The thing Armin was getting at was that you can't know the intentions of the other side. They just know they're after Eren and Historia and that the government is involved, or at least the military police. Of course they're going to protect thwmselves and Eren. Of course you shoot to save your friend (in this context). But the scouts don't have enough information to be able to tell if they're morally in the right or not. That's what Levi was saying. Having someone like Armin on your team, who keeps questioning the ethics and morality of what you're doing is super important, otherwise if you're convinced you're morally in the right, and there's no one to question this view for you, you're going to become radicalised to your ideas. I think a similar character is Daniel Jackson, if you've ever seen Star Gate. The annoying nerd who always questions the military decisions but his presence is invaluable because hes typically the one who thinks outside of the strict military ethics superiority box, if that makes sense.
9:49 Actually Armin is right. These people believed in something different and it clashed against the Scouts objectives. There is no satisfaction in killing anoither person, as a war veteran would say. What's frustrating, but also understandable is that Armin has to shake it off because at this moment, the other side is trying to kill them... 13:34 Armin's parents in the balloon. Not a spoiler as this will not be tackled for the rest of the show anyway. There were subtle hints but you kinda need to put square root of 4 and cube root of 8 together.... Also, change of pace? 1 episode per video... Interesting...
Differences From the manga: Manga: The scene of the discussion between Eren and Historia about her personality takes place in a hideout near Trost. Eren gives Hange the note she made about Ymir and Berolt's conversations after Djel Sanes' torture in another hideout. Eren and Historia were taken safely inside a house while Levi moved around the city with Armin and Jean in disguise. Levi enters the warehouse with his squad to rescue Armin and Jean. Kenny's ambush occurs in the Stohess District, when Eren and Historia had already been kidnapped by the Central Military Police. Anime: The same discussion occurs at the Survey Corps' temporary hideout in the forest. Eren gives Hange the same note shortly after the Survey Corps left the site where they were hiding. Eren and Historia were being transported by Keiji in a carriage while Levi walked with the decoys around Trost. Levi separates from his squad to guard Eren's transport, leaving Mikasa in charge. Kenny's ambush occurs on Trost, who, together with his squad, is preparing to kidnap Eren and Historia at that very moment.
Welcome to Season 2 👑👑👑 Get ready for many more things that will make you lose your mind and fall in love with this masterpiece even more and more 😵💫😵💫😵💫 i'm so excited 😉😉😉
The guy tortured that gave the exemples,we know all of them,in the next episode you will see about 2 of these cases that he said, while one of them is only said by armin in a flashback where he says his parents are going to leave the walls
I love watching these reactions and the commentary on the pauses, it reminds me when I watched it for the first time except I was alone internally screaming theories, thanks for reacting!
Armin isn't the small minded one here. What he's saying is correct. It's moral philosophy 101. Armin himself has always been a pacifist, someone who believes in talking things out rather than violence or physical force. He seeks to understand others and the world. What is right or wrong? How do you _know_ that you're the one in the right? What if you're wrong? Also Levi is a 35 year old man, Armin is 15.
10:10 Oh, there's so much you don't know yet, and it's not that simple. How well do sayings correlate in this anime: 1) knowledge is power. 2) Not knowing is bliss.
Armin is a thinker, yes? He is deep into philosophy, like what is right, what is wrong?, trolley problem, Kant vs Bentham, utilitarian vs deontology-kind-of-thinking. While your thinking is pragmatic kill or be killed. We know Armin is not a soldier, he didn't make it to top 10 in the training corps. Killing another human being is a big deal for him, even if it is justified.
My boy Armin just can’t catch a break😅. Dude stepped up big this episode caught his first body, saved Jean’s life and Owen still found a way to dog on him lol
While I understand your point of view,Levi is like 30 and has experience since he grew up in that atmosphere, while Armin never fought people before and is only 15 at this moment
Not even only Armin, we can all see only Armin and Jean among their team that's really faced with the need of killing other human with their hands here (Mikasa doesn't counted here because her focus in the whole of those scene was just to taking down others, not kill, and she indeed not killing anyone there) And there even Jean, the brats of he was in his training era, sounded like he did'nt care about humanity, other people life and all and was just care about living in the safest zone by entering inner wall Military Police. Turns out that he is actually not that careless, he even hesitate to kill another human in the form of the enemy more than Armin that atleast manage to shot lol, atleast Armin still manage to keep down his moral questioning later, not let it out in a critical event like Jean did there Well what can we expect? killing human is really will not be that easy, even for these soldiers, especially if they becoming the survey corps never really expecting to kill human since they always thought all their enemy are just titans, not human
No way you're up Armin's ass because he didn't enjoy killing people and now reflects on his morals 🤣😭 these characters are whole ass children and this is way more realistic than these badass characters who just run around slicing people
Badass character? Levi? Well considering his background and his whole childhood, make sense how he becomes like that, you can even surprised he's not becoming a full cold-blooded (we know he's not really a cold-blooded right?) after those all past life experiences. You know the new short manga about his childhood right?
@@seizmicsmi'm glad my comment allowed you to rant about this man lol but I never said anything about Levi 😅 he's one of my favourite characters because of his background and personality, his badass side is just the icing on the cake
I like the way you think, it is fine to not agree with Armin or not understand him, this anime is rollercoaster about what is evil and i am happy to see more your thoughts, this anime will definitely change your point of view or at least make you think different ❤ thank you for reaction!
Yeah … Levi and Hange are committing literal war crimes (torture). Pyxis sent 20% of known humanity (including Armin’s grandfather) to certain death by having them venture outside the walls to avoid food crisis is an act we would call evil today. Erwin planning and executing battle in highly populated area like Stohess to capture the Female Titan is flat out wrong by our modern standards. Isayama has been trying to get us to think about moral subjectivity, and the dangers of blindly following orders, since the very beginning
Well, even Levi here clearly stating he doesn't know what's right and wrong. All the survey corps know and been on mission since the first is always about uncovering the truth, and since they don't know shit about what's behind the truth yet, means they can't even really sure if they're doing a right or wrong thing, they don't care if their mission would actually bring good things to humanity or making things worse, they completely don't know any of those, they risk it all to their one goal ever. Uncovering the truth. As an audience of the story, I can actually take a side on this, but I wouldn't even have insanity left in me if I were in their position, when you know your goal could affecting the humanity, but you can't even tell how it would come out
11:29 Oh, this moral aspect, you put the salvation of all mankind at the forefront, therefore you will sacrifice a certain number of people for the salvation of all mankind. And one person, respectively, too? And if that one person is your mom, will you sacrifice to her selflessly as well? Devaluing someone's life is not good, unless it is the life of a person who has committed terrible crimes that have been proven.

"Mikasa killed a bunch of people for sure!!" 🤣🤣
What are you talking about? She killed one in the cabin cause she had to...thats it.
The animation sequence for Levi in this episode took 4 months to make. There is so much cool stuff in the actions if you go frame by frame.
Mikasa's last name has already been revealed in previous episodes so if you want to look up her last name, that's totally fine.
