To know what ingredients to use to make potions just eat one of each and it will tell you what they do, then you combine two or three that have the same effect and create the potion. When enchanting items they will probably be a little weaker than you expect until your enchanting gets significantly higher.

Lydia can carry an infinite amounr if you drop items then tell her to pick them up. Follow the ask her to do something prompt on her conversation list. then click on the items you want her to pick up.

Make sure Lydia has decent weapons and armor or she won't be as good in battle. If you give her magic items to carry she will use them, including Staffs.

1:20 lydia as you're houscarl can follow you to fight alongside enemies. But also be careful she can die by accident kill her using your sword but shen can survive with one health remaining so don't attack too much close to her. Hope this might help you
