Sunrise sometimes makes those Gundam shows that's not named Gundam to try to experiment with something that doesn't normally fit with Gundam. It has all the usual Gundam traditions like a rival having a red Mobile Suit, or a rival having blonde hair, or a rival wearing a mask. Also the traditional deserted island episode and the psychic nude scenes. The experiment with this one is putting more focus on the psychic Newtype powers instead of the Gundams themselves. The result is basically one of the greatest masterpieces of all time.
