hi Guys, i am ALWAYS happy to see that you have a new posting. always a surprise and always a real treat. very cool choice of a cover song and a very cool performance , as always, be well buddies, chuck.
Ron, You did a fine job on that one. It's hard to keep up with all the new songs you're adding, but kkep them comin. They are all great to play along with . Roy SW Mich
Very nice singing and playing. This song was actually put together by Sara and Maybelle. I heard an interview of them where Sara mentioned she put the verses together from a long sheet of poetry and Maybelle wrote the music herself. She said she was inspired by the sound of the Mexican music she heard when they were playing on border radio stations in Texas.
I sure appreciate this great new information Sir. I never realized they had ever ventured so far from the hills by the time it came out. Thanks for stopping in...hope to see ya again..Ron

Hey Mary! Great to see ya here. Yeah, I'm pickin my old 1976 H-D 28 Martin. It ain't the easiest guitar around to pick, but it's laud as a cannon and just what I need to play rhythm for load fiddles and boisterous banjo's. Mike is playing rhythm on his Blueridge..Thanks for visiting.. *ron
Hey dw! I think I usually pick it maybe a little better, but when someone turns on a camera my fingers always go goofy on me..lol..None the less, I'm sure glad you like it and appreciate your very kind comment and I wish you lots of success learning it for that happy birthday coming up. My birthday also is in Jan., one day after Dolly Parton's. Actually she is one day older than me but some say she has always had a slight edge on me in the "looks" department....lol..See ya my friend..
@johnthobden Maybe the rain will finally setter the dust John, I know you folks have waited a long, long time...LOL!! I'm sure happy you stopped by, and glad you liked my attempt at pickin this old tune. Maybe i'll I try another one sometime...*ron

@manriq47 Hey Mark! Yeah, we don't have any sound system, just a cheap little ol' camera. I can't sing very loud, but I'm either blessed..or cursed, with one of the loudest dang guitars around. Since we never know when art is going to video, I sometimes drown myself out...lol..Thanks for visiting..*ron
@hopplaschorsch No, that wasn't me Marta... I probably said Earl was a pain in the butt...lol...Earl is getting pretty old, and now has cataracts..really bad in his right eye. He still loves picking and will always appear when I get my guitar. He will be missed more than I can say when he leaves me. Thanks for asking my friend..*ron
@karenmuenchen Thank ya very much Karen- Girl!.. I found some real talent over on your channel, and hope lots of folks go take a look...sure glad you came by...*ron
Hey jdylan! I hadn't ever heard that before but you're right..who knows..lol..Ol' A.P was considered the writer of the group and it IS known that he wrote at least 34 other songs each of which was recorded by at least one, and as many as 40+ artists. It could be he got a little undue credit for this one...like ya say...who knows? ...Thanks for stopping by and taking time to leave a comment...mountnmonkey..
You know, it would be really interesting to know how many AP actually wrote himself, or how many he simply put his name to. He spent many months up in the hills collecting hundreds of songs (which is one reason Sara divorced him; he was never home!). You know back then, women kept quiet a lot, I'll bet the girls wrote a few songs, and AP could have just took credit for them. All in the past anyway.
I'm guessin' your right about the girls writing some of them and A.P get the credit. No was more famous for that than Bill Monroe who stole many and bought many others for less than 10 bucks. He descendants are and will be receiving royalties for ever...lol..
jdylan Maybelle did write the tune to you are my flower she was inspired by the music in Mexico when they were on XERA border radio, though I believe the lyrics were a poem she had found
Hey NAncy! Great to hear from ya! I tried to post a reply the day you left the comment, but youtube decided it wouldn't let me post anything for a few days...lol..I don't like the "new" youtube look or lack of control we now have. ....or maybe it's just me not knowing what I'm doing...Hmmm....most likely cause I suppose. Drop by any ol' time....ron
Hey Lloyd...Thanks for coming by. I always just assumed A.P. wrote it since he wrote so many great songs, so I Googled it and Google says A.P. wrote it and who am I to argue with the internet...lol..Who ever wrote it, I'm glad they did and glad you stopped by...Ron and the gang..
good job!
