Fantastic breakdown of all these options which you've ridden. Also the fact that you've put in the miles on the high-end wheel sets as well as the very bottom of the price spectrum and everything in-between. This just shows how good the Asian carbon wheel tech has come where you can spend less than half of some of the Big name brands and easily get better value and performance. Warranty and the ability to deal with a more local dealer network does matter to some extent but all these companies are needing to up their game because of Winspace, Farsports and Elite Drive. Hopefully you can get the Ascent Polaris 69's and some of the Light Bicycle wheels sent to you in the future as those are also good options. Be safe this winter you Legend and keep up the great content.
I'd be lying if I said a co-sign from the likes of yourself and Galen Kehler wasn't important to me. That means the video did its job. Thank you sir! Just waiting on Galen to chime in LoL. I have a buddy locally here who solely rides those ENVE 5.6 SES wheels. 2 years straight. He recently needed to have them serviced, and the turn around time was less than two weeks door to door. This dude rides about 18,000 miles a year mind you. So from that perspective...the ENVEs are a worthy value to him. Personally speaking though the Winspace, Elite, and FarSports are tough to beat performance wise. I'm really considering reaching out to Ascent, but sadly it's practically winter here now.
Excellent, thoughtful deep-dive. Love videos like this that compare wheels against each other vs reviews of a single set in a vacuum. Keep ‘em coming, and chapeau!
Great video as always, Patrick. For those of us who are deep into Chinese parts, we all accept that there is a price performance trade-off. I like to invoke the 80/20 rule: you'll get 80% there for 20% of the price (mileage varies widely). However, in the carbon wheel space, we truly are spoiled for choice with options that are not only more affordable, but are on par and often better than their mainstream equivalents.
This is an excellent perspective. Thanks 1 Sigma! Considering some of these wheels cost less than half of the popular American brands with top-notch warranty, you could buy two sets of a wheel and not worry about warranty or servicing all together LoL.
Awesome comparison. I'm considering investing on a pair of Winspace Lun Hyper after watching your video review. I always went for Zipp I have decided to move away from hookless rims. I hope the Lun Hyper is not hookless. Great video!!
You knocked even my $700+ aluminum wheelset, indirectly! Said with face a straight😐. Still, found value in your reviews in general. I dipped my toes in a set of Superteam carbon wheels two months ago and so far, pleased. Time will tell... I am strictly an older fitness rider, aluminum frames only so far (4 bikes, all built by me).
My choice came down to the Elite Drive 65 and the Lun Hyper D67. I emailed elite and they were fantastic. I asked for the wheels without decals and they said they could do that. I also wanted them in a matte finish but they couldn’t do that. The D67 with a discount code and the matte finish became the ones. I’m using the new Specialized s-works 2bliss turbo t2/t5 tyres in 28mm and they transition to the rim perfectly. I ran 69f/74r psi for a wet ride and to be honest they felt almost squishy. I think 78r/73f would be perfect for my 90kg.
@@PatrickLino I agree, I’m going to try it a bit higher next time. The SRAM tire pressure calculator says it should be another 10spd lower! Also I’m in the UK where the roads are pretty crappy.
Good review and summary. thx! yes all depends on budget, riding style, and how many hills, or lack of them where you ride. For me a shallower depth, reasonably priced wheel with alloy spokes for compliance on our rough roads make the most sense.
Thanks for this review. Based on your chart I would pick yoeleo 35mm for everyday riding/climbing wheels and the Elite 45 drive for fast rides and all rounder. The price and weight on the elite 45 drive is such a great deal. One thing I am very scared of is that lighter wheels could be a sacrifice to durability. We as riders always think of light weight = less durable. Carbon can only go so "thin" before it borders fragile. I would like to add into the equation of the riders weight and the terrain they ride on can affect the long term durability of the wheels. If you can get your hands on some zipp firecrest I would love to hear your opinion on them as they are the benchmark of wheels here where I live.
Overall system weight is more important than individual component weight. A wheelset 200g heavier than its competition is only like 0.2% of the system weight. I am certain no one will be able to feel such a insignificant difference in weight besides, perhaps world-tour level riders climbing the steepest of mountains.
@@PatrickLino agree on system weight. 200g difference in weight on wheels have zero effect outside of racing. Most of the weight come from the hub which is at the center of a spinning wheel. Weight has been blown out of proportion by consumers not understanding of total system weight. Weight plays no part in performance outside of racing. So much marketing on weight and aero gains in design that people have forgotten the basics of cycling...the legs and fitness of the cardiovascular system...
You should try to get your hands on the Yoeloe Pilot wheels, very light and fast. I run winspace but gave these to my partner and they are really solid. Setting them up was on par with winspace and zipps.

Men... yikes. The only good reason to shave a stash.
Yikes! 🤣
Why doing this to your valves? They don't deserve this !
Simply to upset you personally 🤣

Yikes!
Crazy how time flies.
@@PatrickLino thanks for making this video. I wish I would’ve seen it before I bought my Zipp 303’s. Not that I don’t like them.
@@downlaw Honestly you could probably sell your 303s, and still have enough money for a brand new set of Magene EXAR 508s. 23mm internal, 30mm external, HOOKED, carbon spokes, ceramic bearings. You get the point LoL
