ALSO, I paid 60 dollars but it keeps saying that I have 2 weeks. It's also saying upgrade to "Premium" for another $60. dollars? It also says 'already have malware bites, activate" I thought downloading and following the instructions activated it? I'm really confused. Can you help Please! I need to activate this. it's sort of urgent. I'd hate to waste the money. Thank you
Will I only know it scanned if I hit the scan button? I accepted being notified but nothing happened on that 2 second scan? is this how long it takes to scan? Maybe I'm infected and it's blocking it?
Also- what does "Activate License" mean? I didn't see this in the purchase option. What is the "license" for? is this protection?

I’ve been using Malwarebytes from nearly the time they started. I recently bought my first Mac and it was the first thing I installed on it. It was the new Mac mini M1, awesome little machine. I have always recommended Malwarebytes it is the best. Great video David I can’t wait for the VPN video.

Another wonderful and informative video. Personally I see no reason to use the Chrome browser. Google and privacy do not go together. Chrome tends to use lots of memory and can slow things down on my Mac. Looking forward to the VPN video. Cheers David!
I am interested in the future VPN Video. I’ve installed a few only to have to uninstall because my banking apps would not open. Always had to disable the VPN to do online banking from my own home. Crazy. I hope you have a VPN recommendation that works!

Would it be extremely safe to use the mentioned practices within a virtual machine or set of fully isolated virtual machines each with fresh install snapshots in which it is extremely easy to simply rollback the machine state in the event of a malware breach effectively mitigating the damage potential?

There is a malware called cyber search. It takes over the browser and seemingly cannot get it off. Even when you go into the settings and it says cyber search has taken over and the 3 dots on the right- omg! It won’t disappear!

Great information, David. I’ve been using Malwarebytes for a couple of years. Do I need to install it on my iPhone? I know the iPhones are pretty good on security.
There's no scanning for malware on the iPhone, due to restrictions imposed by Apple. (No app can do such a scan.) It's possible (though rare, unless you're targeted by powerful people) to infect an iPhone, just not possible to scan it for malware. Malwarebytes has a Security app for iOS, but it's not antivirus (AV), so check its feature set to see if it provides functionality you want before buying. Security apps on iOS are more focused around web protection, protection against scam calls/texts, VPN, etc, instead of AV.

I like the thought of having my passwords auto generated but most websites have a character limit of 8-15 characters and auto generate wants to create passwords that have many more characters that the website limit. How do you tell auto generate to create passwords based on the websites requirements of fewer characters?
That’s one of the options in LastPass (to adjust character length)

You really don’t need Malwarebytes on your phone. That being said I do suggest you tune in for the VPN Video
I had a vpn on my phone and it wouldn't let me do anything. I had to call my service provider and they sent out a tech and as he was leaving he asked me if I had a vpn. I said yes so we turned it off and I was back to normal. I was so embarrassed I nave never used a vpn ever since. I was using a iPhone.

Following this fine presentation, I bought a license. After un long time I still do not receive a email giving me a key for license. I use the support email on site and I am given the message that the address do not exists.

On your advice in a previous video I installed Malwarebytes on my iMac. What a disaster! My Mac practically ground to a halt and was barely useable. And getting the app uninstalled was very difficult. That little icon on the taskbar is very persistent. Other Mac utube experts advise against installing any antivirus or ‘cleaning’ utilities. Given the difficulties why do you continue to push its use?

Hi, Helpful and informative video! I have two questions if I may: I frequently get on my desktop Mac the sound of a door closing, and I wondered if that was a sign of anything sinister? If I decided to use Malwarebytes, would it conflict with anything else on my computer, for example I use AVAST, the free version. What actions should I take before installing Malwarebytes. Many thanks.
There are a number of sound effects that macOS routinely plays that could potentially sound like a door closing, such as the sound effect for moving a file to the trash. Try opening System Preferences, clicking the Sound icon, then the Sound Effects tab, and uncheck "Play user interface sound effects," and see if that eliminates the sound. (You can leave it off if you don't like those sounds, or turn it back on once you've verified that it's not happening anymore.)

@@terrydavis1488 Malwarebytes should not conflict with anything else, but we do recommend that you not use real-time protection features in two different antivirus programs at the same time. That can really put a heavy load on your system.

Hard when you live overseas...
I'm not saying Macs can't get infected but In 15 years of running a computer repair shop I only seen 2-3 "infected" macs and it was simple browser hijackers. If you share files with Windows users having something like Malwarebytes will help protect them but if you are all mac on your network your chances of being infected on a mac are so slim as to be non-existent. Also there are no apps that will protect you from yourself. Social engineering is the biggest threat.
Malwarebytes on a PC is a must have.
You re not counting silent attacks, its known that apple was hiding information about some malware.
If you re careful enough on windows the chance of attack is almost zero, no pirate software.

On a PC, Anti-Virus would be the first program I'd install, but a few years ago, Apple told me that MACS do not need Anti-Virus.
The short answer is NO. There are zero viruses for Mac in the wild and haven't been in years.

For 99% of people Malwarebytes is the only additional protection they need beyond what comes with a Mac with the only other exception being a VPN (and we will discuss that in a future video)
You think there are no virus because apple wont tell you when they find it since they control gatekeeper their own antivirus , you know a virus do exist because somebody gave it a name
What people do when they find a virus? Formar the mac and you never find anything because you need to report the virus to know about it

When a virus or malware( this word is less disturbing for mac users) hits the mac os prolly corrupts a file , what apple genius does or the average user do? Reinstall..its like burying a patience with an unknown disease.

@@Teluric2 Apple users ARE more secure by default. This is a fact. Theory is one thing but in 15 years of running a computer repair shop I've only seen a handful of "infected" macs. Its just not a thing. I've also been on computer tech sites and hacker groups for years challenging them to please infect my Mac. No one has since 2007.
Theory is great but the fact is Macs and Linux are simply more secure. Period
