It's a really cool connection between Margaret and the Empress arcana. The Empress card has a soft yet strong aura and she is presumably pregnant. When you get this card in a reading, it is about birthing, creating, making new projects, a new house, a new job, an actual baby, etc. Margaret's social link requires you to fuse, create, give birth to new personas.
Wow you really did Margaret great justice. I always liked her design and was bumped that we didn’t learn a lot about her in the game. These little details you highlighted made me appreciate her character as well as her designer a lot more.
It's kinda funny how when I first played the game I was like: "I need to know Margaret..... *NOW*" only to realize I needed to be smart and that it only is available at may the 19th. Sure as many probably wanted I wanted to wow her, but what I did learn and explore through her challenges made me respect her even more and as Yosuke said she is a *Real* women and that us intriguing her despite her not having that much "Personality".
Pretty good and insightful video Since Margaret keeps her cards to her chest, she has an air of mystery and intrigue that separates her from her peers. Caroline and Justine have, IMO, fairly predictable (though enjoyable) character arcs. And FES heavily emphasizes Elizabeth's eventual growth with the dates. But Margaret is different... when she appears, there's never really an idea of what she'll do. And what little moments she has (such as when you fight her) give you a lot to chew on. Still though, there isn't denying that Margaret is mostly mild. This is something the spinoffs greatly improve, particularly in Persona Q. Where she's contrasted heavily with her siblings as someone willing to crack the whip, somewhat harsh and even at times, impatient, with how immature and foolish the antics of the main cast are. I adore her in that game, even if the general characterization in Persona spinoffs titles can be hit or miss.

Plus she’s the oldest of the attendants so it makes sense for her to be more mature unlike Elizabeth who’s childish af and then the literal children of p5 lol
Another great video! Really cool to know more about Margret's character I never expected for it to be written as in depth as it is. Also in 1:23 when it talks about how the soul is fragile and it can easily be led astray, you mentioned it could be a P2 reference because of the rumors mentioned (which I agree with), I also believe it could be a bit connected with Adachi since he's also from the fool arcana (jester but it has a similar role I believe) and since he acts as a paralel to Yu it demonstrates how a pure soul ended up losing it's way, tying up the theme back together and having Yu as the pure soul on one side of it and Adachi on the other side as the one who lost it's way.
Holy shit this is a refreshing take of P4 analysis video. Looking forward to other videos and fingers crossed that you're not one of the P4 players who thins Yukiko's boring

The thing about the rumor comment inaba's descion to believe in the mass media lies is partially due to the intense rumor mill within it, as those sorts of things are more intense within a small town, its why the first enemy of the game is are those mouth things as their name means slip of the tongue, and we constantly see people spreading rumors in the game as well, in fact that's how we find out about the midnight channel
Persona 4 will probably be my favorite i terms of content and themes and love in depth analysis like these to see and learn stuff i may have not known about. thank for these and keep up the good work.
I knew Margaret was an amazing complex character, but now I know a lot more thanks to you. Your analysis was very interesting and compelling. If only you could of squeezed in the little hidden fact that she seems to be a Jojo fan based on PQ and P4D, but I know this is mainly a Golden analysis

Due to dubious Canon unliklihood I excluded info from any of the spinoffs and anime, so as you suspected, I was aiming to give input on her character from the game itself. This also includes leaving out things like her being a sadist and what not that we're added as traits in the fighting games
That makes perfect sense. It would have been weird to state that Margaret cares about the protagonist’s growth, but at the same time, you have that scene in the anime where she allegedly told Nanako that she thinks Protag is a man-whore

Great Video! Short, yet informative. So I was wondering: Is this your second main channel now? You clearly put a lot of work and care into these videos. What exactly determines what goes to "Public" vs. "Private"? This style of video essay is not too different from your previous work.
Jungian archetypes refer to cross cultural consistent character types that express certain ideas or purposes within a story. The tarot, based on star signs go back to the dark ages and even earlier with Roman mythos (around during the events of the bible) and so from a place of archetype and mysticism the Bible, star signs and archetypes are wound in a way that can't be accurately observed without seeing it from all directions. Jung himself regularly quotes and makes mention of the Bible and biblical passages/stories when referring to archetypal ideas in his works, so a work would have to have a fairly shallow take on the tarot not to include allusions to the Bible, broader abrahamic faiths and early religion. For a series so deadset on bringing jungs metaphor and psychology into a somewhat literal realm, allusions to scripture are natural and necessary. Bc persona is a well written and well made series
Margret is my favorite Velvet Room Attendant (Elizabeth my least. She annoys tf outta me actually...). People who claim she has no personality are conflating bombastic extroversion with personality. Margaret is calm, concise and reserved. That is very much a personality.
Don't forget that she loves to tease both Yu and Marie, just subtly. And then there's her not often shown flares of annoyance or anger like during a fusion accident in PQ.

Honestly agree with most that Margrets character is boring but the one main problem I have with her is that her moments of being a likeable/fun character all feel out of character and slightly forced imo.
I'm not sure if you are aware, but the way you phrased this makes responding to it very difficult. You mention you agree with most, so there's a snuck premise, and that the moments are out of character without mentioning which ones. So I'm glad you decided to watch, and earnestly appreciate the engagement. I don't understand your opinion, but with current info can't really rebutt it either.

If anything I meant more that I've heard a few people also share the same opinion with me instead of "Most" and I would say her out of character moments for me are mostly when she is a suddenly more quirky than usual like for instance the puns and stuff which is pretty similar to how Elizabeth and the Twins were handled with them having both very serious and slightly more silly sides but something about how Margaret was handled just feels off to me and I couldn't say why for the life of me.
I don't think it's out of character, the reason is that most of the time we see Margaret being serious or monotonous, so when she gets "playful" or makes a joke you feel that way, but she has given indications that her personality is like that on her social links and when you talk to her in the velvet room
That's like saying you never took your training wheels off your bike bc ur not a bitch. Sure, it's pretty hard to ride a bike as a fully grown adult with training wheels still on, but part of learning how to ride a bike is the process of taking them off.

She's still probably my least favorite P4 social link just due to how little there is to it, but I'm continually impressed with the raw care that they put into everything so that even the flattest character has something to chew on.

she’s always been my personal least favorite attendant but there certainly is more to her than i really paid attention

I really wish persona 6 will have Margret as the new Velvet Room ruler. I feel like she's the best successor of seen characters.
