My boy Charlie is one of the 300 and odd that Winstons Wheels has helped, my boy passed away in November 2020, he spent his last 10 months on a wheelchair loaned from Rachel, without that wheelchair he would have been put to sleep 12 months earlier because the vet suggested it was the best thing to do. I didn’t want to give up on him because his mind was still 100% all there, he was still eating and drinking he just lost the use of his back legs, he had one final hurrah on the wheels before he crossed rainbow bridge and for those extra 10 - 12 months I’ll be forever grateful , it gave me the time to accept and realise he had the best life I could have possibly gave him right up until the end and it was ok that he eventually had to leave, it still hurts but it would have hurt more having to put him to sleep when I knew his mind was still ok. Winstons wheels is a very worthy charity when you see the babies running on their wheels it makes you so happy.
Thank you for highlighting this charity and this issue ❤ I hope that it will inform dog owners of the opportunity they have to give their dog a chance to live their best life, even if they have mobility challenges. Lovely!
This really warmed my heart on a cold November morning. What a lovely story and charity. Followed them on instagram and will be donating xxx Animals are the best.
You wouldn't put a disabled person down? You shouldn't put down a dog or any pet if they are healthy only with mobility problems. Winston wheels I hope your legacy lives on way into the future 😇😊💛
We had a dog who just suddenly overnight lost the use of her back legs and the vet gave her an injection of steroids and said if this doesn't work then it would be best to let her go. In fact he insisted on putting her down. Devastated, he told me that doggy wheel chairs were cruel to the dog. We just accepted that he knew best. I've never stopped wondering if we did the right thing.
In my opinion you made the only choice you could at the time with the information you had. I have found it damaging to think of past decisions in terms of right or wrong, it can have been right at the time and yet at the same time be something that in hindsight I wouldn't have done or wouldn't do again. I believe that you did what you could and you did what you thought was best at the time. You were thinking of your dog's welfare in the best way you knew how to... that's all that counts.
im so happy i found you how can i get hold of you rachel i real need your help me and checko are climing snowdonia we are doing it for charity be great if we helped yours
