I’m no expert by no means, but the wax protects the paint and gives it a shine. Depends on how much your piece will be used, you may want to use Polycrylic instead. It’s just harder to apply in my opinion.
What kind of finish does the wax give after done? Is it still flat looking or satin? Maybe eggshell finish? Also, why can't I use a clear finish coat vs a wax onto chalkpaint?
Not commenting on this woman in particular I appreciate the info and it was a nice video but distressing and wax on the edges totally cancel out any work you put into a project why refinish something and do all that work to make it looks old and shabby on purpose?
@@jesse_sss6924 I personally think it makes it look fresher and new but at the same time not run down I like the colour to be vibrant not pantchy then go in to destress it on the edges. Hope this helps ❤
Absolutley the MOST helpful video I have seen on chalk painting. Thank you
Thank you for letting me know to apply clear wax first. I didn’t know and my piece did not turn out well with dark wax only. Thanks so much.
thank you for the tips!! about to go finish my ivory chalk painted furniture now!
For yearly maintenance, would I just wax over it again lightly with a clear wax then buff it out? Would it smear a darker wax beneath it?
I like to use a link free cloth to apply wax to my chalk paint pieces. It always worked better for me.
I thought you’re supposed to wait 24 hours before bugging do the wax can dry? Maybe different products require different timing?
Don’t need any fancy brushes for this. Use an old cotton t-shirt. Says right on the can instructions
I already sanded and distressed my chalk paint dresser before I saw the video, will waxing still work over the distressing????
Yes
If I waxed a chalk painted dresser..how soon would I be able to place decor on top? Sorry I've never used wax before. TIA
It sounds like you’re using a stiff brush? 🤔
Very helpful....thanks
Any reason that all the waxes I use never set? Always wet...
I still have goosebumps from the shrill noise you didn't warn us about...
GROW UP!
Was it the shrill or your unbalanced hormones?
@@erinwoiszwillo10 it was the shrill noise, Erin. Just watched again and now going for a lie down
How do u take off the wax off of a mason jar without taking the paint with it?
was that a bare piece of wood? I never saw and paint
Where’s the link she spoke about????
Question: im painting my cement slab with black chalk paint,do i need to put wax on it when i finish?
Whats the purpose of the wax?

Please help! I applied to much wax to a chalk painted piece and now I think i ruined it. How do I get it off.
I dunno if this will down but maybe a hair dryer to soften the wax and then paper towels or cloth to absorbe it? Hope this helps let me know :)
This may be a dumb question but how do you know if you have applied to much wax?
I just applied clear wax to my piece that I chalk painted and I dont see much of a difference at all. Im wondering if I put enough.....
@@heatherlayne2536 I did it and my wax turned YELLOW on a blue piece. I had to sand it off and start over.

Applying clear wax before the dark wax makes no sense.. waste of product for no reason.
Why not add 2 layers of clear wax, instead of using dark wax? As clear wax will darken the chalk paint.
Why do people like the aged look on furniture? I think it’s ugly!
It is chic ugliness, aka the good shit.
@Eberhard Farmboy Exactly! Don't like it don't watch simple, doors that way...

Because people like certain furniture to look like that. It may not be your cup of tea, but certain people like the vintage and antique look.
@@josiemcdevitt yeah I guess to each their own. Dosen't bother me just kinda confused me
