What is he doing when he says sorry about that?
@@EEEEEEtwothousand In his early videos (like, super old ones, among the first in the channel), he tends to make this mistake where his computer's sound would be loud enough to be caught on the mic, causing an echo in the recording. He usually notices this mid-video and leans down to turn the computer volume down while saying "Sorry about that".
This happened surprisingly often and the commenters of his videos at that time joked about how it's pretty much a meme at that point. So, while it does seem that he doesn't make the mistake now (you can clearly hear that his recordings are more than fine), he acknowledges that it's a meme and he's saying "Sorry about that" while pretending to adjust the volume for the sake of it. Might be annoying for some people, but for me it's a nice little callback to who he was before.

Dubov winning against Carlsen after that blunder is a 2020 thing to happen
Dubov is simply incredible... in a position with a piece less and playing agaist world champion he didn t resign
THIS IS THE DIFERENCE BETWEEN DUBOV AND THE ANOTHER CHESS PLAYERS
I don't think anyone in the field would have resigned a piece down in that position, even if it was lost by the computer. "Try and good things will happen."
Last time I was this early Magnus was still teaching Dubov.
Never thought I would see Carlsen AND Naka knocked out of the same tournament.
all 4 people eliminated were the 4 finalists of the last major tournament
I mean we all know how great Magnus is. But Dubov is so underrated. If he even becomes the World champion himself, I wouldn't be surprised lol. He's a phenomenon.
Everyone: "Dubov blundered that knight and managed to win"
Dubov : "Hmmm... If I sac the knight AND a pawn, I can fool Carlsen into a false sense of supremacy, open up the C file with a double attack and go on a forced king hunt that ends in Carlsen giving me back that knight and perhaps mate. Hell, we live once..." *Horse to C5*

@@leadnitrate2194 bruh
@@leadnitrate2194 Yeah, Magnus not playing well is a treat to his opponents.
No offense, but it sounds like you weren't paying attention to the games themselves - here Dubov hung a piece and won because magnus missed a mate in time pressure. Compare it to Carlsen's wins where he slowly outplays his opponents and never lets go of his advantage. And ok, it was a rapid game, but I wouldn't call such a back and forth game "crushing".
I say this because if you watch Mikhail tals games he confuses opponents and they blunder and this is exactly what happened. Yes he blundered a piece but he got the initiative instead and that is in the style of Mikhail tal
I believe that Dubov was extremely assertive in this game and holds a never-give-up mind, somehow it helped him to accidentally played the "nasty engine line" right after his blunder and Magnus couldn't handle such madness.

What a triumph for Dubov. Amazing chess he's been playing, well deserved!
6:17 Peter Leko in his commentary actually pointed out Qb1 would be more precise because it prevents ideas of pushing c3 and creating passers there because the b5 pawn would hang, which was according to him the only good plan for Magnus to push for more than a draw
these thumbnails are getting out of hand
playing aggressively for y is how Dubov plays chess in general. Regardless of the outcome, i think he is smart not to change. people who actively play forc draws find themselves dead lost much of the times, and i think that would especially be true for a player the likes of Dubov, whose strength is in his creativity and active play. if hes not playing to win and not creating problems for his opponent to have to worry about, his chances are probably not very good, especially when playing an amazing tactician like Magnus. He will just slowly wear you down and then grind you to dust when the endgame is reached. we all know that Carlsen can win endgames from losing positions. So if he is equal or better at that point, you're probably doomed.
That Dubov, so hot right now.
