  • Hello my friends! Welcome to Bergamo alta! Lombardy, Italy walking tour in 4k. July 2021.
Bergamo is a unique city located in the Lombardy region of Northern Italy and is characterized by its split lower and upper sections that are separated by the immense historic Venetian walls. The Upper Town, a destination for tourism and artistic and cultural center, and the Lower Town, industrious and contemporary, are the two faces of a place in constant evolution, between past and future.
🏨 BEST HOTELS where to stay in Bergamo 👉 www.booking.co...
The city of Bergamo is composed of an old walled core, known as Città Alta ("Upper Town"), nestled within a system of hills, and the modern expansion in the plains below. The upper town is encircled by massive Venetian defensive systems that are a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 9 July 2017.
With a population of 120,000, this city is the fourth largest in the region and its greater metropolitan area has a population of 500,000.
Bergamo serves as a main transport hub for Italy and Europe with its busy Orio al Serio International Airport and is also an important economic centre for Lombardy.

In this walking tour, I will take to the majestic Upper Town of Bergamo: a medieval village, with its cobbled alleys teeming with life, shops and tourists, squares and ancient monuments, which fascinate travelers from all over the world.
The Upper Town can be reached on foot, by car, by bus or by taking the funicular, which will allow you to enjoy the magnificent panorama during the climb!.

It is good to see that Bergamo is back to being close to normal. At the beginning of 2020 the city and its province were the Italian epicenter of Covid, there was a massacre among the population, to the point that the coffins piled up and it was not possible to bury and cremate the poor dead. The images of military trucks full of coffins became viral in the world, it was a terrible time for us Italians, especially for us Lombards (even in my city there was a devastating Covid outbreak and we competed with Bergamo for deaths and infections) and I am happy to to see that our devastated cities are once again full of life.

Italian people are made of stronger stuff! Also, your sense of community spirit is so strong- it helps when your neighbours and friends are caring! And my god, the pandemic has taught us to be extra caring! What’s the point of living otherwise? Don’t go to church but be a good human being. This bad times will also pass🙏

I live in the province of Bergamo, and unfortunately no one will ever be able to make me forget that fateful date, March 18, 2020, when the bells rang the dead and the only sound that accompanied the day was that of the ambulances whizzing through the streets. The sad images of the trucks thundered in my mind ... hoping that it doesn't really happen again.

One of the good things of subscribing to the channel is you get notifications immediately from TH-cam of a new tour. "Italy Together"is becoming one of the best tours. This town is very beautiful, if I visit only for the magnificent Cathedral it will be worth it. I'm so happy the region is coming back to normal because the region of Bergamo was the epicenter in Italy for "Covid" deaths. New York City was also epicenter in the USA and things are almost back to normal. I'm living in New York City so I know what it means.

Hi Esther, thanks for the compliment!, I am happy you enjoy the videos!.
It is so nice to see Bergamo and all Italy re-starting after all the covid. I am really found of Bergamo since my second son was born in Bergamo, he has the name of Bergamo Saint Patron (a happy coincidence I guess). Let's hope things keep improving!.
      saluti!.

Its has old looking architecture from late 19th century and early 20th century.. The whole façade of cappella colleoni was redesigned and built in the 19th century, and the whole chapel restored and few decorative and structural elements were added to it in the nineteenth century. The basics of the building and the structure of the building date back to an extended period from late 1400s to early 1700s and had an original design attributed to the architect Amadeo.

Grazie Marco for taking us on tours to cities, towns and villages that one doesn't normally see on TH-cam. Bergamo is lovely and it definitely has a different look than other cities. We guess that has to do with fact that is in the northern part of Italy as opposed to cities in Tuscany or Southern Italia.
