Beautiful ride bud! And your build is awesome! Yeah, when I'm pushing 50+ mph on a bicycle I try to avoid traffic. To many idiots. Man your country is so beautiful!

Here in England G-Bikes are supposed to be illegal, but I ride mine on the highways every day and am not going to let such garbage as laws get in my way. Live Free ,and ride nasty!
Moterbike Mike here, Dude you make it so hard for me to tell my self i want one of those jackshafts too with all the bad things I've heard about them. Thanks for the ride man.
Howzit, thanks for the comment. I get you but there's nothing bad about this jackshaft kit. Any issues people have are to do with poor quality chains and components and/or improper installation. It does obviously reduce a bit of power at the rear wheel due to efficiency/resistance, but the torque improvement way outways any power loss in terms of general use and functionality. Okes without jackshaft kits must all ride on flat surfaces all day. The improvement is actually radical. Its a completely different bike compared to one without a jackshaft.
Jackshafts are awesome. Cant understand people speak against them. They are super reliable if done right and make a huge difference in the usability of the bike.

I am 74 tomorrow and just got a 49cc running, that someone left out side uncovered for 3 years. I want to turn it into a 3 speed with a jackshaft thanks😊
You’ve got it dialed in nicely 👍. I would have thought with the 29’s you’d be getting a lot of torque and no high end out of it but I’m very surprised the speed it’s giving. If I didn’t see it on video, I would’ve doubted it. Enjoy 🤟
Im actually running 27.5 wheels in a 29er XL frame. Not enough clearance for the jackshaft kit with 29 inch wheels. But i could just gear the jackshaft accordingly anyway.
So thats 55mph, and I'm from Texas, USA and you did a good job! That's a good speed for that engine. I heard jackshafts don't really give a higher top end, but I'd say they do after watching you as even with a 36tooth rear without the jackshaft I'd say 45 is pretty much top end. Again a quality build and you got it dialed in well! Also there will be a bunch of keyboard warriors telling you how if you do this and that, or you shoulda done this and then it would be better, but in reality they are waiting on their Mom to get them a new tube for their trycycle and that's the only bike they own.
Haha thanks bud. Ja they jackshaft will definitely introduce some power losses. Resistance from the extra moving parts. But the massive gain in torque in my opinion far outweighs any losses. In a real life scenario gears make a bike infinitely more usable. Id leave even more heavily moded bikes behind in a race around town with hills and traffic etc. Obviously a flat race track is a different story but thats not what i built for.
Hi, Great video to start with!!👌 I've got a big problem. I also have a bike like that but I struggle with the chain and the derailleur. please if you could help me and tell me the dimensions of the chain and which derailleur? Thanks for your help.
Thank you for your return ! tell yourself that when I am at speed 1 (largest chainring) it can happen that the chain jumps and removes itself from the front chainring!! or sometimes I feel for a second that the chain is not in the belt. worse yet, the derailleur has completely blown off!! FYI I have a single speed chain (1/2 - 1/8) Did you change the distance between the 2 front chainrings? lol the size of the message 😂
Not a problem at all, i am very happy to help. I am not understanding your situation. It sounds as if you have a front derailleur? Do you have a jackshaft? Because it cant work with a front derailleur. Please explain your setup a bit more and I will try advise what i think.
Looks like a blast! Been riding my ld100 almost everyday to and from school and I’ve thought about getting a shift kit for it but have always been worried about snapping chains. Has that ever been a problem for you? Just curious. Ride safe!
If you use quality parts and everything is installed correctly with the correct tension and alignment then you shouldn't have a problem. I have only ever snapped the main/primary drive chain which is the biggest chain which connects to the motor itself. The Chinese chains are terrible quality. I upgraded with a high quality industrial chain and it hasn't even shown any wear or stretch. The other chains ive used on the rest of the drives are expensive sram and kmc ebike chains. Much stronger than a standard bicycle chain. These parts are not cheap however. This bike was not made as a cheap form of transport, its a hobby and all about having fun. The cheapest form of transport in terms of running cost's is still a cheap chinese scooter, but a reliable brand such as Sym etc. Parts are cheap and they hardly need maintenance and they are very fuel efficient. I could be biased as I didnt really spare money building this motorized bicycle. The Ricthey bicycle frame itself if bought new costs almost twice the price of a new Sym 125cc scooter.
The reed valves, expansion pipe and muffler are a big part in how it sounds. The muffler is a carbon fibre and stainless steel silencer from aliexpress which i cut 30 to 40 percent shorter and install better fmf packing.
My friend brought one back from USA for me as i didnt trust the quality of random online sellers. I only used the pk80 cases and crank. Everything else is modified and improved.
What's the reasoning everyone switch to e bike chain? I'm in process of building jackshaft bike and was curious what everyone did to make pedal side chain to fit.
Well done! You should try it with a Shimano Nexus 3 speed, you will not be disappointed. I started with a derailleur but hated shifting so frequently and chains hate being out of alignment under power.
Nice Ride. Drivers must get scared when they see a Bicycle pass them. Dodge them Potholes and watch out for the Taxis. Where in S.A are you. I am in Durban and have built 23 Motorized Bicycles, over the years.
Its a sram 10 speed cassette but i locked the derailleur limit so it only goes to 9th gear. If i buy a new cassette and derailleur one day i might try an 8 speed. Its nice to have many ratios because i can always find the correct gear to help the little motor, but the downside is that there are so many gears to go through when i need to change fast... though my gear selector can skip through 3 gears at once depending how i push it.
HELP bro I have a big problem! My chain goes off the rails every time I turn the pedals... how many iron washers should be put between the 2 plates? moreover I have the impression that it is twisted when I turn the pedals 😕😕 I'm waiting for your answer
Washers and spacers are different for each bike build. You have to do whatever is necessary to align and true the sprockets and chains. What do you mean when you say it's twisted? What's twisted? And what 2 plates are you speaking about?
Ok is see. That wobble is ok. It wont cause the chain to come off as long and the sprockets are aligned roughly in the centre of that movement. That wobble is movement in your freewheel bearing. Mine is exactly the same. You can fix that with a very expensive double bearing but its not necessary. What's more important is the chain tension. The motor must also not move and flex in the frame else it creates more slack in the chain as well. A new chain must be stretched in with use and then tension must be adjusted again. What helps a little more is a chain tensions like i have but its also not necessary if you tension the chain correctly and have strong motor mounts.
Do you have a sickbikeparts kit? I think the cheaper Chinese made kits aren't as good. Your kit may be giving you problems and may need improvement. I only know the sickbikeparts kits but have heard of people struggling with the cheaper Chinese kits. But nothing is impossible to fix. Maybe your freewheel bearing does have some worse wobble than mine as well as your chain tension.l is wrong. And maybe your motor mounts and tensioning system needs improving. I have the standard heavy duty freewheel bearing from sickbikeparts. I purchased their extra heavy duty one too but never used it yet.
Good afternoon, you made a great ride video, I enjoyed watching it. I have a question for you, what is the durability of a bicycle transmission with such a powerful engine?
I haven't had to change chains or cassette yet but i use a high quality steel sram cassette and kmc ebike chain which are very strong. They are no showing and unusual wear.
@@MotorizedBicycle1 Five years in one chain and casette? This is impressive! I planned to install an jackshaft on my motorized bike, I was worried about the safety of the bicycle transmission.
The kmc ebike chains are really strong, but im also not harsh on the gears. I change carefully, and i use the clutch when i change even though it's not necessary. Also, i dont ride the bike often as I have other vehicles to commute with. I dont see any more wear on the chain and cassette than i do on my standard motorless bicycle.
