    Good old fashion wholesome show for the family that never strays away from greatness. Danny Thomas reminds me of a Lebanese friend I knew as a young adult.

    I was six or seven when this showed aired ... Our TV set was probably pretty darn new. A great decade for television.

    My dad bought a dodge because of the Danny Thomas show. It was so cool, I remember he brought it home, and parked it down the end of the yard. We had a garage and he was so proud. It was a two door, black and white. I was 4 years old, no kid car seats then, no safety belt buckles, we sat on our mother's or grandparents lap (back seats) and never had an accident. But the only thing I didn't like when watching this show now, was all the cigarette commercials, as I child I never knew what they were and what it meant, not till the 70's when I saw a picture in a magazine cover, a skeleton head with a cigarette sticking out if it's mouth, and the word Cancer written below it. I was smoking back then, Marlboro's straight, no filters. It was a strong cigarette. It didn't take me long to quit. Over the years, I saw many of my child hood friends who started smoking at an early age, are now gone. Most died of lung cancer, some due to cigarette smoking others asbestos, working in steel mills. Who knew back then that this stuff would kill you?

      Marlboro quit making a "straight nonfilter cigarette" in the early 1950's. You must have smoked Pall Mall. It was the only one that came in a red pack. By the way, I had exactly the opposite experience: all of my relatives smoked - and it's a family - and none died of lung cancer. One did die of COPD, however, (my grandmother) - and she smoked 2-3 packs of Pall Malls a day. Most lived into their 80's and passed away due to all sorts of diseases. (brain cancer (2), alzeimhers, complications of stroke, prostate cancer, etc)

      70 years from now people will be thinking why did those idiots take those experimental injections just because the government said they were “safe and effective?”

      What a scam. Thank goodness we finally held big tobacco accountable for their lies. Yeah, really mild, just lots and lots of cancer. Yikes.

      Sometimes they would make an actor dressed up as a Doctor, and say at the end of commercial that's the cigarette most recommended by doctors....😵‍💫

    I'm smoking a Pall Mall, drinking a scotch and watching Make Room For Daddy on my 17" Philco Predicta television. Ahh, the good life.

      A middle class mans dream come true in post WW2 USA.I've turned down the sound of the Zenith TV so I can listen to my 12 and 10 inch LPs on my Voice of Music High Fidelity record changer.It's made of blond wood and has enough room around the turn table toplace my martini glass while I'm dancing.

    What a stifling time to be anyone other than a man. Before the war women kicked ass. I don't know what happened after 1950 to make woman willingly submit to domestic submission. Maybe it was TV shows like this.

      Can we take a moment to appreciate that this very popular TV show featured a mixed-race married couple?

    • @jvcomedy
      @jvcomedy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@cowboyflipflopped Are you considering Danny Thomas and his wife to be mixed race? If so, I believe that would be wrong. He is of Lebanese descent, but Lebanese is an ethnic group not a race. Anthropologically speaking the Lebanese are of the Caucasian race. Caucasian race (‘Caucasoid’, ‘Europid’) includes people of Europe (whom we usually refer to as ‘white’, basically white = European Caucasian), Northern Africa, Middle East and South Asia. You can google all of this to verify it and you can also google multi racial couples on TV shows and you'll never find Danny Thomas on the list.

      But I guess that’s progress according to todays sub standards and low morals.

      Floyd Lawson women did not work then their job was to stay home and be the mother. It's why kids are so missed up today because the rolls are missed up. If you don't believe that then why the hell you watching old time sitcoms. Maybe you should be watching modern family.
