week we sold 250 nuts to the soap factory and the trees in back yard when you plant things you don't have to buy everything even a little kitchen garden is good
that's not a big deal some parts of the world you can use a Dihayou don't need anyone to teach you how to get a coconut out from the shell hate it when these people come on tube and want to sell things I grew up using a child don't come for me because I am using coconut everyday in my baking and we use the shell to make alsort of stuff

My husband cuts them in half on his table saw, drills holes in the halves & we make parrot toys from the shells!!!
Your technique is all about the tool - the curved knife. Please tell us where to find one - Google is no help.
