I absolutely love the idea of your "vintage history wall" idea for your track. Thank you for sharing the forthcoming plans and I hope you can realise that dream of a racetrack.
that is a insane gift! the wall is a great idea! insired by the wall in you old studio, I allready built my own! Looking forward to this rebuilt. A very, very great gift!
Unless the body requires a repaint, I personally wouldn't touch it. The scrapes and scratches are part of its story and the original decals should be preserved. Things are only original once.
Beautiful car! Seeing as it has boxart colours and original decals I think just a careful clean will leave it looking amazing maintaining the 40+ year age which you just can’t replicate easily
Thanks for the video it looks better without any dust on it the 27mhz radio should With a pair of Cristal work a five sell six volt battery is all that's required
Love the track idea Gavin. From my point of view I have generally been put off going to tracks as I find some people take it too seriously and my last visits to a local club years ago felt very clique... I'm not saying I want to mess about, but I prefer to focus on fun. It's my hobby so I would never want to do serious racing and it be stressful in any way, I would just like to do laps and try and improve my skills in a chilled out environment without fear of judgement. I can imagine you would be a good track owner who could manage both hobbyists and hard core racers and keep a good fun atmosphere for both and have days for serious racing and days with a more relaxed feel. I think it's a great idea and you would be an ideal person to do it.
That’s exactly how I would want it to be. 👍🏻👍🏻 It’s a strange dynamic I’ve never understood. One of making yourself feel better or above others by knowing more or looking down on others due to equipment levels. It was the same when I was a skydiver. People would always ask you how many jumps you had done and depending on the number you would be judged. What does it matter?
@@RCKickschannel Thats exactly how I feel Gavin. Thats well put and I totally agree with you. I really hope you make that a reality. I would be there for sure.
Wow, what an awesome gift! I love those old Tamiiya racing cars, they look so basic compared to what we have nowadays, but they look so cool. Can't wait to see it fully restored and back up and running soon ;)
4:51 - "...it's broken..." When speaking about an F1 car, I think of Lando's reaction upon attaining the lead at Spa a couple of years ago, only to have the car fail on the last lap, every time I hear that phrase..."It's BROKEN!"
This has so much “patina”…. Would look so good with a clean and some detail. The story and the look just adds to the whole thing! But that’s just how I feel….
What a beauty! I agree with the other comments, I'd just clean it up a bit. A lot of the repro decals I have bought off are not great. I'm going to do that with my Vintage Ligier JS9 Matra I recently bought. Main issue is parts. The front tyres and wheels seem to be impossible to find.
Great video and idea about framing the letter and putting it with the restored car , again I wouldn’t be repainting it as that would destroy the genuine look and patina of the car , it will loose some of its history if it’s really painted. I’d just repair it and clean it. I would strip the actual car though , clean it and recommission it so it all works. Cool 😎
I will run it for the show and then it will go on the shelf. I need to find a replacement front upright first but apart from that I think it will run. Well that's if the electronics still function.
Don't say it's silly, I love the idea of putting up old cars with their letters framed. I'm personally against re-painting the body as I think it has lots of history, would a good clean not do?
I have the March BMW from the series. My very first RC. These Tamiya F2 cars are very simple and charming to the brim like a model steam engine. Tamiya where are the rerereres...?
Couldn't you just clean and clear coat the body to bring the shine back and keep it original.. After all the imperfections are part of its history . ? Nice kit 👌
Noooo! Keep it original. Dont strip it and take the original decals off. Just re glue the splitter and rear wing, polish the under tray and may be do the wheels. Keep it as original as possible otherwise just loses all its history.

Fingers crossed if the channel keeps growing. I really want to build a place for people to come enjoy RC
I love how it looks as is. I’d just clean it and it would be good to go. I love the raced look.

Cool kit.
body has a nice patina, has been reasonably well painted and decals look in good shape. I would never repaint it and stick some average repro decals.

I disagree with some here, can't wait to see it fully restored and keen to see that track in the near future!
Great idea
Do not destroy this car by restoring it. It is a survivor and should be respected as such.

Looks good to me but can't wait for the rebuild video

I reckon you might be able to fit a mardave steering arm into it very basic hub assembly

Yes I think you are correct. I might just clean it up and then see how it looks. I could clear over the top of the car but I will have to see.
@@RCKickschannel looking forward to seeing what you do with it and the finished result
Really cool. Made my think of my 1st hobby grade R/C car; Tamiya's Datsun 280Z RM Mk2 (kit 58022). I wish I still had the bits
That diff is an impressive unit. I want a Ferrari 312T3. Has Tamiya released that several times and on different chassis?
I had the Renault version when I first got started in the hobby.
Great idea for a track 👌🏻
A track sounds cool. If you make an on road track ill be there alot.
I would like a dirt track and an on road. I could film so much with access to a track.
Pretty cool mate I'm sure it's going to look really good when you're finished with it I'd love to see it run again as well 🔥👍✌️
What a beauty Gaven, congratulations! Will you test it on a track or should it go into a shelf?
I will run it for the show and then it will go on the shelf. I need to find a replacement front upright first but apart from that I think it will run. Well that's if the electronics still function.
The partnumber for the broken upright is 1089

I remember that kit new in beatties....£39 pounds new in the early 80s...I got the Toyota hi lux pickup that was £129 new...a lot of money back then.
This was my first rc car, then i got a ford ranger
Might be worth trying one of the white front uprights commonly used on Tamiya cars like the grasshopper etc... If you cant get an original that is.
Hi have you got a tamiya twin detonator in your collection?
No Nick I don’t
@@RCKickschannel would you like one .
I would just clean it up and leave it as is! They are only original once!
Is that Impreza Tamiya Qd?
No it's a TA03F. Restoration videos on the channel from a few weeks ago.
I have the March BMW from the series. My very first RC. These Tamiya F2 cars are very simple and charming to the brim like a model steam engine. Tamiya where are the rerereres...?
Rere would be great for the old kits.

Yes this could be a better way to go once the body is clean.
Same thought here. I would not replace the stickers with aftermarket one's.
Yeah I agree. Love the originality and ageing.
Don’t repaint it. The patina looks great. Just fix the broken parts and get running. I love the idea of fixing these older cars.
Keep the patina, that's the cars story, just get it running.
Please don’t restore it, it’s got so much patina to it, just give it a good clean and polish, seriously 😳, don’t restore it Gav. 😎👍👍👍🇬🇧
I’d just repair it and clean it as surely the wear and tear is all part of the story like the patina on an old car.
