Let it Die content update (Dec 2023).
They've added NEO DOD floors. 50 levels where the only viable gear is DoD Faction.
I take the mid-tier weapon, the hammer.. and try to beat the whole neo dod tower.
Weapon/gear challenges in LiD usually allow mushrooms/food consumption too.

Man, I haven't thought about this game in AGES. I remember being fascinated when it was first teased and all, another Grasshopper game with a new twist, and I dug the aesthetic when it came out. But man, the grind, the GRIND! And the cashshop stuff, god, it was brutal. I don't think I ever got around to finishing the game myself, which is a bit sad. I had no idea it was still going and even getting new content.
Now I'm torn between jumping back in again or not... Might have to dig out my old PS4.

Floor 40 is where the OG game ends. It’s where the game actually feels like it was designed by a human, albeit a sociopath.

I started this game a few times but i never went past the tutorial. Seeing all the cash grab and the painful road to have a decent build made realize that it was a good thing i didn't invested too much time in this game, anyways, great video!

man the first 40 floors of this game were incredible. I fell off around the steel superbosses but I managed some tengoku runs with the rifle cuz I had a really good decal setup. how new does this content feel to you compared to the other stuff? also if i get it on my ps5 can I still use my character? I'm Datura btw if you were in the discord like 6 years ago
I wasn’t around then.. uhh, so this content is cool in that the “meta” builds and guns etc dont work so we all had to get creative and play the game in different ways to progress again.
I think it is consistent with ps5 yeah

It's unfortunate that with higher floors being just haters that means the same sound byte and battle theme playing every single time you get spotted by one.
That could haunt your dreams.
That aside, I wish I could find the time to at least finish the base floors, even with how slow the grind is I find the game pretty fun.
And those themed floors seem like a pretty fun mixup of things.

I would play with “tower radio” on but it’s a gamble because some of the tracks get copyrighted and silenced.
And the ‘hater alarm’ horn still plays anyway. Its annoying
A problem I think a lot of Let It Die players have is they don't set their sound settings. If you play without voices the game is a lot more chill and enjoyable. The horn blare is annoying but it catches your attention to what might be an instant kill move or a difficult fight so I kind of like how obnoxious it is

Yes. Its just hella grindy, unbelievably so, whether you whale or not.

Do you think it's possible to enjoy the game and get the most out of it without pumping money into the microtransactions?
I remember when the game first came out, I was having fun with it. But then I hit a precise moment where I was killed by (what felt like) an unfair trap. At which point the game presented me with the option of dying (and losing all my stuff/progress) or paying money to respawn. That somewhat tainted the experience for me. Apart from that I quite liked the vibe and the gameplay of the thing.

i think up to floor 200 is feasible without premium currency. Just be prepared to grind a LOT no matter what. The game does hard gear checks very often. I would’ve quit at floor 23 if i didn’t join the discord and get schooled back in 2021
There are a select few players who’ve reached the tippy top (351F) with all “free” gear but they’re the extreme minority.

It’s primarily used to “uncap” your Grade 6 fighters to 7-8.

@Blinge when you say "this is the one new asset they made", realistically, the asset was made before 2015 when the game was developed and was just left unused in there until they had content that used it. gung-ho is wholy incapable of making anything new.

I haven't thought about this game in years and suddenly your video pops up to haunt me. What an awful P2W game this became on the higher floors. It really surprises me that they still update the game, especially after Let it Die 2 bombed so hard that people forget it even exists.
It is possible to bridge the gap with skill. For example - reaching floor 350 is something i did during a free revives event - i only spent around 10 death metals reviving.
(very hard to avoid when you have bosses that are huge damage sponges that kill you in one hit)
But the gacha decals definitely have an effect. For some reason.. all the best players seem to have the best decals 🤔.
In theory, you could get them by using free currency, but its a monkeys and type writers situation.
Ok you convinced me I will play this game, see how far I can get as a f2p player before going insane (I'm poor)

Lmk how it goes. Some advice: your death metals are best used for upgrading your storage in base: do NOT use them to revive. Its not worth it. Better to just take the death and use another fighter to buy the corpse back with coins
@@BlinJe I'm saving death metals to buy mushroom soup but idk if it's worth it now that you mentioned storage space, getting DM looks kinda hard-ish witouth buying them
@@keyman245 yes it will take a while. The mushroom stews are normally shite. wait for an event, and even then, it might not be a good lineup.
DMs for storage space is utterly necessary for storing upgrade materials, and it's a guaranteed improvement to your situation. Rolling for mushroom stews on the other hand, is a gamble.
join a big team like tokyo and fight at least one successful raid in TDM. (aim at low level players)
that way when the war finishes (and they're often) you'll get 1 DM.

I will also need to farm some more normal coins later, I got two one star maxed all-rounders and so far game is fun, gotta play some more today when I get time

Why do people hate this game so? Play better or pay for it, what’s the big problem with a free game? That has amazing artistic appeal and pseudo dark souls crap movement that forces you you make good decisions on play style, I get not liking “pay to win” but it’s a free game, I’d love it if you could show me a “better “ game that resembles this one if you disagree
