  • Harvey Brownstone conducts an in-depth Interview with Gordon Thomson, Renowned Actor, Co-Star, “Dynasty”
    About Harvey's guest:
Today’s special guest, Gordon Thomson, is an iconic actor who’s brought us some very memorable performances in a career that spans 6 decades. He is perhaps best known for his portrayal of the evil, yet dashing “Adam Carrington” on the blockbuster TV series, “Dynasty”, for which he received nominations for a Golden Globe Award and 3 Soap Opera Digest awards.
But his body of work extends FAR beyond “Dynasty”. On the big screen, he’s appeared in a number of great movies including “Explosion”, “Leopard in the Snow”, “The Intruder”, “Man of Her Dreams”, “Little Miss Sunshine”, “Poseidon”, ““Afterburn / Aftershock” and “The Experience”.
And on television, besides his role on “Dynasty” and a whole slew of guest appearances and made-for-TV movies, we remember him as “Aristotle Benedict White” on “Ryan’s Hope”, “Mason Capwell” on “Santa Barbara”, for which he received a Soap Opera Digest Award nomination, “A.J. Deschanel” on “Sunset Beach”, “Walter” on “Days of our Lives”, “Preston Regis” on “DeVanity”, for which he received 2 Indie Series Award nominations, and “Maximillion Winterthorne” on “Winterthorne”, for which he received another Indie Series Award nomination.
And on the stage, our guest has performed in everything from Shakespeare to Ibsen. He’s starred in “The Fantastiks”, “Godspell”, “King John”, “Love's Labours Lost”, “The Imaginary Invalid”, “A Month in the Country”, “Loot”, “Eastern Standard” and many more plays.

I was a little kid in the 80's and remember my mom watching Dynasty with me. Now I'm re-watching all the Dynasty seasons on Plluto Tv for free and it's never looked better and Dynasty airs 24/7 on Pluto. Seems remastered and looks incredible and Gordon and Jack Coleman and John James were all so ravishingly handsome. Such a great show! Best season are 1 to 6 and then the amazing season 9. Great interview and thank you, for chatting to fans Gordon :)

Having just watched a recent interview with Gordon Thomson in Los Angeles, I am thoroughly impressed by his outstanding presence and eloquence. It was a revelation to discover how incredibly fine, versatile, and clever he is as an actor. Beyond his on-screen persona, there’s a palpable authenticity and depth that speaks to the real person behind the roles. Hollywood is known for its relentless challenges, and one can only imagine what he has endured and overcome in such a demanding industry. His resilience and adaptability shine through, not only in his diverse performances but also in his thoughtful and engaging dialogue off-screen. It’s clear that Gordon Thomson is not just a talented actor but a survivor and a genuine individual whose journey in Hollywood is as compelling as his career.

When Adam first came on in season 3 of Dynasty he looked spectacular. The cheekbones, the strong chin, the sparkling eyes. I always thought of him as the most attractive man in Dynasty, way ahead of John James and others...

Listening to guys like him is a real breath of fresh air, I think. He's someone who really loves and has very well-honed his craft, and he comes off as quite genuine. Now, being where I lived, there was a lot of theater going on (yes, community, but, still...it was a stage, right?) so I did quite a bit over the years, and I miss it these days - not the theaters or most cast members, but just...doing it...just becoming a character. Truth be told, I did have a bug in my head to make up my own stuff, which is much more satisfying, so I switched to writing - whether it's received well or poorly, that's all right. I just love doing it. I may no longer act, but Thomson is one who can still inspire me in my own craft with his own.

Great interview, Harvey. I enjoy listening to Gordon Thomson talk about his experience on ‘Dynasty.’ I especially love the catty digs he gets in about various people or events along the way.
The one thing I wasn’t aware of was how he came out. I hadn’t realized it wasn’t of his choice. That was shitty. Unfortunately, he loves his career but if he wants the kind of roles he’s had, remaining in the closet really is the only way to achieve that.
And while he lists the things he had while in the closet, the one thing he didn’t mention was love. I find that sad. Unless he’s one of those who didn’t need love.
But the one name you mentioned that I haven’t thought of in a while was Terry Lester. I still remember him as the OG Jack Abbott on ‘Young & The Restless.’ I loved Terry in that role. Sadly, he’s an actor no longer with us. But one of the actresses Terry worked with on ‘Y&R’ is Deborah Adair, who would go on to play one of Adam’s love interests on ‘Dynasty.’ I would have loved to hear his thoughts on working with her…
    But, again, great interview.
I don’t know if you’re ever able to arrange it, but would love an interview with Rupert Everett… keep up the great guests and interviews!

    ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! DISHONORABLE
The term “dishonorable” is an adjective that
describes actions or behavior that bring shame or disgrace on someone or something. It implies a lack of integrity, morality, or respect for ethical standards. Here are some key points about the term:
Shameful Conduct: Dishonorable actions are those that are considered shameful and unworthy of respect1.
Lack of Integrity: It suggests a person’s actions are not guided by an ethical or honorable code of conduct1.
Moral Disrepute: Being dishonorable means engaging in behavior that is morally disreputable or unacceptable1.
For example, cheating in a competition, betraying a friend’s trust, or lying to gain advantage are all considered dishonorable behaviors because they violate societal norms of honesty and integrity. The term is often used to describe actions that are not just wrong, but also bring a sense of shame to the individual involved due to their unethical nature.

36:31 - I loved Thomson's comments on the Dynasty re-boot. Not only that, but I also love and agree with his comment on Eluzabeth Gilles (Fallon). I also loved her, thought she was the best and I also liked Nathalie Kelley as (what I've just found out) the first "Cristal". My God, I had no idea there were 3 Cristals. I'm sorry and glad I stopped watching. Fallon and Cristal were just as engaging as Fallon vs Krystle in the 80s. CW was lucky to have those two actresses in the roles.

This is the first video I've seen of yours where I came away disliking the guest! LOL. He's definitely one of those high maintenance people. The exaggeration of his story about being hit on, decades ago, is telling. Either he's conflicted about his own sexuality or he's playing the prima donna. Something just doesn't ring true. I've heard other guests briefly reference their political beliefs in the manner of this is what or whom I'm FOR. He's the only guest who felt it necessary to BASH a political individual. I also thought it was interesting that as someone who identified as Canadian (unsure if he kept his Canadian citizenship) , he spent some time basically bashing America in various ways. So that rubbed me the wrong way! LOL. And in general, his demeanor is so high drama. And his calling out of various people or projects as "stupid" also gave me the impression that I was watching an emotionally immature person. I remember this actor from back in the day and actually liked him. Funny but what I liked about his acting I'm thinking I dislike about him in real life. To be fair, I've never been one who warmed up to DIVA like personalities. I don't like it in women and I don't like it in men. I think Mr. Thomson should have taken his cue from fellow Canadian Ruta Lee. In her interview with you, SHE comes across as a grownup. And while she touched on her political persuasion, it was super brief and only mentioned, in passing her pleasure at being part of her political persuasion. She did not feel the need to bash anyone. So yea, this was the first interview of yours I turned off before the end. What with all his hand waiving, and physicality and well the whole RUTH CHATTERTON of it all I had to turn it off and have a martini. YOU, however, were great as always. SO glad I discovered you! You run a tight ship and treat your guests like royalty...and you let them talk! LOL
