- Wesley was out kayaking in the middle of the ocean off the coast of Belize when he noticed something wagging its tail near a fishing shack on a deserted island. Watch how destiny brought this guy and a starving puppy together and the long journey they have to take to both get home.

This is a delightful story - our family has found all our furry additions this way, except not out on the ocean kayaking - I so admire this young man's commitment to his immediate connection to Winston, and vice versa. Thank you for such a loving story.

The trust this dog had with at the time a stranger, how he just sat on the kayak and knew he was safe, that was bittersweet. He is such a happy sweetheart and a tremendous thank you to all of those involved. Angels.

Can you imagine how hungry he was? He was fortunate, time was against him. He is no longer alone, suffering; even dogs have their prayers answered.

It's crazy that Winston went from being stuck on a remote tropical island all the way to the exact opposite in Montana.
He's got a great new life, but if I were that dog, I might be missing the weather just a little!

There’s no better sight than to see a severely emaciated animal getting love and care and recovering to full health. Winston deserves all the happiness he can get after going through what he did on that island. Wonderful story 🥲

I brought a dog back from Korea it's alot more expensive than you might think but entirely possible. That wonderful animal lived another 15 years.

He spend his last 36 hours in vacation with him.
He made sure not to leave him alone again he had to hire somebody for the weekend , and felt sorry for the poor dog for bringing him from sunny beaches and sand to snow allover....

What a wonderful man to rescue this abandoned and starving dog from an island! And then take him to the vet and actually arrange foster care for a few months and then pay to fly him to his home! Unbelievable and absolutely awesome man and story! Thanks so much for sharing this with us!

The lady who fostered this guy is amazing. She gets nothing out of any of it other than seeing the dog going to a happy home and she didn't have to do any of it.

Winston has an unbreakable spirit. Even in as bad a shape as he was, he was still standing and ready to go when his new friend showed up. What a great story. :)
Even if you only spent a few hours with him, I doubt he’d ever forget you. You were the first human he’d seen in who knows how long and the human who finally got him off the island and to some food and shelter

Dogs have about 300x the sense of smell as people so we can only imagine how "smell smart" they are but I'm guessing you are absolutely correct.

A dog never forgets a memorable smell, the dog will always remember his friend as the smell that saved his life.
This is facts I got my dog from a shelter in Pittsburgh by she's staying with my parents while I'm in California for work and sometimes we go a year or so without seeing each other but she never forgets as soon as she catches my scent

Me too, I was in the hospital close to death and my gf showed up. Sure enough, I was wagging my tail and giving her plenty of kisses. However, for some reason I did not appeared on the dodo.

This is how I found my beautiful Irish Wolfhound mix. He was starving and following people with children in a shopping center. I knew he was sick because he was coughing, but I knew he was for me, and I took him to the vet for shots and heartworm treatment. I had him for a wonderful 13.5 years. Such a loving, loyal companion!

It's heartwarming to realize that there are people around who really care about animal welfare and take time and effort and expense to uplift their wellbeing. Animals can show gratefullness, loyalty and love.

In three years it's hard to believe not one soul stopped there and saw this poor dog and just left him there to continue to suffer. This American comes across him and saves him. Says a lot. Compassion for all souls.
