The Alto Saxophone is essentially the Trumpet equivalent of the Saxophone family. Which probably explains why the two instruments blend together better than if the Trumpet were to duet with another type of Saxophone. At least from my point of view. Though in practice, the Alto Saxophone is an E-flat instrument. While the Soprano Saxophone, Tenor Saxophone, and Trumpet are all B-flat instruments.

But the alto mirrors the sound of the trumpet by being naturally higher than the tenor and while the tenor and other one I forgot the name of can duet it won’t be near as just perfectly aligned sounding

@@Bubbasdumbscience Yeah, the Alto Saxophone is only slightly lower than the Trumpet. While the Tenor Saxophone is more than just slightly lower. While the Soprano Saxophone is higher.

Would you be willing to share your trumpet transcription with me? I have two students who would love to play this as an alto/trumpet duet

Can you please link the exact music you used, including the transposition? If not, could you explain how you transposed the alto to trumpet. I am looking for an alto and trumpet duet for a school project and this song really suits us.

Hi there! The original sheet music was purchased from the JazzDuets store linked in the video description. It consists of two alto saxophone parts. We then transposed the sax II part from E-flat (alto) to B-flat (trumpet) by writing out the notes down a fifth (ex. A is re-written as D, Bb is re-written as Eb, B is re-written as E etc). Here is a transposition table which is a useful reference: i.pinimg.com/originals/f7/cd/bd/f7cdbdb1afc15a70283aa9ea79152e84.jpg
If you're looking for a school project I'd highly recommend giving transposition a try!
