I understand where you're coming from Andrew. I too did a lot of work on my house, saved a ton of money as well, and living here in the U.S.A, that kind of savings go a looong way. My siblings and I did the same in New Jersey a decade ago, by doing over 90% of the work ourselves, the house passed 3 grueling inspections, and sold for more that we expected. I can also imagine people are looking at the market value, or potential market value of your house, and use that against you.
