      I actually find meta ygo more interesting because a lot of meta decks are more mechanically complex. Yeah, I get the floaty aspect of most meta decks, but that's not what makes me want to play them. It's what made me want to play zoo, and it's what made me want to play kaijus. I still play graydle-kaijus even now, because it's still fun for me.

    some of the other annoying stereotypes include
    ---------------------------------
    -girls dont play yugioh
    -yugioh is for kids
    -not having deck boxes or mats makes u a bad player
    -a meta deck meaning theyll never lose
    -the idea that nobody still plays yugioh
    -nobody likes the current anime
    -the game encourages you to steal cards from stores
    -deciding someone isnt a real player if they dont have a trade binder

    • @johnnykitsune1949
      @johnnykitsune1949 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      For the lack of deck box/sleeves/ mat, I don't think it makes you a bad player, although I may suggest that person to invest in them to protect their cards from scratching and foreign debris like Cheetos dust and saliva clumping on them, especially at a higher level event.

    I think yugioh is quite difficult in terms of game rules. I'm a game designer, and it is legitimately one of the most messy rulesets Ive ever seen. I still have to stop, and mentally map a chain, and reread cards repeatedly to make sure everything is going correctly. It's not unlearnable though, and it's not even intimidating because the rules let you play along anyway (technically you're cheating) but as you get more obsessed/into the game, you learn the intricacies.
    I think the true difficulty of Yugioh (and the one im still struggling with) is that you need to know your opponents deck intricately to have any hope of negging the correct card to shut them down (or whatever).

    • @daenor7807
      @daenor7807 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yugioh has so many rules because the rules are literally make to be broken, that’s where all the cards come in, allowing you to break the rules within the rules

    • @daenor7807
      @daenor7807 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ok so the game is a box and all the rules are like more walls inside the box that only the cards can let you pass through more inner walls the more options and the more cards and the whole game is more specialized and personal and unpredictable and diverse, that’s where al lithe fun comes from; literally anything could happen

    • @joelfelske
      @joelfelske 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The rule set isn’t complex really. Not a yugioh fanboy btw just got into the game about a month or two ago and it’s took about 3 days to learn everything in the core rulebook. Avoid summons that seem too crunchy for you like link and pendulum summons. Understanding the rest of the game is very simple. The cards have a bit too much text - I’ll give you that - but those aren’t “rules” in my opinion. The rules are simple and the card effects are complex. But they are all clear, well laid out, and versatile.

    I find everything said in this video so true. The lie about when people say that Yu-Gi-Oh! is dead and that it's for nerds really annoys me because it's obvious in the world that YGO is having an increasing fandom even if it isn't that clear. I'm a 15 year old girl from Saudi Arabia and I love YGO. I was the only one in my entire school who knew about it and played it. Sadly, that meant I had nobody to play with even though I just kept buying booster packs for myself. I eventually went to an IGN Convention in Bahrain in 2016 and I was able to participate in the small tournament there. I was surprised with when I saw many people other than normal boys playing. For God's sake, I saw a pregnant woman sitting down on a chair and was dueling her husband. My point is that people really shouldn't think that it's dying or everyone is a nerd.

    creativity is a blast in yugioh, my favorite moment while playing pendulum magicians at YCS dallas was as a side deck option was put kuraz the light monarch to counter anti spell fragrance. going against dark magician deck i pendulum summoned him and targeted my scales, the look on my opponents face was worth it, it completely caught them off guard.sure it got solemn striked but it was still a fun attempt. its just fun the little things you can do in decks

    #11 you are too old to play yugioh
    #12 the more expensive your cards are the more likely you will win the duel

    • @videakias3000

    I don't know if Yu-Gi-Oh is increasing or decreasing, but over-vamping production can also be a tactic if sales are decreasing, because it makes cards prices lower and it gives more access to them. More people would be willing to play if there's more options for them to make easier decks (possibly meta, like Pen. Mags. a while back) for an easy price. They may not have every single meta card in it, like Ash Blossom, but they're far more likely be able to make a good staple portion of the meta deck, then add cheaper substitutes.

    The first one isnt a lie tho. Just because you can get a cheap structure deck or create a $5 deck by buying 40 cards that cost a few cents each, doesnt change the fact that you need a pretty pricy deck to even compete with actual good players. A cheap deck won't win that many matches even if we're just talking about casual games. Most people wont be satisfied with playing with the bare minimum. They will want to improve and duel more powerful opponents. In order to do that, they'll have to buy cards that are more expensive,. It shouldn't be like this, there are so many card games out here that are cheaper than yugioh. Even the OCG's cards are cheaper than the TCG's cards. The only reason why yugioh is more expensive in the west is because of short printing and rarity bumps.

    Sorry, but I kinda have to disagree with the 1st "lie".
    While yes, you do not "need" to buy stuff like Ash Blossom to play a game of Yugioh, it is HEAVILY recommended that you should. I go to a locals every other weekend with a friend. I play Vendreads (it's kinda pricey, but not too bad) vs. my friend who plays Odd-Eyes/Magicians (Needless to say it was a tad bit more expensive to build). Nevertheless, he has more of a shot of winning because he had more money to start off with in this game than I did despite me playing this game for much longer and possessing more knowledge about the game.
    My point is that certain builds you as a player create can ultimately change the flow of the game. But what you put in those decks is was really matters. A $400-$700 deck will usually be better than a $100-$200 deck, unless that deck can be able to counter that "Meta" deck through an weird and obscure way of doing so, or just happens to just be the better deck overall. Money DOES in fact play a huge roll in this game; and if you want to win in some of these events big or small, you have to dish out loads of money in order to stand a chance in any format.
    I love Yu-Gi-Oh as it's own card game and as a series on T.V. I will always be a die-hard fan of it. I just don't want this game to just be a cash grab where the most rich player wins by default.

      Megacharge Z Honestly, money is a deciding factor in everything, so I do agree with you to an extent.
      Although I can assure you my Blue-Eyes deck is capable of winning against most (not all) things, and it's between $75-175 Dollars (mostly because I budgeted).

    Here's one I have heard in the past couple years. Traps/Vanillas/Rituals/etc. are useless. Not true. Each set of cards has an environment they work best with. Basically, a card can be useless if you don't combo or use it right. Even "battle traps." Granted, they aren't always going to be successful, but they do still see competitive play from time to time. The fact is, anyone can play a card, but knowing how to use it in the desired situation takes real skill.

    yugioh is expensive to make a decent deck ,especially for people without a lot of money(like kids)and nearly all the good or necessary cards now are like rare or higher with most commons being just janky specific use cards, and when you add the fact that the good cards of any archtype are usually spread out over like 3 sets it makes it really unfriendly to new players, especially when this game is supposed to be children's card game(children don't usually get a lot of money too obviously) the only thing that has been a redeeming quality for making a decent deck now is the better structure decks they are releasing which actually can put up some competition to what the game has become, who can get the otk.

    i don't really agree with several of these.
    -yes you can technically make any deck you want,but good luck winning with it.
    so if you re not playing with a friend there is practically no reason for you to be creative because the game is broken as fuck.
    try make an old school deck without a shitload of special summons and monsters that actually fight and good luck winning with it.you will be crushed by anyone.
    -as about the summoning part,you are technically right,but the problem has less to do with what kinds of special summons you do and more to do with how many you need to do.if you don't special summon at least 1 monster per turn you are fucked.
    -as about the unbreakable walls and the out to kill decks,they kinda exist,i have been in several instances where the match ended in like 2-5 turns and i could barely defend my self,and several instances where my enemies had a shittone of cards that didn't let me play anything,and even when i did manage to play anything they destroyed it in 1-2 turns.
    i am not saying that the old-school yugioh was perfect,but it was nowhere near as broken as the modern.

    • @daenor7807
      @daenor7807 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I made my own deck and I’d be happy to show you how easy it is to win with your own deck, you just got to grow your deck, build it test it fail fix you’ll learn its strengths and weaknesses and you’ll both learn to trust each other and you’ll learn how to work with it best and you’ll build your own skills as much as your deck and they will be your strategies so you’ll know them best, only negative is it takes time, grow it on duel nexus online and it’s free too, and there is always reason to be creative, if someone else designed your deck and someone else designed its tactics then who really earned your victory? You or them? But if you put all the effort in yourself then the win belongs to you and you alone and is a testament to your skills

      @@daenor7807 yeah suuuuuuure,try play on a tournament with a beatdown deck and then come back and tell me that fairy tale with straight face.a real tournament,not one with your friends.
      the beatdown decks are fucking dead,the equip cards are dead and even the traps cards are barely used any more.where do you see the creativity?
      what are you gonna do?make a burn deck?an exodia deck?a mill deck?nobody uses these strategies anymore(i am not entirely sure about exodia,but even if he is used no way he is usefull in competitive.)
      the biggest problem with yugioh is that almost every deck i play against has monsters that destroy your cards in the very same turn they are summoned.
      having one or two of these things is not bad,but filling your entire deck with destruction cards is just a dick move.
      marshmallon is an almost worthless defence nowadays,you get lucky if you somehow manage to hide behind him for more than one turn.
      i can't both be creative and try not to get killed by these broken decks at the same time,it is either one or the other.
      also i haven't purchased new cards in years and i will be crushed with the ones i have got now meaning that i have got to spent around 60-100 euros maybe more just to have a chance to win let alone have fun.
      i am playing eternal and krosmaga now and i don't feel like going back to yugioh.
      (one of them is a better magic the gathering the other is a hybrid between hearthstone and tower defence games)

    The game is so complex!
    I’d like to apply my opinion to this one. Yes, the game is easy to pick up if you start them off with all of the simpler mechanics, but as someone who’s taught two people how to play, the different type of effect monsters like gemini, all that. Chains as well, and trying to learn all of the extra deck cards and differences. Yes, THOSE are complicated. Easy to learn, hard to master is an okay way to sum it up, but in reality its simple to know the basics, but the inner subtexts of mechanics are what make it complicated for new players. So simple to learn, hard to master isn’t exactly what I would consider accurate. That said, love your content team APS. Have a good day lol.
