“There was only really one competent bow…” The black bow would like to have a word with you. It was the OG longbow with a short bow move set. It still wasn’t amazing, sure, but it was definitely the best and felt the best.
I knew you didn’t play an archer character before because the counter talisman comes into place so much with a bow build you can rack up insane damage on people and enemies.
@@UnapologeticZionist the spear talisman it does counter damage, and the enemy is constantly running at you so you’re constantly countering it. You could make the effect even better if you put on the dagger talisman too.

Spear talisman makes counter attacks (hitting the enemy mid swing) deal more damage. Dagger talisman won't do anything for bows, it only helps with ripostes which you need melee for
I recently beat the dlc bow only, here's my build: Black bow, just like ansbac's, it's a long bow but with a short bow move set, with barrage which can still do loads of damage. Radan's bow. I later also got the golem bow. The bone bow, it's not as potent as the black bow, but it's ash of war is a heat seeking barrage which has helped in certain spots. Your exact talismans. I changed my drip frequently.
I really really wanted to do a bow only run and the arrow farming killed my enthusiasm for it. Decided to mod for infinite arrows still not a very fun run for me. I really hoped they'd improve it with the DLC.
On any passive enemy(like 60% of the base game) bows let you stay proactive and pepper them even when they keep distance, which is nice. Lightbows are my fave weapon class in ER, and I have to agree that farming for arrows is a huge pain for the solo archers.
I am not doing any bow playthrough unless they add something like smithscript bow which doesn't require farming/restocking. Btw smithscript daggers are quite fun.
I'll never understand why most consumables don't simply respawn when you rest, it should be like witcher 3 where you craft something once and it just refills based on how much you can hold. It really discourages folks from using consumables because who wants to die to a boss and then instead of going back in, have to go to some other area to go farm shit or even go to a merchant to buy stuff if you're lucky, it's dumb. What's the downside to having unlimited pots, grease etc if you can only hold a limited supply at once? I thought for sure Fromsoft would fix this in the DLC but they just never got around it, I seriously can't think of a single downside to this approach.
I find that the only "reasonable" way to play with bows or crossbows, is using them as a side weapon, or as a tool if you ever need to kill some enemies that are far away. Using them as a main weapon can be difficult, specially during close combat. So I would often use my bow/crossbow for roleplaying and because it feels cool, but if things get too close or too tough, I switch to a straight/curved sword. Not even Gael used his crossbow as a main weapon. If you are roleplaying as a character that only uses bows, then I guess the challenge is the fun part too.
Presently ng7 faith build, erdtree bow at 60 faith, 1 shots almost every guard/soldier in the game. Swap poison and fire arrows in slot 2, for gimmicky things (explodey jars or land squids)
the problem with bows in ER is that they're designed like side arms. they should be designed like main arms. make longbows have the range of charged urumi heavy attack with heavy falloff beyond that range. shortbows have a little less but are faster, greatbows have a little more but are slower, crossbows are same as longbows but fire instantly and need to reload. make all the ammo types refill on rest and find them like talismans instead of consumables. let bows be infused and scale like other weapons. let every bow use every bow ash of war. you can balance them through numbers.
Ayyy I'd say you deserve the support I love your content! Also for Ansbachs longbow does the fan shot glitch work with status effects? If it even is good for stats build up
I found that it does not seem to be 8 arrows worth of status buildup and is more like 2 arrows worth. That’s why I typically go with regular arrows as it is really not worth it to lose 8 status arrows for such a minimal returns. Also you could shoot more than 2 arrows in the time it takes to use the skill. Hope this helped! Thanks for the support!
@@PhantomSouls-04 Huh interesting, anyways I also have done a bow build and what I found to be really helpful was using the black bow and farming blood roses at the Rose Church in Liurnia then I just die to the enemy that spawns there and respawn at the stake of Marika

That’s my favorite bow. Used it for my whole bow only run except on Malenia.
The Bone Bow? Best bow with amazing tracking and Rancor shot. Not sure why you didn’t include it.

Great Video, gonna try the build! Looks like a good and fun challenge.

fresh drip is a must
They gave us combat shields but still cant smash my bow into enemies lmao
My dream weapon would be a bow dryleaf arts fusion

i love the jumping attacks :)
Black Bow with Blood Arrows are good for Metyr
Basically what I did. I stayed on the other side of the arena and Barrage shot it through my scope with all the arrow damage talis and alexander.
Its a easy fix, add the scaling too bows. You could run a build hitting the minimun requirments on any bow and be jjst as effective
i agree, there should be no reason the Ansbach bow, a endgame dlc weapon, should have a D scaling in both strength and dex lmao
W videos fr

Bow Bros rise up
Being able to reclaim bolts and arrows would go a long way to make them more viable.

Try burred bolts on the repeating crossbow
Spear talisman would be optimal 4th talisman slot, im also partial to the Two headed Turtle talisman
I am so used to the increased stamina recovery by now that it is almost a must in all my other builds lmao.

To clarify, one shots all soldiers pre-haligtree, and all civilians including shadow people in dlc.
With AOW headshot
