    Here’s my story, two years ago I stopped drinking alcohol stopped eating or drinking any form of sugar. Stopped eating bread grains such as cereals pasta. Started slowly skipping breakfast then eventually lunch. It was hard at first but I was determined to do it. I only eat once a day now. Sometimes I have a cheat meal. Sometimes fast 48 hours sometimes 72 sometimes 24. Starting weight 248 pounds weight as of today 168 pounds. It isn’t easy at first but we’ll worth it. My energy is so good and I can walk without pain in my legs after all that excess weight is gone. And ill be 58 in nine days.

    I love fasting. Been obese for 40 years and nothing worked permanently. I never even considered not eating at all. I prayed my heart out and I believe God led me to IF! It's the easiest thing I have ever done. Down 100 lbs and over half way to my goal. I feel better in every way. Don't get hungry hardly ever and when I do, I just wait it out. My longest fast was 7 days. Just came off of a 5-day fast and will do another one starting Monday. I won't ever go back to 3 squares and snacks. I know for sure that I don't need to eat like that anymore. I eat celebratory foods for my birthday and Thanksgiving/Christmas and then it's right back on to fasting. Right now I'm eating only 3 days a week until I hit my goal and then I'll either do OMAD or Alternate Day Fasting. It's the way I can live the rest of my life. By the way, I'm a female and 66 years old and have absolutely no problems with fasting. Love it!!!!

      "If" I understand Dr. Fung correctly it is OK for us to have snacks, it just depends on what the snacks are. Basically nothing that will spike our insulin.
      So instead of just avoiding the obvious things like cookies, also avoid things labaled low fat because to make up for the lack of taste from taking out the fat, they add lots of sugar and carbs. Instead snack on baby carrots (18 on the insulin index) or cucumber slices (17 on the insulin index).
      I can fast for days easily. My problem is when I come off the fast I over eat AND what I eat is trash. So I'm trying a different approach to weight loss where instead of fasting, or even "calories in calories out" (check out Dr. Fung's video on that), I am going to take Dr Fung's advice and just eat right by sticking to foods that are low on the glycemic and insulin indexes. . . .

      Hi do you have any recommendations. I have endometriosis and I would like to get healthy with hopes of pain relief. I want to try this but I don't know what to do or where to start.

    • @dianaaugustine5438
      @dianaaugustine5438 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Tryvoie2 I can’t promise you it will solve endometriosis. But being overweight sure is painful in many ways I didn’t even realize, so it should definitely help. What my now husband and I did was just pick one meal a day to eat. We would try to make it roughly 1000-1200 calories, but we didn’t really count. My husband liked to go to a restaurant with the calorie counts on it so he didn’t have to do any calculations. And we took a multivitamin with our meal. Outside of that meal we had only water, and black unsweetened coffee or unsweetened tea. No other food or beverage.
      It works great! I did it for a year and I hit the 100 lbs lost mark! I started getting a regular period for the first time in my life and am now pregnant with our first child!
      Fasting is mentally challenging, but if you can just push through the first 6 weeks or so, you begin to forget about it because it becomes a habit. You just have to remind your self that you are not starving. You’ve already eaten this meal and you are now taking from fat stores.
      Once it becomes a habit, it is in my. Personal opinion, the easiest diet to maintain, because you can eat anything you want. You just have to have it in your eating window. Also, if you can find someone else to do it with you and you, I found the support and accountability very helpful. Good Luck!

    • @Tryvoie2
      @Tryvoie2 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your response. I'm 70lbs over weight right now. I want to do the 16:8. Did you guys make healthier food choices and did you exercise?

    • @dianaaugustine5438
      @dianaaugustine5438 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Tryvoie2 No, we did our normal evening walks we always do, but we didn’t do any extra exercise or change our food choices at all. We didn’t want to do anything that we didn’t see ourselves being able to sustain for the foreseeable future.
      I am also of the opinion that when you are severely overweight as I was, doing hard exercise is more harmful than helpful to the body. Just do what you need to do to make you feel strong and keep you capable of living your life.
      I personally recommend OMAD over 16:8 because I have no self control and once my eating window opens, I can’t stop myself until I am very full. So I actually gain weight on 16:8 because I get full, but then later in that window I just keep eating because a bit of room has opened up in my stomach. It was just better for me to not give myself the option to eat for a longer period of time. Plus after a while, I no longer felt hunger outside of my 1 hour eating window.
      Now that I’m pregnant though, I can’t really keep up the 1 hour window due to nausea and lightheadedness so I’m trying to figure out how to control my portions and I’m really struggling with it.
      But everyone is different. If you are good at having a couple of portion controlled meals during that window, you’ll probably have more success with it than I did. Try it and see what works for you. I know some people who are very happy doing 16:8.

    Thank you doctor Fung. Having been a type two diabetic for over 23 years I am now off all 170 units of insulin and 2,000 mil of Metformin. I’m down 45 lbs. This is a result of intermittent fasting 16-20 hours a day and also some extended fasts of 72 hours. I also eat under 20 grams of carbohydrates a day. Although after 9 months of this lifestyle my BS’s aren’t where I’d like them to be, overall I’m healthier at 65 then I was at 45 years old. It gets discouraging sometimes when the numbers don’t improve as fast as you’d hoped but I’m determined to keep moving forward with this lifestyle and looking forward to one day being able to say I’ve finally beat diabetes. Thank you for all you share here on your channel and for your amazing book “ The Diabetes Code”.

    I had success with OMAD, then I got impatient and went for longer fasts but I created a bad relationship with food by having long fasts and binge eating. It threw my body out of whack because I stopped eating at a similar time each day. I’ve managed to get back on track with OMAD by balancing my hormones as I consistently eat once per day at around 5pm. Fasting is great but don’t over do it. Like everything it’s moderation :)

    Two months ago, I had my labs done after one and a half year of not visiting the doctor due to Covid precaution. The results came back with high blood pressure, type two diabetes and high cholesterol. I told my brother about it, and he suggested watching videos Dr. J Fung. As of today, started fasting a month ago, I've lost 11lbs. My jeans that I couldn't fit into for years slip right up. Thirty more pounds and I should be at my ideal weight for my height.
    My fasting plan goes as follow: My last meal is between 5 and 6pm. My first meal is between 12 to 1pm, two meals per day. In addition, I cut out dairies, reduce my race consumption by 75% each meal and *ABSOLUTELY* no fast food, junk food and sugary drinks. My girlfriend started with me and she also lost 11lbs so far (in a month).

    I started fasting on accident about three weeks ago... I say on accident because the first week of fasting wasn't really intentional, I was just feeling really depressed and I didn't feel like doing anything, even eating... So that's when I learned that I really could make it through the day without eating, so I kept fasting... Now in about three weeks, usually eating one meal a day, my 3XL shorts have become too big and I had to search for my old 2XL shorts...

    My doctor just prescribed Intermittent Fasting with Low Carb for me to Lose Weight as a Menopausal Woman, age 52. The work you are doing, Dr. Fung, is percolating to the Medical Community the world over - I live in Houston Texas, and when she prescribed this for me with how Menopause Sucks for women and that realistically, we need to eat less and move more, and Intermittent Fasting is the way to go.

    I have a massive appetite. I am overweight and in my 50’s. I’ve always been small and healthy but now…well, I talked to my doctor about an appetite suppressant and he asked me if I thought about fasting. I didn’t know anything about it. I didn’t think I could do it with my big appetite it it totally works for me. I’ve combined it with a low carb diet and I have lost over 30 pounds in no time. I’ll admit I cheat a lot. I love my potato chips and refuse to give them up. I’ve reduced it to a weekly treat and now I’m ready to go biweekly to push me a bit harder.

    Thank you doctor for the valuable videos. I started fast with 2 meals a day by skipping breakfast in 2018. It was for my son’s wedding so that I can fit in a nice dress that I liked. Within 2 months my BMI got to normal, I shredded 10 lbs and well fit in size 4-6.
    Lately. I was not just forgot to fast. However I had been eating all day long was fruits and refined carbs such as breads and buns, chow-fun, chow-mein. I thought it was healthy, because I wasn’t eating rice, wasn’t drinking sweet boba teas and cokes. I didn’t realized the fruits also made me fat because of the fructose. I was fatter in an unhealthy way that I had lots of water retention. From size 4 to 12 in a short time. My heart beat went down because was not enough blood to supply to that xx cell.
    Thank you doctor Jason Fung’s intermittent fast lecture. I love he said “don’t count calories”. One can of soda drinks has 1000 calories does not equal to one bowl of green broccoli that also has the same amount of calories. This make so much Sense.
    I again applied IF one to two meals a day for 2 months and now get back to my size 4 dress and have a normal BMI again. Thank you doctor. ❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉 I’m on my way to try 90 days canavore with doctor Ken Berry to get more health benefits, thanks so much doctorsssssss. As I ate more meat and fish now, my heart rate is stronger and had been back to normal at 60s + . However, I experienced minor acid reflux as I’m adapting to more meat diet. Thanks doctor Fung for the 2 spoon of ACV mixed with Water to drink before meal. That helped get rid of my acid flux temporary now. Will see… never say THANKS enough. Love ❤❤❤

      Agree. That was the first time ever I began to understand this process, it just made sense. Meanwhile for 20 years doctors and diabetic educators been explaining it to me but it went over my head. Watched Dr Fung and Butter Bob Briggs and It's like I'm finally understanding everything. Wonderful men.

    After reading doctor Jason's book about intermitten fasting, I have lost 25 lbs mainly from working out and intermitten fasting. I also watch calories intake while shredding extra pounds. When I hit plateau , I added fasting hours and drank so much water. I felt amazing during the fasting period. I was able to maintain my weight during Thanksgiving because I did 20 hours fasting before and after Thanksgiving. I also noticed that I no longer have migraines. I'm not sure if it has to do with my water intake (96 oz min/ day), or the fact that I eat cleaner and fast 16 hours daily. It's amazing and I wish I had done fasting sooner. Thank you doctor Jason!!

    Fasting and a whole food plant based diet had me loose 42lbs in 13 weeks. I eat an early breakfast and lunch by 11 am and fast for 20 hrs a day. I have cheat days too, but am mostly vegan. Dr Micheal Gregor has been a blessing also on teaching my the right foods to eat. I started at 241 now I'm 199, will go to 160 lbs. I'm 51 and for the first time in months I have had no random palpitations and my knee arthritis is so much better, and my bp med is half already. I asked a physician why they don't encourage this lifestyles, I was told" we see way too many patients and the time isn't there, and most people don't wanna hear that, just want a pill". How eye opening, you really have to take your health in your own hands!!! I wish all here well!!!
