My husband and I were in Istanbul for 1 week in March 2018 and had the most wonderful time! We are from Canada and never for a second did we feel unsafe. A lot of people speak English and they were so happy and friendly. Also check out the Egyptian Spice Bazaar, it's a little less expensive than the Grand Bazaar. Everything is within walking distance in the tourist area of Istanbul. So many hotels to choose from! We wouldn't hesitate to jump on a plane and go again! We travelled on Turkish Airlines as well and found it to be a lovely airline. Just waiting for another great deal to go back again!

Sorry for the taxi. Some of them do it we know. So public transportation is much cheaper. And also you can rent a car. It is better in Istanbul I guess.

Can you give us some proof about those high rate of rape, murder and traffic accidents? Those numbers are far lower than most other major cities across the words. Prove me wrong.

I`m from Slovenia, and I'm in Istanbul almost every month. Istanbul for me is one of te most beanutiful citys in the world. I just love it❤...the old city, people, food and it is safe. I just love the city. 🙂
Turkey is an underrated destination. Selfishly, I'm glad a lot of people are scared away. But as someone that's lived in Turkey, it's sad seeing those in the tourism industry struggle. They really need people to come thrugh. Amazing food and great cukture.
I don't think tourism industry struggling that much. Even in this bad days, last year it was sixth most visited country in the world: www.dailysabah.com/tourism/2018/02/24/with-399-million-tourists-in-2017-turkey-named-6th-favorite-vacation-spot
Hey! I am seeing a real difference int he last couple of months in the British media. Lots of people talking about that 'Turkey is back', so perhaps we will see a resurgence??!
@@CheapHolidayExpert I think that has to do with the turkish lira dropping in value. Europe can afford a lot more than usual (more than a local can) with a standard middle class holiday budget.
Were you living with your husband/friends or all alone? I feel like the unreported rate of rape is quite high, which makes me think twice especially as a woman.
hello there, im bulgarian but like 10 years i was lived in turkey in istanbul, i never ever get any problem, or any kind of attack. and i reliased they know english or other many language but some of parts don't know because they always pround and happy to speak their main language not care about know or not not any foreign language... and i know turkey also safe country like others but many times social media or others channel who not like turkey they are lies dont trust them, if have got time and many don't think just visit there u will like and love..
Its true that we're proud of our language but not caring is not true. Most of them that you're talking about are either dont know English well enough to speak or too shy to speak in English :) I think its about our culture. We're known and famous about hospitality. I know so many people that can understand English yet they dont want to talk because they dont want to "offend" them because of their speaking. So, we can say that we have 3 kinds of people. 1: Who can easly speak and happy to speak with you. 2: Who doesnt know English but happy to speak or help you if they can like when you ask for an adress they be like "go go go, right, go go go more go, stop" 3: Even if they understand you and want to help you, too shy to speak with you. That third one is minority tho. 4: We all know this kind of people. Selfish and ignorants. Thank god they're still on minority too.

At least 2.1 million Russian tourists come to Turkey every summer. (This number only includes Russians. Turkey is the 6th in the world about tourism) And they never think about is it safe or not. They just live here like their own countries. This is same for people who come from UK. They live like their own country too in Turkey. Lastly, if you are a nice person, people will probably be nice to you in Turkey. Turkish people really like sincerity and friendship.
agree with you. i feel like a tourist in some big hotel resorts in Antalya. there are usually much more Russians than Turks in those hotels and so most of the stuff are Russian and cant communicate with them. Baby sitters, entertainers, waiters and even lifeguards can be Russian.
Actually yes we love sincer people and when I looked this comment it made me soooo happy and I want to say that ı love the people who from other countries you are so sincer tooo we will be waiting you to come here again
Thanks guys for very nice video. Turkey is safe and secure more than most of countries. Hi Saadia, if you have already planed and book it’s nothing gonna be expensive for you. However at that month domestic or international flights, hotels and restaurants are not gonna be on sale because peak season like every other touristic places like Phuket Thailand, Cancun Mexico, Bali Indonesia, Cuba etc. Saying that if you are gonna shopping, it’s gonna be huge discount on all summer clothing. 😂 You will be there best time so enjoy your holiday and please write your experience here 😉
Jonathan Billings You can trust the Turks' understanding of Islam. We are not like Arabs or Persians. If you want to know the true Islam, learn it from the Turks, not from the Arabs. There is an incredible difference between Arabic culture and Turkish culture. So, Istanbul is the only city you can see true Islam and at least as safe as london.
Jonathan Billings Until this time, I saw nothing wrong in the Qur'an.In my book it says that the Qur'an is the last sacred book and Muhammad is the last prophet. When everything is on the way, why does God send a new prophet? Do you also know about the miracles in the Qur'an? I would recommend your research. Thousands of people are becoming Muslims. The most important question is why Christians, Jews and Buddhists don't wonder about a newly sent book. You are downloading the new IOS update immediately, are not you? You stayed in the old version about religion.Being a strong country does not mean you are a rightful country. There is no slavery and colonialism in our religion.Imperialism is the cause of irregularity in the world, not Islam.
Jesus is not a creator or God's son.He is only a prophet of the God.I have not come from him, I will not return to him. There is only one book in Islam. But in Christianity there are 4 different bibles and numerous sects.Christianity is a corrupt religion and you can not understand what I have said without reading the Qur'an.I respect you, but you can not call the Qur'an a liar.Because you didn't read. You must paste it in the TH-cam search section. You must paste it in the TH-cam search section.. watch?v=9xhZ00xnHIA
Jonathan : Christianity forced - Greek people - to convert to Christianity - Islam didn't do that Orthodox Christians preferred Turkish rule over Catholic because Turk didn't force their faith on people Yes after Turkish & Greek independence - Greece sent : Jews & Muslim Turks to Turkey & Turkey sent Greeks in Turkey to Greece it had nothing to do with religion since Turkey was a secular anti religion state in that time under Ataturk like the soviet were anti religion & had nothing to do with religion
I visited Istanbul just over a month ago (May 2018). As a blond Swedish tourist I look apart from the average person in the city. Me and my wife used public transportation a lot (cheap, clean and works great by the way) and visited places all over the city. Never felt unsafe. The city is well worth a visit and I hope to see it again.
how many holidays sultan Ahmet, it was Ramadan back then so people had a lot of islamic ceremonies and prayers that was very interesting at least for me as muslim to pray with people that had different cultures than mine, Marbella restaurant was ammmmmazing and surprisingly cheap, hoqqah cafe was nice the atmosphere of the cafe was really enjoyable , we rented a private yacht at day time and took a tour while having a meal the was a bet pricy but it was fun, that wasn’t my first visit a definitely not the last inshallah because its one of my favorite places to travel to, I hope you guys had a wonderful time like me ,❤️❤️❤️
You guys made my heart warm with this video. I'm Turkish, living in NY. I just clicked out of curiousity and so happy to hear your comments and cute accent when you say Turkish words. And i guess i missed Turkey as well. Thank you for the video.
Thank you for your ideas for Istanbul that will help people that is planing a travel to Turkey. Guys you could be sure that Istanbul is safer much more than Europian cities. Thousands special police forces are making security for every place. Turkish people are very happy to see new friends like you.
Hello! Thank you for your kind comment 4 months ago! Can I ask a favour of you please? I live in Turkey for 20 years and I didn't see any camel or any desert in turkey. When I was in another country, I heard more interesting or horrible things about turkey and I shocked too. So, I didn't surprise to your comment.
how many holidays Excellent idea :) . You must definetely go to Bodrum too. Antalya,Bodrum, Cappadocia, Black Sea Region (Trabzon,Rize,Artvin)... at least search for the photos you will love it. Believe me.
I'm so glad you guys had a good time! It always makes me happy to see tourists happy after their trip to Turkey (or Istanbul to be specific) because sadly, many do think that it's dangerous and that the people arent good.. well, sucks to be them I guess bc they definitely miss out on something 😊
Honestly, we are more polite for tourists than for each of us. In my view you could’ve spent your time in İstanbul much more efficiently however I’m really glad to have you in İstanbul. I hope I’ll see another video in İstanbul. Thanks for your comments about the city and the people.
hello.. I'm from Libya..and I have been in Istanbul for two months..I can assure you that it's very safe here..and people are very nice and kind.. I love it here.
I am really happy that you had a nice trip in Istanbul, your comments about the city were so nice. There is a big misconception about Turkey all around the globe but people like you let the world know that Turkey actually is a nice country. We might have some safety issues but the thing is everywhere is not safe anymore. Istanbul is a magnificent city, I live in Istanbul but it fascinates me everytime. Istanbul is worth giving a shot, there is no need to be scared.
i love how positive you guys are ! just wanted to let you know though (since i felt that you got something not quite right) is that Istanbul actually has more covered land on the asian side than the european continent part. its not just europe + kadikoy, but also a whole lot more than that :)
I really like the connection and the sense of humor between you two guys :) I am looking forward to seeing your upcoming videos :) Greetings from Istanbul.
As a Brit I feel totally safe in Istanbul. I went last year and going again this year and love the people and culture. Best thing about people not wanting to go is it makes it so cheap for those of us that do😁
The security in malls, bazaars and airports has always been there. I lived in Istanbul from 2005 to 2012 and all malls have had metal detectors to walk through since I moved there :) Just a very safety-oriented country as a whole.
hello, love all the nice things you said but just wanted to correct you at 11:03 or so, the security at Ataturk Istanbul airport has always been the same even before the attack happened. just thought it was important to clarify that.
Great video, I've traveled to many of the large cities in Europe, I can agree its pretty safe to be in Istanbul. Probably my favorite city to visit. I would recommend to let Turkish Airlines know that it's your birthday if you ever do travel on that date again with them. They will give you a huge chocolate cake and it tastes AMAZING. Thanks again for the video and looking forward to watching your Japan video before I visit.
thank you, karakoy is the best place to stay because you will be walking distance from both taskim / istiklal street (where they were staying) and grand bazar , Aya sophia, blue mosk.
The Asian side is also Istanbul 😃, 2/3 of Istanbul is in Europe and the rest in Asia. And the security check in Atatürk airport is still the same before and after the airport attack, it’s always very crowded.
for five star hotels it is better to go south to Antalya or possibly Mugla, for the history Aegian part of Turkey and Eastern part of Turkey, for the nature all north coast of Turkey is worth seeing even though south is perfect with the nature it is too hot to travel around it is better for beaches and holiday resorts.. better to note risk of terrorism is going higher when you go Iraq and Iran's border but for the food you need to visit Adana Hatay Gaziantep and that area.. this could be very short version of travel guides in Turkey.. if you like to know more i could tell more and more as i lived in every region in Turkey except north(Black Sea Region)
Thank you! I would love to visit more of Turkey - especially as I studied Ancient History at Uni so there are soooo many historical sites that I'd love to visit!
how many holidays in any point you two ask me about advices in Turkey.. i am probably not even close to being an expert but i know some really cool places that a tourist wouldnt know or you wouldnt be able to find it online.. Wish you guys the best and enjoy the travels you are up to
I were in Istanbul in March 2018 and was most beutiful city and friendly people. I never think that I m unsafe in Istanbul and I travel again in may this year. I cant wait :) I all my friend recomended to visit Istanbul
ohh istanbull my city.. istanbul is most safe and enjoyable place in balkans and east europe. dear guests, istanbul is waiting for you, we are totally safe :) come to istanbul :))
Kadıköy Moda is a neighborhood of Istanbul. Asian side also called as İstanbul :) Turkey is a very modern country. And İstanbul is just a small part of the amazing Turkish pie.
I was so surprised when you called istanbul "relatively small, you can walk everywhere." The area you stayed and wandered was maybe 1/10th of the city 😂 in old town yes, you can do the walking but along the bosphorus there is so much more to see and those areas aren't considered as suburbs, on the contrary central. Suburbs are mostly 1 hour away from the centers. The city has more than one center because it's huge. Kadıköy is one center, taksim another. Also I am so sorry you had to experience a shitty night club in the shittiest area of the city. I get depressed everytime I go to taksim area. Next time try the ones around bebek or kurucesme. Thanks for the content.
If it helps, we didn't go in the nightclub! We just endured the ongoing thrum of TERRIBLE MUSIC for the duration of our stay 😂 And yes - sounds like we need to come back and explore more!!

I go to Istanbul twice a year - I love this city so much. It’s not „small“ though 😁 15 million people live there! It’s true that you can go to most of the major tourist attractions by walking. However there is so much more to see in other areas of the city. Public transport is VERY good and efficient to go everywhere. As for security: I never felt unsafe - and I often walk home in the Beyoglu area after midnight. Well, there are so many people walking around on Istiklal Caddesi even at 3 AM that you are safe in the crowd. Even in 2016 I went there after the attacks and I was totally fine. The city is so huge, the chances to run into a terrorist attack are minuscule. Just like in any other big city. Beware of the traffic though...
Yeah, I didn't think it was that small either... Hahaha. James is obviously comparing to London but that's because he knows about all the extra bits that the tourists don't!!!
Excellent comments for those who worry to go to Istanbul. I would like to correct couple of information you gave which you rightly got confused about. 1. Kadikoy is still Istanbul and considered central since Istanbul spreads both on Europe and Asia peninsulas. 2. Security at the entrance of the airport has been there for almost 40 years. It is not new. Therefore it is safer than many airports in the world. Security at the malls have been there for about 30 years now. So these are not the security measures which are introduced after the recent attacks. Security has tightened a bit more, that is all. I have to say, I feel less secure in Paris, Rome, London, NY and in many other Western cities as petit crime and violent attacks are more common.
Thank you for your comment - I'd pin this if I knew how to... Hahaha. But yes - I've learned this from the comment section now and find it really interesting that security has always been so high. Also - I actually knew that Kadikoy was in Istanbul I just got it wrong for the video... No idea why. Ha!
how many holidays no worries. You have done a great service to those who were contemplating of going there but were scared of by the media. Good job. Have fun with your travels.
just to give some security details: the security measures in Istanbul and big cities in Turkey have always been at high levels. for instance, the x-ray scans in the entrance to shopping malls has been there since they were first opened. To me, it was a big shock that there was no x-ray scanners or gun detectors in the US shopping malls, despite the level of gun terror in the country! I lived there between 2010 & 2015, I never felt safe at malls, and thus did not visit them much. In Europe, it kind of depends on the country, but I did not feel unsafe because I did not go through the scans there. But I think x-ray scan in the grand bazaar a new one, before there used to be one or two policemen/women in each entry, I do not remember going through a scan there. About the airport security, there has always been a double check system in the airports (even before the infamous attack in Ataturk Airport, Istanbul): one before entering the terminal, another within the terminal (for going to the US, + a smaller one before entering the plane). The change is where people enter the airport by car, there used to be a minimum police presence, after the attack there are more police and increased frequency of random checks for the cars. (the attackers were able to enter by car, and opened fire in the first security check; thus the authorities increased the measures in the main entrance to the airport).
Yes, I've learned this from the comments since! I've never been anywhere with such a strong security presence before and I naively assumed it was in reaction to 2016. Thank you for helping to educate me : ) !
Lovely video! If you are going to visit Istanbul again, I would recommend you to eat "MANTI" on top of the Galata Tower. Beautiful view and amazing food.
P.S: Turkey always had the double security check eve before any kind of attack so people visiting should be aware that it is same in all airports in Turkey
after the airport you dont have to take taxi only 1 pound metro is close to airport you dont have to pay 14 pound to go to city center you have to fix it dont let people pay taxi if you dont have baggage
For food, highly recommended to take advise before to go any restaurants because less than %5 percent of restaurants are really good but i can't say you should go and try others which are in %95 ..
Istanbul is Not the only place to visit in Turkey, you should visit Cappadocia,Fethiye,Bodrum,Kemer,Antalya,Kas,Alanya,Side,Pammukale,Sumela Monastry(Trabzon),Gallipoli,Bozcaada,Bergama,Gokceada,Cesme/Alacati.
Someone from Istanbul came to our school as a foreign exchange student last month. Me and him are now really good friends but he is leaving tommorow. I hope to see him again 😔
Thank you for the video! Turkey is a safe country. The way is the portrayed in the media is completely wrong. It is a beautiful country has beaches, lots of natural beauties and historical monuments. Btw I’m Turkish and i’m proud of it.
Really like your video. Just wanted to mention a few things as someone who lives there. - Kadıköy is an area in Istanbul's Anatolian side. In the video, it sounded like you went to some other city. - Security wise, security at the Atatürk Airport is not unusual. It has been the way it is now even when the attack happened. It has been that way for a long time. Same thing for security at the malls. - I don't think that the possibility of a terrorist attack is not higher than it is in any other big city. So glad that you had a nice time here :) Hope you come again
Hello! Thanks for your comment : ) We've never been to an airport where you've had to go through security to get INSIDE the airport before - it really caught us off guard (and we really did have to run to make our flight - hahaha!). And yeah - we live in London and we're at a similar threat level as well.
how many holidays yes you're right about that it is not very common to have security at the entrance. Just wanted to say that they didn't start doing it after the attack at the airport. I meant it was usual for that airport. 😂 Glad you caught your flight though it is a very stressful situation.
Hello again! Your comments were so helpful first time round that I wondered if you might be able to help me? I would not worry about terrorists in Istanbul more than taxi drivers and aggresive shopkeepers. Taxi drivers particularly, they will at least try to rip you off for sure. 6:28 Estimating how much revenue a shop makes is probably the most Turkish thing ever. Love your thinking.
istanbul is an extremely safe and safe city, It is normal. But since it is crowded, Make sure all the people who live in Turkey are extremely tolerant, it is insightful and helpful.
I'm glad you two had a good time in Istanbul. It's one of my favorite cities. But, you know, a lot of western cities are dangerous too. I think it's important to put these discussions about safety into context & consider who your audience might be. Thanks for listening.
Yes - we live in London and I'm very aware that to tourists this is also a potentially 'dangerous' area (we're at a 'severe' risk threat right now) and therefore I wouldn't be surprised to hear that they had researched this before arriving in the UK.
My husband and I were in Istanbul for 1 week in March 2018 and had the most wonderful time! We are from Canada and never for a second did we feel unsafe. Can you give us some proof about those high rate of rape, murder and traffic accidents? Those numbers are far lower than most other major cities across the words. Prove me wrong.
Thanks for your objective comments. We hope to see you again.Good luck

I`m from Slovenia, and I'm in Istanbul almost every month. Istanbul for me is one of te most beanutiful citys in the world. I just love it❤...the old city, people, food and it is safe. I just love the city. 🙂
Just back from Istanbul and totally agree with everything you have said! In love with the city and can’t wait visit again
Me neither. How busy was it when you visited? Was quiet when we went but it was pre-Easter so out of season.
how many holidays Just got back last week but yeah I wouldn’t say it was that busy either. A nice level of busyness haha
We are always happy to see you with a smiling face in our country . ☺
glad you enjoyed it
I do have a suggestion regarding tourism though, wifi in the international airport, that’s really a must
Turkey is an underrated destination. Selfishly, I'm glad a lot of people are scared away. But as someone that's lived in Turkey, it's sad seeing those in the tourism industry struggle. They really need people to come thrugh. Amazing food and great cukture.
I don't think tourism industry struggling that much. Even in this bad days, last year it was sixth most visited country in the world:
www.dailysabah.com/tourism/2018/02/24/with-399-million-tourists-in-2017-turkey-named-6th-favorite-vacation-spot
it used to struggle(in 2016)
OF COURSE it is safe!!!! I live there! Stop calling İstanbul unsafe everyone, please! Safer than MANY cities, indeed!
hello there, im bulgarian but like 10 years i was lived in turkey in istanbul, i never ever get any problem, or any kind of attack. and i reliased they know english or other many language but some of parts don't know because they always pround and happy to speak their main language not care about know or not not any foreign language... and i know turkey also safe country like others but many times social media or others channel who not like turkey they are lies dont trust them, if have got time and many don't think just visit there u will like and love..

Здравей, може ли малко информация за живеенето в Турция? Какви документи ти трябваха за преместване в държава извън ЕС?
Next time plese try to visit

2-) KAPADOKYA
3-) EPHESUS / KUSADASI - IZMIR
4-) OLU DENIZ - FETHIYE
May - June : Not too hot but still you can swim. Not too expensive. Not too busy
July - Aug : Expensive, extremly hot and too busy
Sept - Not extremly hot, not busy however very expensive
Thanks for the advice!!
Izmir is the most historical site it is symrna after all
Thanks! I am traveling in september. Can you tell me in what regards its going to be expensive?
Hi Saadia, if you have already planed and book it’s nothing gonna be expensive for you.
However at that month domestic or international flights, hotels and restaurants are not gonna be on sale because peak season like every other touristic places like Phuket Thailand, Cancun Mexico, Bali Indonesia, Cuba etc. Saying that if you are gonna shopping, it’s gonna be huge discount on all summer clothing. 😂
You will be there best time so enjoy your holiday and please write your experience here 😉
Which one is better for a trip in November? Ephesus or Antalya? Both have archaeological sites right?
Safer than USA.
There is no slavery and colonialism in our religion.Imperialism is the cause of irregularity in the world, not Islam.
watch this australian guy: watch?v=9xhZ00xnHIA
Jesus is not a creator or God's son.He is only a prophet of the God.I have not come from him, I will not return to him. There is only one book in Islam. But in Christianity there are 4 different bibles and numerous sects.Christianity is a corrupt religion and you can not understand what I have said without reading the Qur'an.I respect you, but you can not call the Qur'an a liar.Because you didn't read. You must paste it in the TH-cam search section. You must paste it in the TH-cam search section.. watch?v=9xhZ00xnHIA
Jonathan : Christianity forced - Greek people - to convert to Christianity - Islam didn't do that
Orthodox Christians preferred Turkish rule over Catholic because Turk didn't force their faith on people
Yes after Turkish & Greek independence - Greece sent : Jews & Muslim Turks to Turkey & Turkey sent Greeks in Turkey to Greece it had nothing to do with religion since Turkey was a secular anti religion state in that time under Ataturk like the soviet were anti religion & had nothing to do with religion
I have been in Turkey 5 times. Even we had honeymoon there with my American husband. It was incredible in a 5 star hotel. And very safe

Yesssss. I loved that people were around all the time!!
I've been there last month,,definitely safe i had a nice time 😍😍❤
What was your favourite part, sara?!!
how many holidays sultan Ahmet, it was Ramadan back then so people had a lot of islamic ceremonies and prayers that was very interesting at least for me as muslim to pray with people that had different cultures than mine, Marbella restaurant was ammmmmazing and surprisingly cheap, hoqqah cafe was nice the atmosphere of the cafe was really enjoyable , we rented a private yacht at day time and took a tour while having a meal the was a bet pricy but it was fun, that wasn’t my first visit a definitely not the last inshallah because its one of my favorite places to travel to, I hope you guys had a wonderful time like me ,❤️❤️❤️
sara F that sounds AMAZING. I shall take on your recommendations for next time!

I'm working on something that will see me return to Turkey and so I'd like to speak to some locals before I come. There's no way to do this easily on TH-cam but I'm on Twitter on @chchchchelsea and you can email me here: howmanyholidays.com/contact/ - if you're able to get in touch that would be amazing! Thank you! Have a great day!
Just been with hubby and 2 children under 3 amazing, totally safe and was there a week.
Yeah it is. Just come and see for yourselfs. I have seen peoplr being shocked to see that we do not ride camels and there are skyscrapers in İstanbul.
We did and we loved it!
ilke_yigiter don't mind them, when I said I have never seen a camel in Turkey, then they asked is there any terrorist in my relatives :(
yalçın biçer ...i am not sure if i should laugh or cry.
ilke_yigiter 😂 is best
I live in Turkey for 20 years and I didn't see any camel or any desert in turkey. When I was in another country, I heard more interesting or horrible things about turkey and I shocked too. So, I didn't surprise to your comment.
Thank you so much for your nice and objective comments, it was really entertaining to watch your memories and listen how you found the city.
Thanks for your comment!!
people think we ride camels, we speak arabic in turkey. that makes me crazy. and thanks for your nice words! we would like to see you again in turkey!
You two must come to Antalya. This city is more beautiful than Istanbul. Come here and enjoy the sun and sea✨😍
It's on the list!!!
how many holidays Excellent idea :) . You must definetely go to Bodrum too. Antalya,Bodrum, Cappadocia, Black Sea Region (Trabzon,Rize,Artvin)... at least search for the photos you will love it. Believe me.
It all looks so amazing! I've been watching lots of vlogs about it : )
I'm so glad you guys had a good time! It always makes me happy to see tourists happy after their trip to Turkey (or Istanbul to be specific) because sadly, many do think that it's dangerous and that the people arent good.. well, sucks to be them I guess bc they definitely miss out on something 😊
I am getting to word out, don't you worry!!!
Honestly, we are more polite for tourists than for each of us. In my view you could’ve spent your time in İstanbul much more efficiently however I’m really glad to have you in İstanbul. I hope I’ll see another video in İstanbul. Thanks for your comments about the city and the people.
Thank you guys for saying the truth. We're glad that you are happy
hello.. I'm from Libya..and I have been in Istanbul for two months..I can assure you that it's very safe here..and people are very nice and kind.. I love it here.
if you like Istanbul, I think you should visit the rest of Turkey!
I would love to!

nilüfer sonmez I loved Istanbul and have been coming to Turkey for 30 years- I love it .I hope to visit many other cities in the future .

wololooo xd it exists
i would say you made a through and reliable research about the city, many useful information for first time visitors, cheers
thanks a lot guys for being so objective about my country. i really appreciate it. hope istanbul will welcome you guys again :))
Thanks Ömer! I hope we will too!
Kadıköy is also İstanbul. The city is on the both sides of the two continents. Glad that you guys had good time.
Yeah, I definitely knew this but have managed to say it totally wrong on the video. WELL DONE ME 😂
Suuuper nice to hear your thoughts about Istanbul and I’m glad you enjoyed! Greetings 🇹🇷 🙌🏼
I am so obsessed with coming back and exploring the country more!!
i love how positive you guys are !
just wanted to let you know though (since i felt that you got something not quite right) is that Istanbul actually has more covered land on the asian side than the european continent part. its not just europe + kadikoy, but also a whole lot more than that :)
Stupidly, I edited out the bit where I said this CORRECTLY because I fluffed up my lines 🙈 WHAT A PLONKER!!
Thank you for making this video. I am visiting Istanbul next month and I was looking for some review about bitaksi app :)
Yes! Used it again when I visited for work last Nov and worked well then too ☺️ Have the best time!!
@@CheapHolidayExpert Thanks for your reply 😊
I really like the connection and the sense of humor between you two guys :) I am looking forward to seeing your upcoming videos :) Greetings from Istanbul.
Thanks Eren!!
As a Brit I feel totally safe in Istanbul. I went last year and going again this year and love the people and culture. Best thing about people not wanting to go is it makes it so cheap for those of us that do😁
Yes, and even cheaper at the moment... Unbelievable!
The security in malls, bazaars and airports has always been there. I lived in Istanbul from 2005 to 2012 and all malls have had metal detectors to walk through since I moved there :) Just a very safety-oriented country as a whole.
Thanks Jake - I am learning lots through the comments!!
You both are awesome, thanks for the good info, cheers!
Nice clip, funny ending. Come back again, always happy to host lovely people like yourselves.
Thank you for the beautiful video, objective approach also. We also expect some other videos from you like " Is Paris or New York is safe etc...."
Thank you for making this kind and warm video about my country. Please come back :)
I want to!
I am from Istanbul and thank ye for yours good comments
hello, love all the nice things you said but just wanted to correct you at 11:03 or so, the security at Ataturk Istanbul airport has always been the same even before the attack happened. just thought it was important to clarify that.
Yes - I have learned this now from all of the comments 🙈I shall try not to assume in the future!!
you went to mitte?!?!? even locals don't go there anymore because as you guys said 'mitte shitte' :)
Hahahahaha - we have learned our lesson!!!
i'm glad you guys enjoyed istanbul.
Ooooooooooh I wish I had known that!!!
Honest review! Thank you, and welcome back. If I Live in Europe, "first place to visit" nowadays, because of low prices.
Yes - I can't believe the exchange rate at the moment...
I’m living in Istanbul and i can’t visit every history places yet. There is sooo many places to visit. You should come again
thank you, karakoy is the best place to stay because you will be walking distance from both taskim / istiklal street (where they were staying) and grand bazar , Aya sophia, blue mosk.
Yeah, I think if we were to go back we'd stay in Karakoy. Or even Kadikoy!! I hear there are starting to be more places to stay across there as well.
The Asian side is also Istanbul 😃, 2/3 of Istanbul is in Europe and the rest in Asia. And the security check in Atatürk airport is still the same before and after the airport attack, it’s always very crowded.
I ACTUALLY KNEW THIS - but just got it wrong for the bloody video 😂My apologies!
how many holidays No problem 😉
for five star hotels it is better to go south to Antalya or possibly Mugla, for the history Aegian part of Turkey and Eastern part of Turkey, for the nature all north coast of Turkey is worth seeing even though south is perfect with the nature it is too hot to travel around it is better for beaches and holiday resorts.. better to note risk of terrorism is going higher when you go Iraq and Iran's border but for the food you need to visit Adana Hatay Gaziantep and that area.. this could be very short version of travel guides in Turkey.. if you like to know more i could tell more and more as i lived in every region in Turkey except north(Black Sea Region)
Wish you guys the best and enjoy the travels you are up to
Thanks for the support 🌈 ❤️
I went for 2 weeks early November 2018, and It is 100% safe
Great video, explains Istanbul very well.
FYI, Kadıköy is also a part of Istanbul. Istanbul is spread over Europe and Asia, divided by the river (Bosphorus) running in between.
Thanks for clarifying!!!
Got any tips for me . I want to come with my husband and 4 young children
This made me so happy! I can’t wait to go!
Have the best time!
Hi Solen - you seemed so helpful when you first commented so I wondered if you could help me! There is a need for correction. Istanbul is not only in Europe but also in Asia. Kadikoy is a part of Istanbul, not a particular city.
I know - I'm an idiot. I actually even knew this when we went, I just said it wrong in the video!!!
No no, you are not. It happens, no problem
Of coarse it’s safe, it’s huge and there’s plenty to see on both sides of the Bosporus, I’ve been lots of times it’s a great place to visit
I SUPPORT 100% EVERY SINGLE WORD YOU LOVELY GUYS SAID.MORE SO THERE ARE ENDLESS OTHER THINGS TO EXPERIENCE IN WHOLE OF TURKEY.THERE IS SOMETHING DISCOVER FOR EVERYONE IN TURKEY ALL YEAR AROUND.TURKEY IS ONE OF THE MUST SEE PLACE ON THE PLANET.AFTER ALL TURKISH PEOPLE OFFERS LOTS OF LOVE & RESPECT TO ALL VISITORS.I TRAVELED MANY COUNTRIES AROUND THE WORLD AND IT HAPPENED TO BE I HAD TO KEEP TURKEY TO THE LAST TRAVEL AROUND THE WHOLE OF ANATOLIA.
Thank you for helping to educate me : ) !
how many holidays Thank you for sharing your experience and opinion :) and safe travels !
Been Turkey it’s way safer then 99% of the country’s in the world
I want to visit this place someday. I hear it is wonderful for photography.
It's amazing Jon - definitely recommend!!
The thing at the airport is not just at that one, it's a thing at every airport in Turkey
Really interesting. Never seen anything like it before!
Lovely video!
If you are going to visit Istanbul again, I would recommend you to eat "MANTI" on top of the Galata Tower. Beautiful view and amazing food.
Yes! We actually went up there in the other video that's on my channel!
Great vid guys I was there a couple of years ago and had a great time!!
P.S: Turkey always had the double security check eve before any kind of attack so people visiting should be aware that it is same in all airports in Turkey
Yes, I'm learning this now. Never seen it before!
Istanbul safe and cute. Great for girls trip, too. No worries. You guys are really cool I will definitely follow you.
@10:11 its a BIG mood
after the airport you dont have to take taxi only 1 pound metro is close to airport you dont have to pay 14 pound to go to city center you have to fix it dont let people pay taxi if you dont have baggage
Unfortunately we arrived too late for the metro : (
For food, highly recommended to take advise before to go any restaurants because less than %5 percent of restaurants are really good but i can't say you should go and try others which are in %95 ..
Thanks for this list - very helpful!
Someone from Istanbul came to our school as a foreign exchange student last month. Me and him are now really good friends but he is leaving tommorow. I hope to see him again 😔
I hope you get to go and visit him!!!
New to your channel guys. Excellent stuff. Keep it up! xx
I'm working on something that will see me return to Turkey and so I'd like to speak to some locals before I come. There's no way to do this easily on TH-cam but I'm on Twitter on @chchchchelsea and you can email me here: howmanyholidays.com/contact/ - if you're able to get in touch that would be amazing! Thank you! Have a great day!
Dude Istanbul is as safe as other metropolitan cities, but the same rule applies for Istanbul: do not go certain locations and you are ok
Agreed!
The metro is pretty good. You can try that as well.
I was in that hotel and yeah absolutely worthy...I lived in Istanbul for 6 months
istanbul is an extremely safe and safe city,
It is normal. But since it is crowded,
Make sure all the people who live in Turkey are extremely tolerant, it is insightful and helpful.
Welcome to Turkey guys have fun
I'm glad you two had a good time in Istanbul. It's one of my favorite cities. But, you know, a lot of western cities are dangerous too. I think it's important to put these discussions about safety into context & consider who your audience might be. Thanks for listening.
Yes - we live in London and I'm very aware that to tourists this is also a potentially 'dangerous' area (we're at a 'severe' risk threat right now) and therefore I wouldn't be surprised to hear that they had researched this before arriving in the UK.
Thank you for all objective comments.
'Istanbul is in Europe and you go to Kadikoy which is in Asia' is wrong. Kadıkoy is also a part of Istanbul and Istanbul is both in Europe and Asia.
Thanks for explaining!
