Neel showed immense maturity, flexibility and patience throughout the engagment. Many strong MBA applicants with relatively less work experience, tend to become overconfident of their IIT / NIT / BITS degrees + high GMAT scores, and end up applying prematurely. M7 programs are way more selective than the other MBA programs. It's important to respect that status and have a roadmap that reflects your seriousness.
Hi - I am looking PGPMX offered by IIM Indore (in Mumbai ). I am a graduate from BITS , based out of Mumbai . 18 years work experience. I am placed alright in the job . Reason for chosing the program:- It’s in Mumbai & having flexibility provided its alternative weekend . Recent QS rankings for the said program have improved too . Your views please? Many thanks 🙏
We don't have much insight into this particular program, since we haven't asked us for help with it. But as a general rule, it's best to aim for one of the flagship programs that a bschool offers. What do you hope to get out of this program? Have you spoken with others who've taken this program, what's their feedback?
Hi, would taking the GRE over the GMAT Focus affect your chances if you are looking for an MBA from a top school either in the US or outside including Insead, hec, oxbridge etc. Is there any downsides in taking GRE? Also what would be a safe GRE score in general .
Almost all top schools accept GRE scores now. So there's no downside. Check the average scores on the official websites and add 20-30 points to it - that'll be a good score for overrepresented profiles.
I am taking the GRE again but want to skip the essay. I have a 4.5 in multiple previous attempts on the essay, but I am aware that I can't superscore. I was planning to get around this by submitting all of my previous scores where it does show the 4.5 issue essay score. If I skip the essay in this attempt, how will it impact my B-School application/will it impact it at all? Thank you for answering.
Never a good idea to leave an exam incomplete. If your overall score is competitive, explore other ways to demonstrate the skills that the essay tests. Also focus on the bigger picture that your application can paint.
Hello Sir, I'm a Student of Amity University. I have enrolled in January 2024 MBA course. Now I'm confused to decide regarding specialisation I should go for.I need your help .kindly consider my mail . I'll be waiting for your response. Thanks
Yes, the undergrad degree, college and grades matter. However, it doesn't have to be a deal-breaker, if you have an overall profile that's well-balanced and stands out. Which college did you graduate from?
I'm assuming adcoms of most international b-school may be unfamiliar with it. Check out our video on how to build a strong profile for top business schools . There are other areas that applicants can work on if the undergrad institution does not ring the bell.
I need some information about MBA please help me. Actually I graduated in 2017. After that I prepared for UPSC, in which I spent 7 years. Now I am thinking of switching my career. Now, I want to do MBA in Data Science. I want to know whether I can get a good job at the time of placement after this 7 years of work gap or not ?
That's a pretty long gap that would stand out on the resume. Employers value transferrable skills and would want to know what you did in those 7 years, other than preparing for the entrance. Do you currently have a job?
I have already enrolled in a coaching for gre prep as I came to know i can apply for both MBA and MS colleges through it. Is it the right way to go about it?
MBA and MS programs are quite different in the kind of career opportunities they offer, and the target audience they are designed for. Instead of applying to different formats, think about which one is better aligned with your career goals. That way your appln strategy will be more efficient. A machine gun approach isn't recommended.
Hello Sameer, I had a brief chat with you last year.. finally I have got some space after a lots of personal and professional commitments.. I am planning to take GRE this year and aiming for an MBA in the top tier universities possibly in the US, UK or France.. my only question is that I am 34 with c.10yrs of work ex. So will I be eligible for a MBA program?
At 34, you'll be an outlier for most American 2-year MBA programs, making it tougher to get in. However, you could consider European programs where the average age is higher. You'll still be over the median for almost all regular MBA programs in Europe as well. When's the GRE planned?
Is it possible to tap the 1 year mba offered by Kellogs or Cornel? Planning to appear for GRE by November end. Also would it make a difference if I appear for GMAT instead GRE?
Those are good options, preferred by many who are looking for a second MBA. Reach out to the schools and ask them if you'd be eligible, and they'd encourage you to apply.
Hi , I was planning to do mba abroad and wanted to know if there are any scholarships that i can apply for. P.S.I have ~3 yrs of experience in a big 4 in tech Consulting although I have a 6.65 gpa in college. How will it affect the colleges i aim for?
Almost all the top schools offer merit based scholarships to a selective number of admitted students. They take the call based on the quality of profile and submitted application. Low/Average GPA can bring down the overall impact of the application. If that's your concern, make sure the rest of your application is super-strong.
Yes, CGPA does affect the odds, especially for top programs like HSW / M7. If you end up in that situation, focus on the rest of the application parameters and ensure that they're as strong as you can get them to be.

The specialisation you select should be influenced by your area of interest and also your career goals. Don't rely on what others suggest.
Does the reputation of academic institution really matters from where the bachelors degree is completed in HSW MBA Application?
Yes, the undergrad degree, college and grades matter. However, it doesn't have to be a deal-breaker, if you have an overall profile that's well-balanced and stands out. Which college did you graduate from?
College of Agriculture and Allied Sciences, Baramati, Maharashtra.

Hello MBA crystal ball team,
Could you please help me with getting information regarding SP Jain global.
Thanks
Can you share the reason for selecting this over other programs? Any reason for not looking at the mainstream Top 100 options?
