I could probably mention 10 other players just from the nineties too. Iniesta was basically a backup player till he was in his mid twenties. Zidane wasnt a great dribbler and modric well he is a very well rounded player but lets be real he is noone near michael level for example or saying he is better than pirlo is like ahhhhh okay yea maybe, but its not like pirlo wasnt doing things modric would never do.

Luka is one of the most complete players in the world. All the big names in football recognize its quality and the importance of its game... There is no need to compare it to the rest of the world. It's a shame that he was always overshadowed by Ronaldo in his past.

I can't believe people can say this and try to find something to back it up. Modric talent as NEVER EVER EVER been questioned by people that know about the sport of football in his ENTIRE Career.
yes it was. I watched him live from very young age, and he was sent to loans until he was like 20. Then he was given a chance and he took it. I didn't watch him at 18, but when he came back to Croatia at 19, I watched like 70%% of his games from the stands (the rest on TV). He was a difference maker from day one. The best bplayer on the pitch, and you could see it, everyone could.
Still, he wasn't the one the youth coaches in Dinamo saw making the best career from that generation. They openly talk about it today. The guy that was in charge of the youth program admits that.
I agree Modric is amazing, but that argument of yours is BS. There's loads of very common narratives in football about X and Y player that don't tell the whole story or are false. This "the majority knows" is just as accurate as democracy.

Modric started to his peak football after 30 and Kevin has hit 30 just now. These 7 years ahead will define how good Kevin is and will be eventually surpass Modric.

These two are not players you can compare directly because they are different. If you take goalscoring and shooting, KDB is ahead by far. If you take key passes , chance creation and assists, debruyne blows modric out of the water. Just check the numbers before arguing. However modrics main duty is not in the final third. Its his intelligence, passing and dribbling ability in midfield that makes him stand out, he can take out 3 players with a clever dummy or a well placed pass. If I had to pick one for my team I would go for modric but you cant say one is better than the other without mentioning a specific area.
Modric is more of a big game player; he always delivers when his team needs him. Can't say the same about De Bruyne.

There is no comparison between De Bruyne and Modric...none. Modric is in a class all his own and deservedly is debated about as being one of the greatest midfielders of all time. Make no mistake, De Bruyne is world class without a question but he is not considered to be a once in generation type player whereas Modric is. Modric is doing things at his age that should not be possible but the fact that he plays both sides of the ball and 20 year olds are having a difficult time chasing him down is a testament that a talent like his is a once in a generation type player. I will make sure to see him if he is still playing for Croatia national team for the WC here in the USA and everyone else should see him play. Enjoy him while we have him as a player because he will be a coach too.
