Here's a great cooking recipe I used to do in creative, make a small box with a one block hole at the front, place 1000 creepers in it. Then throw a splash poison 2 and wait until the creepers stop taking damage. Finally, throw in a splash potion of harming 2 and you got yourself some nicely served creeper ashes.
For anyone wondering, the farm still works as of version 1.19.4, although it isn’t nearly as efficient as he claims, I built a 2 floor version of this like he does in the video, and the farm produced 600 Gun powder in an hour, not bad, but not 3000 as he says. All in all, not bad considering how easy it is to build.
the version presented in the video produced about 200 gunpowder in 10 minutes (and it has three floors), meaning your rates are about the same. 3000+ is what happens if it has 15+ floors.

Ice Animates Cats are what scare creepers to make them go into the hole, it might work with an ocelot but you might have to search that up. You 100% need one of the two tho
@Ice Animates the water would cover the spawning platforms, so no. I would recommend just making a mob grinder. With my one I can get maybe 5 stacks of gunpowder per hour. This one isn't as effecient as shown.
IF YOU NOTICE ITS NOT WORKING ON NEWER VERSIONS ITS YOUR AFK METHOD. dont afk in the air just afk horizonally away about 24 blocks. just see what works
i built it yesterday like i usually do and it wasn't working, gonna have to try that. been using this farm for like a year across versions and this is the first time ive had a problem, thanks for the tip!
hey question, the platform is made to stop mobs from mega spawning in caves below, since you afk on the ground wouldn't you need to light up some cave systems below it too to prevent that?
So for the ones wondering if this works on 1.17, Yes it does. After building the farm make sure its (obviously) dark inside the farm. Make sure to afk 120 blocks above as said in the video with a render distance of 8 chunks. Light the area around the farm. I would recommend building more than 1 layer though. :)
i did everything you said and still nothing is spawning. I only have 1 layer, but there should still be creepers spawning right? The only thing I can think of is its near a pillager outpost but other than that there's barely any caves around
I built this farm and I to say it is really good and efficient and by adding 5-7-10 layers it could be a beast of a farm (I did 5) . Thanks this video hrlped me a lot and I hope you'll make more videos that show easy quick and efficient farm designs.
For anyone asking: This does work on 1.18. I recommend building it on the ground and building the AFK spot 115m above the top of the farm. Also, if you're playing on multiplayer, absolutely no other players can be anywhere near the farm or it _won't work._
just made it in creative with only one stack and it worked fine, then i made it in hardcore mode with 3 stacks and its way slower rate.. i tried 120 blocks and 115 blocks up to make the afk platform, and it still dosent work. do you have to go further up if it stackt? it make no sense -_- u have any ideas?
I dont know what im doing wrong. I build this on a survival server that is running for about 2 years now.....directly at out first base where EVERYTHING is lit up and every cave around there is explored and excavated and illuminated.......and still now after 30 minutes....2 creepers spawned -_-
Hot tip: dig the chamber with the campfires 2 blocks extra downwards This way multiple creepers can fall into it at once (Might have to lower your afk spot 2 more blocks as well tho) Also use soul campfires, they kill quicker, meaning more creepers can spawn faster
Bruh, I remember checking this video out from this random TH-camr I didn't know when it was online for 4 minutes, now it is the most succesful creeper farm video when you search it up. GG my man
I can’t remember how many times i’ve used this farm now. Building the big circular ones are always too big for me. this design is so small and simple. it’s perfect!
Fantastic design and really simple to build. A 3 store model of this baby produces insane amounts and the elegance of the system is simply flawless, great job my man, earned a sub for sure! ;)
Dude thank you so much. Normally these never work and I'm stuck with some massive spawner that took me ages to make and this only took ~20 mins to build minus finding cats. You're a life saver.
Tip - If u want exp and more gun powder u can remove the campfires and use a looting 3 sword instead:) hope this helped i mean most people know this but some people might forget:D
For anybody else wondering why they are getting low creeper spawns you have to light up the caves beneath the farm. If they are not lit up the creepers will spawn down there. I would recommend making any creeper farm in the ocean where there are fewer caves and a larger amount of land to build.
@@ianelst7442 Yes, I thought that as well but before I lit up the caves, some were still spawning in there. I also had to lit up the surrounding few chunks
@@melody9744 I lit up everything just in case. Try it out without lighting it up and see how it does. In my case, I thought it did better when I lit it all up.
oof. I don't play bedrock, but a good trick I heard is that if it doesn't say it can be used in bedrock, it probably wont work in bedrock even if it never mentions it.
I haven't searched all the comments to see if this was mentioned... but after about 6 stacks, the creepers can die to fall damage if they hit the edge of a trapdoor when falling. I've changed the design to alternate powdered snow and trapdoors in the falling area throughout the design. I've stacked my farm 15 high now (still only getting 2k gp/hr idk where the 3k/hr is coming from) with the powdered snow design change and it has solved all fall damage issues
Doing some experimenting I’ve noticed that creepers can jump back up onto the last block of the water stream. I built the campfires a block lower and there are no more problems.👍🏻 Also I changed the blocks under the water to packed ice because I thought they might go a little faster.
@@jay2x660 yes just make sure u build it right and light up alot of areas around you and make a 120 high tower and make a base up there and u should be good
If you have an iron farm functioning - use iron trapdoors instead, their supply is unlimited and the iron is unspent anyway. I have like shulkerbox of iron blocks, and they finally had their use.
I feel like you can never have too much iron, especially when you build with hoppers. I have used up 2400 iron blocks worth of iron on my chest sorting system alone, and I don't even have an iron farm lmao.
@@machonmatiii If you have a semi-decent iron farm that works at least 4-5 hours a day - you will have plenty of iron just lying around. I literally can't use them all, and they finally found their use in this creeper farm. Maybe shulkerbox of iron blocks aren't enough for building massive sorting system - for me that's too much.
btw i modified this farm to use magma blocks and hopper minecarts because i trust them more (idk why) and it still works perfectly fine. with two layers this thing is an absolute beast. cant wait to maximize efficiency. thx man i was looking for a design this good and it does work better than most massive farms
So if you don’t feel like lighting up an area you can build your own about 100 blocks up. Make sure the area under is lit up as is the area above to maximize spawning. Then do this design on top. I love the design it’s absolutely amazing. Works really well. Thank you for the tutorial.
I did some testing and here's some suggestions: - Make sure to build the farm on the highest place, to avoid lighting the caves - Make sure you light every place above the chest level - Make AFK spot at Y level of the chest + 128 - Make AFK spot floor with glass, and make sure no hostile mobs are spawned on the surface at night - Make soul campfires, if possible - Make sure there are 2 full blocks above the hoppers, so more creepers can get damage - In multiplayer make sure no other players are on the surface near the farm, otherwise it won't work
this guy is the best!!!!!!!!!!!!he wrote his facts in the description thts so friendly!!!!!!!!!!!!i hope u reach on the top like other minecraft youtubers!!!!!!!!!!!!!GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!! and thank u for the tutorial it helped a lot
This was a very good build. I made it in 1.19.3 and it worked perfectly in my survival world, I did not have a elytra so I made a soul sand bubble elevator and a pond to jump down to for my AFK spot, I left my Minecraft world running overnight and got a WHOLE double chest of gunpowder when I came back from school. (Edit: It still spawns spiders even with the carpet but it is not a big deal for me. Maybe in 1.19.3, spiders can spawn on carpets.)
Note: You need an extra 170 Building Blocks per floor to cover the trap doors and build on upwards. It can be less if you decide not to fill in the outer edges
@Always smile 1.16.5 optifine. and yes, it works during day. i think you are missing the crucial step of AFKing at world build limit. you have to make a tower upto world build height. it will say you cant tower any higher. make the tower beside the farm and AFK
I took the time and built this farm on bedrock (in survival), then after I finished I wondered why it wasnt working, then I saw his comment saying it doesnt work on bedrock :/
Mate this really works, omg such an easy farm o.O Thank you so much! in 5 minutes I got 2 stacks and a half of gun powder and I don't have all the caves lighted up :)
@@thatguygao4651 There are more chunks loaded when you're at the ground and creepers spawn anywhere but if you're high above the farm the creepers spawn in the farm because less chunks are loaded
I remember on my 1.16.5 world, instead of placing cobble for the spawn platform, I used grass blocks/dirt instead an it worked really well. I AFK for like 10 minutes and I already have a stack of gunpowder.
First of all i highly doubt the afk platform being dirt helped at all, and second of all i know it didnt because he had almost 3 stacks from the same 10 minutes
tip for people having struggles: if you are having issues with your mob spawning, it could be your entity distance, go to video settings, scroll down, and turn it to 175% (also my render distance is 10 chunks) hope this helped! :)
does this work in 1.17.1? it doesnt seem to for me unless im doing something wrong, i lighted all near caves 120 blcok afk platform, althoughi have a mob farm 230ish block away , does that effect the farm? its also built on a beach biome
I've been trying it for like 10 hours and I have the same problem, and what makes it work half is being in your AFK zone all night, and when it dawns they will spawn between about 4 to 6 creepers, and so I will be doing all of them the nights. I only produced 1 stack of gunpowder in 10 hours
To get this farm working on bedrock edition just Afk 30 blocks above the farm instead of 128 blocks it still works on 1.18.33 but it's slow and don't use bonfire or magma blocks because the emit light which stops creeper from spawning.
For those confused about why the water doesn't reach the end of the 16 block long tunnel: I didn't realize it because that part was so fast but he digs down one block and continues that path for a little bit then he digs another block down and continues. This way the water falls down and continues the flow till it reaches the firepit
Will this work even if you just work on building a few blocks away from it or do you have to go 120 blocks up and afk? And edit if so does this farm still work in 1.17
This works on the latest version I have build 2 layers and getting 41 gunpowder It’s not bad and I build it right after I got the elytra so it’s useful in all ways thank you for the simple tutorial

Also, if you're playing on multiplayer, absolutely no other players can be anywhere near the farm or it _won't work._

Nice farm man!you deserve a subscribe!I thing placing magma blocks instead of campfires is a good idea too.
Hot tip: dig the chamber with the campfires 2 blocks extra downwards
This way multiple creepers can fall into it at once
(Might have to lower your afk spot 2 more blocks as well tho)
Also use soul campfires, they kill quicker, meaning more creepers can spawn faster

make a portal and send creepers to nether and drop them from height, ez
Now I'm curious, are the 120 blocks for the afk spot from the level of the building or the fire or the chest?
I tested it, count from the chest. I made three layers and built a temple around it to make it look nice :)

very efficient design, I am working on a TNT build and this gunpowder farm is going to help a lot, thanks
If you go up the 120 blocks to afk the creepers wont spawn in the caves aswell
@@ianelst7442 Yes, I thought that as well but before I lit up the caves, some were still spawning in there. I also had to lit up the surrounding few chunks

What do u mean bedrock
I haven't searched all the comments to see if this was mentioned... but after about 6 stacks, the creepers can die to fall damage if they hit the edge of a trapdoor when falling. I've changed the design to alternate powdered snow and trapdoors in the falling area throughout the design. I've stacked my farm 15 high now (still only getting 2k gp/hr idk where the 3k/hr is coming from) with the powdered snow design change and it has solved all fall damage issues
yes i made 12 layers and i get 1800gp per hour...which i easily get from general mob grinder along with tons of bones
THANKS. also i bet the "3000" gun powder came from how if you place the farm at the bottom of the world its more efficient

just make more beacons
I was just watching vid on a iron farm!
Why?
I feel like you can never have too much iron, especially when you build with hoppers. I have used up 2400 iron blocks worth of iron on my chest sorting system alone, and I don't even have an iron farm lmao.
@@machonmatiii If you have a semi-decent iron farm that works at least 4-5 hours a day - you will have plenty of iron just lying around. - Make sure to build the farm on the highest place, to avoid lighting the caves

- Make AFK spot floor with glass, and make sure no hostile mobs are spawned on the surface at night
- Make soul campfires, if possible
- Make sure there are 2 full blocks above the hoppers, so more creepers can get damage
- In multiplayer make sure no other players are on the surface near the farm, otherwise it won't work
