I work in a retirement community. The residents are surrounded by other residents & there’s still so much loneliness going on.
As a receptionist there, I try to listen & be there for them as much as possible 😌🥰❤️

Currently in hospital for appendicitis. I'm on a ward with a load of old boys. They must be 40 years my senior. They all decent blokes just want to chat.

Easily £20k worth of work, labour, materials, clearing away, disposing of rubbish, new roof, patching up roof in kitchen, new window, new decking, new drainage from kitchen and more... Most of these channels clear trees and bushes which is amazing but this channel right here goes above and beyond and I look forward to watching every week...☺️📺

Over £58,000 now. I've also donated. I'm disabled with carers and no living family and just one local friend. It's not just the elderly who are overlooked, it's people of all different ages and backgrounds and circumstances. Seeing the difference in Jim now as opposed to the beginning is Astounding, when you finally have Hope And Help, it truly is life changing. I am 80 taking care of my 90 year old husband. We have 2 ladies that help us and they bring the outside world into our house about 10 hours every week. It really make a difference in our lives.

I am so glad to know that you have some contact with the outside world. My Mum is 85 and luckily has my brother for a carer. She has dementia now, but she is lucky to have carers and friendly neighbours. My job involves transporting folks with learning disabilities, dementia etc. to and from day centres.
We always interact not only with the clients, but with their carers.

I just have to add. Look at Jim’s garden guys. This was a family home. A family that worked hard. Paid taxes and spent money to make a special place for their children. Jim was clearly a guys who could build and make things and he did his part. His taxes supported others. Let’s support him back. So many of our elderly in the UK have given for decades and are now forced to sell their homes and use their har earned pensions to pay for care. It’s been said already but it’s worth repeating. Reach out to your Neighbors. Help them with odd jobs. They build this country and deserve more that we are giving.
💯💯💯 Even more so, they build the country back up after the 2nd world war!! There has been a lot of quik evolution and hard work that went into all that we have today!! The elderly went through the build up years, when hard times were a daily part of life for the majority!!

Jim's Union Jack is a testament to his love of country, whatever his politics may be and he needs and deserves to have companionship. There is so much to be learned and cherished from our elders. Sadly, they are often overlooked in the hustle to make good in modern life.....

I know two things about this... taking established vegetation out of the ground is back-breaking, having just removed several bushes myself. Letting Jim help, however he can, is supremely important. I cared for my father for decades, he lived independently until 91 and cancer took his mobility. Jim reminds me so much of him, proud and wonderful, but having a hard time letting others help. You've handled him with grace and given him dignity... good work! So enjoy your channel you are all so fun and amazing. Thank you.

It is so amazing how next-door has a slither of a garden, compared to Jim's 😢..... The benefits of what you all are doing are far beyond the yard and home. The male companionship is life changing for this man. The act of getting out and moving with these men has a way of elevating the spirit and healing the mind and body. It is truly beautiful and a blessing to witness. ❤😊❤
Yes and it is also very kind of Jim to let us all see a little bit of his life and world. It can be quite difficult when a wife is very ill. My father had a similar issue in a way as my mother would not let anyone inside the house to repaint it so he had to wait until she was no longer with us and then have new windows, house painted inside etc (although very sadly in his case within 2 years he was struck with dementia... old age can be pretty nasty).
@@alinaCatwatcherit seems Norm has stayed in touch. These boys don’t drop and run. There will be other projects to move on to, but I reckon they’re not just helping their community but fixing things - they’re bringing it together too.
As a widow, there is so much that you physically and financially can no longer do. It is a blessing when someone helps you. Thank you for helping the seniors.

Having the experience of removing roots from a multi-trunk Crepe Myrtle tree and also bramble vines out back, I can say that this is truly not as easy as these kind folks make it look like. One does have a tremendous sense of accomplishment with a job well done. Much applause to you all. I've been waiting all week to be able to sit down and watch this video and it was worth the wait. You guys got so much done in this one! Jim wanting to get a picture of you all together when you're near the end of the project is an amazing idea as I'm sure they won't forget you all in a hurry, you're making such an amazing difference. I wish you were closer to us as we clean the inside of homes for free and would have loved to be part of this project when you're doing the extension but sadly we aren't set up to travel atm. Would love to do a collab if you're ever in Scotland! X
Jim's yard is HUGE - so glad to see his spirits being lifted as he feels safe to share his burdens with you and your team. We are designed to interconnect with one another - no one can do everything on their own. And I'm encouraged to think that Jim may be able to "putter" in the garden next spring with his wife on the deck watching/encouraging. Jim reminds me so much of my 95 year old father who passed away last year. I love seeing him help out any way he can. Seeing him laugh and bring out all that food warms my heart. Your idea to get Jean downstairs is excellent - you might investigate if they are entitled to any grant money from the local Social Care fund, given that Jean really needs to be downstairs, and have a wet room, and neither of htem is getting any younger.

Yes, sometimes once you start more and more problems arise - hard to know when to leave well alone or interfere with that kind of issue.
What I love about channels like yours it shows that there is a positive side to social media.. So much damage has been done over the years or at least we are led to believe that but your channel restores all faith in human beings, Not only have you restored Jims garden and home but you have restored his spirit as well...
