26 Minute Video in 1 sentence:
How to DJ with Spotify
-> Use Tidal
So how would you do that then?
Tidal is in Serato
I found the video very helpful! Thank you for explaining everything in details 🙏
You're welcome!
This video should be called, "How to DJ without Spotify - 4 ways"
Sorry but we ourselves have used this exact method so it's the best that is out there at the moment.
@digitaldjtips I understand that there's no alternative but you shouldn't make a click bait title that advertises how to DJ with Spotify only to spend Half an hour telling us how you basically can't and that all you're really doing is remaking playlists on another platform.
At the very least the video should be titled "Alternatives to DJ'ing with Spotify Playlists" or something along those lines.
@@digitaldjtipsnah, I use an app called Spotiflyler. Create a playlist in Spotify, click share, copy link, open Spotiflyer and paste in the search bar. Hit download and the songs are saved to your device and accessible to whatever DJ app you use. Plus you can play them without Internet connection.
spotiflyer.app/
thanks for this comment. I almost wasted 30 minutes of my life like probably a lot of people did..
I'm not knocking those who prefer these methods for DJing.
However, I'll stick to downloading and having the song I need when I need it and not rely on Wi-Fi, Hotspots or hopes that these services won't remove, block or replace the songs at their discretion.
It’s not an either/or
How do u download your Spotify playlists? I know there are some apps/softwares that offers this service but, my concern is the bit rate quality. 320kbps it's a good offer doesn't it?
Thanks! Just the solution I was looking for. Needed it for a gig and can't wait to do it!
Glad I could help!
@dijitaldjtips Phil as always your videos are very great and professional. I was reading some negative comments based on the title of the content and honestly I don't see anything wrong with it as it clearly says, Kind of. And you covered the options to make it possible to use Spotify with the work around the additional programs. Great job as always. People do your research and as a real DJ we should be able to create our offline collection/Playlist through record pools and download to external hard drives. You hit the point of only use Spotify as a fallback for requests and i use a tablet with Spotify Premium connected to my DDJ-1000 Rekordbox and an external mixer with Traktor S4 to run the tablet with Spotify Premium so it's ready as needed. There are some other alternatives for music from Spotify out there too...
Yes, indeed. DJing is not about 100% convenience, it is about adapting to what is out there and using it all the best you can! Always has been that way as you know. 🤣
Thanks for this. Where do you recommend actually buying your music to build a "hard copy" collection?
Good question that went unanswered. iTunes store, Amazon (for mainstream), Tracksource, Beatport, Juno Download (for more underground) are all good places to start.
So there is no way to DJ with Spotify 😭
Unfortunately, no.
“How you CANNOT DJ with Spotify” should be the name of the video.
Spotify stopped this capability in March 2020.I used to DJ with spotify from 2015 - early 2020
@@sammuringai2680 yes, same...it's annoying to have to pay for Tidal but it is what it is I guess
It still works in my old version of Djay Pro.
Great stuff, thank you! Asked to DJ at my best buddie's 70th bday party and I'm gonna do it with Spotify now.
Enjoy the party!
@@digitaldjtips Thanks!
Amazon Music with the Denon SC Live 2, 4 & Prime 4+
Yes, I forgot totally about Amazon Music as it is such a new addition and only on Engine DJ for now, thanks for reminding me!
Your videos are normally really good, why have you gone down this clickbait route?
Sorry you felt that, it's a question we get asked a lot hence the vid.
Need a drag and drop function - should be able to have an app which enables you to highlight and select tunes directly from Spotify and then drop straight into the dj streaming software being used.....
That would be great but it’s not gonna happen
I use Spotify predominantly for bgm, and very occasionally for an ‘I should play this’ moment, where I don’t already have the track. Using an iPad mini mounted next to the Mac, and using the second USB on the Roland 707 keeps it neat, and it doesn’t take up any fader channels!
Good call!
You good sir 😊😊😊
Glad to help
One off the problems, using tidal in recordbox is that, if you make a new playlist of tidal, all playlist is listed in alphabetical order.. which is lock as that, and if you import to collection,t will end all the way down in the bottom of your internal list..
And no sort option on tidal within recordbox..
One benefit having tidal internal, instead of Spotify..
is the quality of the tracks..
the bit rate of the tracks is way ahead on tidal,of course depending, on your tidal subscription..
There are definitely compromises and imperfections in these implementations, it's the same across all platforms.
How do u download your Spotify playlists? I know there are some apps/softwares that offers this service but, my concern is the bit rate quality. 320kbps it's a good offer doesn't it?
Is there a link to the DJ Set playlist in the video?
Thank you for explaining! This was really helpful. I just have a question regarding number 4; How or where can I buy music so that I can for instance use only the acapella etc.? 😊
Best way nowadays is to buy the original tracks and separate the vocals using a program like Ultimate Vocal Remover or RipX.
What’s the name of the guitar intro? Shits hard
Top tip - when you have a faulty lead tie a knot in it so you know it has a fault
Or throw it away? 😀
Hey Phil, is Tidal available in Country Philippines?
And also? So we cant download tracks? Yeah?
Is there a way to get your Spotify songs converted to mp3 so I can use thumb drive?
Streaming in general for dj'ing shouldn't be a thing especially where Spotify is concerned. Yes they are interesting methods of copying the URL but that's no different to copying a TH-cam URL. I'm glad you mentioned about owning the music. That's what dj's should be doing when it comes to dj'ing and as you also say using streaming as discovery only. I'm sick of the ease in which dj's and other non dj's can get hold of infinite amounts of music via streaming.
We believe there is room for both.
This video was Big time click bait! 😠
What is the name of that desk dj
Will this work with Amazon music...?
Yes, we forgot to mention Amazon Music, and it should work fine (obviously you'd need to be using Engine DJ as this is the only system that supports it to our knowledge at the moment).
What the best offline streaming service with serato?
Beatport for electronic, Beatsource for open format.
Doesnt it show in serato along with other streaming services?
No
Can you Use Bluetooth with DJing
No, too much delay/latency
Can I do the same thing with Apple Music?
Yes
wtf is "serato"?! not in the title, nor description, and no links
This just irritates me. Not this video - you've offered some good solutions to help remedy the problem. But Spotify USED to work fine with DJ apps - they removed the ability and it's no good that they did. If I had bought a controller based on Spotify support I'd be in a mess - and apps I DID use to use that supported Spotify don't work anymore. I'm not paying twice the price for SoundCloud or Tidal just because Spotify removed yet another feature! Only reason I'm still on the platform at all is the better playlists and profiles and song tracking that you can only get on Spotify now.
That's the nature of these services unfortunately.
Why there’s no tutorials on tracktor S2 mk3.. ??? 😠😠
What happens after the free trial? Everything is gone?
No, if you start paying again all your playlists etc will still be there I believe.
I just make a playlist in Spotify, then find the tunes on Tidal, make a tidal playlist...
Yeah, that works!
Man..how many dj controllers do you own ? 😅 nice .
We are a school so we do need to be able to teach on all the popular set-ups ✅
Well it's not working for me. It's seems too slow if I tried loading my tracks it takes so much time. I'm using core i5 Intel Iris HP
Is is the service you choose that makes the transfer, not your laptop - you'd just have to be patient.
@@digitaldjtips the service from Tidal? Which of the service should I chose then? Cos it's annoying when I tried to load my next track and it take ages to load
Record pools and call it a day
They are definitely a good way if you're after the latest commercial/dancefloor hits and remixes, and can afford them.
Mostly clickbait workarounds
😍
In short, don't. I'd rather buy second hand CD's. Can be had for a few bucks (if your local record store doesn't rip you off). Mostly cheaper than vinyl. And ripping is easy. Just boring if you have to rip 500 CDs to flac on an SSD.
Fair enough, thanks for sharing
i guess you have to have the PREMIUM version
Good. Digital streaming platforms like Spotify pay the artists almost nothing. If you want to mix tunes for people in a public setting, then have some respect and pay the small amount of money required to purchase that tune. You won't be paying performance royalties like you're supposed to, so at least reimburse the artist for their hard work and talent.
If your tunes "aren't worth paying for", then pick better music!
The venue plays performance royalties, DJs are doing nothing wrong playing music in public.
Option 5 >>> Sidify 😂
No
PLEASE DJ's or WANNA BE DJ's, STOP TELLING EVERYONE TO USE SIDIFY!!! YOUR ACCOUNT WILL GET BANNED AND IF YOU ARE LUCKY THEN AND ONLY THEN THEY MIGHT ALLOW YOU TO HAVE YOUR ACCOUNT BACK. IT TOOK ME DAYS TO GET MY SPOTIFY ACCOUNT BACK, IT TOOK ME ONE TIME TO LEARN MY LESSON, DON'T LISTEN TO PEOPLE ON THESE VIDEOS TELLING YOU SIDIFY IS SAFE CAUSE ITS NOT.
We would never advocate piracy of any type, for the record.
If you set the quality high enough you can sample from it. By default it's 160kbps 🤮
that poor volume fader
Luckily it was just a virtual fader! But it solved a mystery I'ver had for years: Often the audio pan pots on our broadcast software are all the way to the left or right for "no reason". Realised it is the DJ controllers doing it 🤣
👍👍👍👍
Unsubscribing because of this video. Not a channel I want to spend time on if this is the kind of stuff they are going to be doing
Fair enough, thanks for watching up until now and good luck with your DJing 🎶
@americoperez810 you know you don’t have to watch every video by every channel you subscribe to?
I always find the videos useful. I DJ sort of old fashioned as in a normal mixer (Beringer) and a laptop with VDJ and a tablet with Spotify (Premium subscription). I've never had anyone complain, DJ'ing on the Costa Blanca in Spain. I have bought software to record off Spotify to use on VDJ. Keep up the good work Phil.
Sidify is the key😷
No its not, your account will get banned
stop wasting people’s time
Not sure what you’re saying, but you just wasted some of yours
i think the maximum setting for crossfade in spotify is the smoothest (12seconds)
thanks for sharing, it all depends on the music of course
you are as new to this as we all are I guess . you are not giving any useful information at all.. thank you
Erm pretty far from new to this sadly 🤣
