    when Geddy says "best audience ever" at the end of Working Man you have to realize the special relationship that Rush has with Cleveland as it was a Cleveland radio station that first played Rush in the states...without that initial airplay Rush probably doesnt get signed to an American recording contract and stays a local Toronto band instead of ending up in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame...

    • @MARSHOMEWORLD
      @MARSHOMEWORLD 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Yes, it is worth mentioning. Kind of a deep lore sort of piece of information, and without it it comes off as if he's pandering to the crowd but Cleveland Ohio was such a blue collar environment they really were among the very first in the United States to embrace Rush certainly the radio station and DJ there you're such a huge stepping stone for the band

      @@MARSHOMEWORLD I grew up near Chicago in the 70's and I'll tell you, Chicago wasn't far behind Cleveland. Rush were very popular in that region too.

      It was this song in particular that the Cleveland radio station played a lot. It was a long song, especially for the time, and the DJ later said that it was this amazing song, but it got so much airplay because it was the 'DJ has to poop" song, because it was long enough to finish his business.

    • @MARSHOMEWORLD

      @Heathcoatman DJ's we're always looking for the time to poop songs.... hahaha. It is crazy what success sometimes comes down to

      I have seen them close to 100 times in too many cities to count including this particular concert. Due to the reasons mentioned in this thread, Cleveland was the only city I heard Geddy say this. No pandering here.

    The thing about watching a live Rush song here and there, is that they played and kept that energy for 3 hours every night, playing 25-30 songs. I saw them 5 times on this tour, and each night got better and better. They are/were a unique band, committed to reproducing their music to the highest standard, yet still very playful on stage as to relate to the causal fan. They remain, and will always remain, the greatest rock act of ALL time.

    Speaking of getting better with age, their very last album (Clockwork Angels, 2012) is the most polished power record ever made by anyone. The entire width of the sound spectrum is filled with sounds of every kind you can imagine. The atmospherics are overwhelming. So much that they make for a bad reaction video because you simply cannot absorb it all on a first listen. Not possible. And it's all guitars and drums...no keyboards. Professionalism at its finest from the same three guys 40 years in the making.

    Relentless practice, is what Neil said about himself, & the band!!! I guess it's good these three got along so well! It's hard to believe that the Cleveland 2011 version, IMO is even better than the great Rio 2002 version. I saw RUSH in late 1974 before FBN or Caress Of Steel were released. This was about 3 or 4 months after Neil joined the band. They played songs from the first album, but also played Fly By Night, & one or two other songs from FBN. RUSH was the middle band, after Diamond Rio, & before Ted Nugent! It was a great show!!!

    Seeing Rush on the R40 tour.... with the vague feeling that it may very well be their last go-round even though the band had not advertised it as such.... they didn't try to do the traditional cash in on a farewell tour vibe.. but, it was in the air. Anyway, the idea that they would play the older material farther into the set so that it was actually kind of going back in time and they ended up finishing the night with material from their first album and I think they even flirted with 45 release they had done before the album itself, it's been a while I don't remember exactly but I do remember that it was quite Brave of giddy Lee to tackle the higher and higher vocal registers of the earlier material the farther into the night they went. Traditionally a vocalist would want to tackle the hardest stuff first but he really did sound fantastic that night, and well not every note was flawless.... this is a man who could keep up with his 20 something year old self pretty well 40 years after the fact

      I'm in the UK and we never got to see R40, reading some of the interviews with Geddy and Alex I think that although they wanted to it was Neil who put the breaks on, my best friend of some 25 years had a Glioblastoma and it had subtle effects initially and I think this may have been the same for Neil with early effects before he really knew the true depth of the problem which led him to hang up his drum sticks. My friend was a big drinker and worked nights, he ignored issues all the time and sadly when the true impact of his situation hit him it was way too late for any treatment, he died about 6 weeks after diagnosis at the age of 49.

    Geddy wrote the lyrics for "Working Man" and "In The Mood." John Rutsey couldn't get it together to do the job. In fact Geddy wrote all of the lyrics for Rush's debut album. Then Neil Peart came along and became the designated lyricist and drummer.

      @@joesixpack8305 Well, first, just because we Rush fans have heard every Rush song doesn't mean they have to react to every single one. Second, why would they limit themselves to one a week??? And third, I have no problem if they do a studio version, followed by a live version, to hear the differences right away, while it's fresh in their heads. And BTW, @ donpardo2510, did you only listen to one song at a time when you bought albums??? Or are you even old enough to have bought albums???Or CDs??? I know when I bought albums, tapes, or CDs, sometimes I'd listen to them straight through, and I'd really be listening. Might miss some things the first time, listen more than once, but if I really liked the band, like Rush, I'd be riveted to every song.
