    There’s a new spinning Overdrive icon beside player’s avatar @ 1:50 (top left) showing which characters are currently using overdrive. All these small changes make a huge difference. Now the Overdrive mechanic will be much easier to understand for newcomers with the “Color Combo Guidance” in the top right corner @ 2:26. Also it looks like they added a numbered timer on the Overdrive clock while adding symbols next to the arts similar to XC1 DE. Everyone will understand combat much better in this version.

      @KeithElliott-zd8cx 21 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      honestly, if you knew enough that tp arts augments = infinite overdrive, you're fine.
      there's a way to extend overdrive using the combo system, but unless you've got extremely high number of hit attacks, you can't rely on it anyway. the healing's alright, but it was sort of a flaw with the balance of, if you needed to heal, you're probably kinda screwed.
      the bonus exp/class exp was fucking jank anyway. iirc you would basically have to hit the enemy like 11 times with just orange skills for up to 100% extra exp from THAT enemy, and you weren't able to cancel out and do a buff or whatever without ending the combo. and since this is one of those games where you kill like 50,000 fucking things to level up, oh fucking well.

    The UI is genuinely a make or break for Xenoblade games. The biggest reason I enjoyed Definitive Edition and 3 more than 2 was that the menus were snappy and the navigation lines weren't confusing. UI changes are great, but my biggest gripe with XC X was the party system. I never wanted to change my party because it was a huge pain to have to warp back to the hub, then physically find and talk to the party member. Not to mention the story missions had 3 locked members so there was little incentive to mix it up anyways... If you wanted to vary up your party it necessitated huge grinding sessions, unlike XC1.

      @conorb.1901 10 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @thenonexistinghero I admit that it was a bit of an exaggeration, but there is no way the tutorials in X were better than the ones in 2. For one, in 2 they actually tell you how to play the game. Again, they aren't the best tutorials, far from it, but someone can reasonably learn how to play Xenoblade 2 from reading the tutorials. Also, I have in fact played the original X, the tutorials there are completely garbage. You really should be looking at the digital manual, something not everybody is going to bother doing or even know about, and even then some of the stuff in there isn't great, such as the overdrive stuff.

    • @thenonexistinghero
      @thenonexistinghero 10 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @@conorb.1901 Yeah, they were far worse. And no you cannot learn how to reasonably play them from XC2 because the game has a habit of giving you a tutorial at a poor time without giving you much of a chance to experiment with it at that time... while making it impossible to actually go back and read it (at least until l several updates). For XCX the tutorial could be accessed through the Wii U menu and you could get proper explanations for most things and also easily findable.

    If they can better explain the combat system and the skell management, that would be fine and good, but there are other problems I hope would be addressed, such as letting us change characters and time in the menu like the rest of the series, instead of searching out each character in NLA to be able to put them in your team. I would also love it if they removed the restrictive team placement for story missions, because for a game that has nearly twenty playable characters, to have the game slap any customization options out of your hand and outright force you to play with Elma and Lin throughout most of it was beyond annoying.

    There appear to be some chains missing (Green-Green and I believe Green-Purple) based on some of the comments on Nintendo’s channel but hopefully they’re there at launch. Do like how quest objectives/collectibles seem to be lit up now so maybe that’ll make those bloody Lobster dolls easier.
    One mechanic I hope gets changed is the Flight Module, specifically how in the original it completely overrides your ability to jump, thus you always have to consume fuel if you want to get any vertical height and the field music always gets interrupted too. People in those same comments said that this may no longer be the case, but we don’t know if the jumping Skells footage was taken pre- or post-Flight Module. Double tapping jump to commence flight I’d think would be a good way to keep both functions.

      There is a shot of what looks like a skell with the flight module jumping, but, upon further inspection, I’ve realised that what happened was the player just landed before the particle effects started. You can recognise the start of the flight animation and someone mentioned how the landing animation is the same as when landing from flying.
      Point is, I don’t think they changed that aspect of it. It appears that the flight module does override jumping. Maybe they’ll modify how Don’t Worry plays so it won’t cut off the area theme immediately?

    I never really had much issue with the stupidly small font size in OG X. Maybe it's because I sit fairly close to my screen, but it'll still be very nice to not have to lean forward at times to figure out what I have to do or what I just picked up.

    Really, I hope that they also modify the inbetween chapter segments. The forced sidequests (as someone who doesn't really like them) was really, really annoying and it felt like they were artificially making the game longer. The Skell being locked by sidequests is also annoying, but doesn't bother me as much (surprisingly), but it would be nice if it were worked into the game's main story or plotline so I don't have to go out of my way to get Skell's which are literally on the cover of the game. Idk if they'll actually do these changes but I will probably buy it for the new story content

      Kind of weird about getting upset about sidequests in X, and how they get in the way of the main story. When this is the game with the smallest and weakest main story of any of the Xenoblade games, and at the same time with one of the best side quests and side content of most Xenoblade games (until 3 dethroned it).

    The only other big change I'd like to see, aside from some character-creator tweaks (don't limit certain hairstyles to certain faces) would be an in-game jukebox where you can replace the currently playing music with music of your choice. The jukebox feature should contain all the music from the game, and it'd be cool if you could unlock music from other games in the series by defeating specific tyrants or accomplishing other goals within the game.
    Frankly, I think any console game that's 100+ hours long ought to have a feature like this, especially if the game is guilty of having 10% of the soundtrack take up 90% of the runtime like XBX (and TotK - don't think you're getting off scot-free, TotK!).
    I'll settle for volume sliders though ._.

    One issue I noticed though is that the battle UI is brought a bit further up, which seems to cover up your character, especially during Overdrive. Not a big deal, you can always zoom out, but that might take some time to get used to. 🤷‍♂️

    If you are thinking of more ideas for content, I really got the sense that there were way more segments per region than were in the Wii U version. I suppose that could have been a visual filter and not representative of the new layout. I kind of hope that, if they are breaking the map up into that many segments, a lot of them won't be probes but landmarks, tyrant graves, or other fast travel options. I recently fired up my old save and took photos of how I set my probes back then because it was not a part of the experience I am super jazzed to do from scratch. A lot of trial and error and I would rather focus on more action oriented portions of the DE.

    • @KeithElliott-zd8cx
      @KeithElliott-zd8cx 21 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      honestly, i think it's just because it's a bigger map - he pointed out the 'map screen' covered less territory in the past, and it just feels like you able to see more of it at once, gives you a false impression of the segments/section is increased.

    • @seedofwonder

      @xtrem5428 19 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @@seedofwonder I think you counted the probes, not the segment. Just in the example at 3:24 there are 30 segments, and that's about a third of Primordia. Compare the Wii U screen at 3:24 and the Switch at 3:28 at the eastern part of Primordia, and the pattern of probes and segments is the same.

      @@seedofwonder you do have a good point about that, but the quick look at the new and old map looked about the same, so, maybe there's just a few more mining nodes.
      It's kinda hard to tell. In some places, it does look a bit shrank, like the southern coast east of nla being off, but a corner in a lake being the same, so it doesn't seem THAT wildly different for there to be like 8 more mining spots suddenly...
      Hahaha i'm a fucking idiot (you're fine) - remember how i said it's bigger than we're used to? A third of the map isn't fucking, whatever the first continent is again. We're seeing 101-121, missing 113...
      And 301 - 307. That's why we counted past 21. It's even got that big ass chasm in view.
      Again, we're seeing it out of proportion, not what were used to, because normally noctillum or whatever, and oblivia(?)'s entrances aren't on screen at once.
      Either that, or you are - primordia has 21 MINING NODES. not segments. The mining nodes look the same, we're just seeing more than 1 continent. If you're counting hexagons and going 'there's WAY more than 21...' Go look at the map again...
      Hell, 3:20 there's more than 21 segments here, too.
