- In today's video, it is time to reveal to you all my brand-new purchase! We'll have no more stones in co. Longford, no stone will be safe as I've bought a kivi-pekka stone picker. Purchased from Hanlons machinery. Well done to those of you who guessed (put two and two together) on my social media posts. Very excited to get using this soon and test her out! Kivi-Pekka! Greetings from Finland and fancy seeing one of these on this channel. We actually live some 50 miles from where this awesome machine was born. We had a contractor pick the stones with one of these from our newly cleared field that was truly littered with stones of varying size. The contractor suggested I haul away the rocks with our tractor and trailer so that he could concentrate on picking the rocks instead of hauling them about once the hopper is full. The hopper indeed raises high enough to be able to empty the load into a trailer. I literally struggled to keep up! So many stones, and the machine didn't jam up even once. You will be very happy.
For anyone wondering, Kivi-Pekka translates to Stone-Pete... or Rock-Harry.. or something thereabouts.

Great investment, you’ll get lots of work for it, not your typical machine eg baler or tank, which is a great advantage for Buissness.

Well wear, I remember before the 35, picking stones into the bucket in Canada on my Brothers farm, back braking ...
First time I've heard someone say I'm only interested in picking stones haha, then again, I wouldn't blame ya with that machine doing the job, well wear.

Great investment Phil. love the vids. just saying we were told by a contractor that picked our stones with that exact machine and he said to harrow the sh#t out of the field with a spring tine Harrow.

The Jackson brothers in Australia have one, same make but twin axle seems to be a really good machine going by some of the picking work they've done with it, its on their TH-cam channel

Savage machine, have used one similar they make a fantastic job and you will have plenty of stone for gateways etc. Made up father Phil has the same overalls as me.

Smart move I'd say Phil, offer a fairly rare but useful service & if you can do a good job it'll surely succeed! If you'd time and the bucks for it, buy a stone crusher and you'd have plenty stone to do up some farm roadways!
Definitely a great idea as an investment. As you know yourself half the country have a slurry tanker or a hedge cutter so this will definitely diversify the contracting side of your business.
Wish I had a had this a few years ago. Instead I had a transport box fill of stones a few times over and a bad back for about a month. 😅

Well, since there's no shortage of stones in Ireland, I'd say you've got quite the growth market. Excited to see how this does for you. Maybe it'll make enough money to buy a new beet harvester? I hope. Best of luck.

All the best with the new toy, it will come into its own for lads re-seeding. Having seen the video you made last year where you sowed with the 4m air drill i can see why you would need this alright. I would suggest you get the 6480 loader tractor back up and running to drive it as you will still need the loader and stone fork for the really big stones/rocks. Saw these been used in Finland before and they are great for the medium sized stuff but stone forks still used for the big stuff. you will probably be fine for the home jobs as yo have the wheeled loader to do that but id say your need the stone fork on front for the contracting work.
Looked the picker up after seeing this Phil, seems to do a hell of a good job. Fair play to you. Did wonder if it might be worth fitting some old conveyor belt inside the hopper where the stones impact.

I have followed similar machine. Great for small cluster of Stones. Stones bigger than football's are more likely to break the tines that flip them into the hopper. It leaves a fluffy row of soil In the middle after it.

Cant wait to see the new beast of a machine in action. Then you'll be farming stones!!
Have used stone rakes I'm the.past for landscape work in clouding the one you have.. Harrow the ground first and then.pick keep the rooter up just in the top 2 inches of ground . It will also do a great job levelling and after two runs it's a lawn finish. It will take getting used to, to get the best performance from the machine. Best of luck with it.
