Theory: Kat got super sick at last year's gala, and was so sick she was close to death. Dr. Crayon made a deal with Baltus to give him a potion (for a price) that would swap the health of someone else (Anne, in this case) with Kat's. When Anne drank the potion, she died and Kat got better. Baltus continues to be indebted to Crayon which is why he continues to make consistent payments, though it sounds like Crayon is wanting to increase the price now.
So, I got confused as to how Kat's mom would have written a book about "herstory" before 2005 when that term has only become popular in recent years, BUT, when i looked it up, it turns out the term does date back to 1970. You learn something new every day
So, I made a preliminary timeline here: 1609: Henry Hudson, Henrietta Hudson, and Frederick Storms set off to sea. Henry supposedly founds Sleepy Hollow and appoints Ambrose Van Tassel as mayor 1600s: Anneke Storms founds girls orphanage and disappears a year later. Captain Gravy meets Juniper Lebouf in Sleepy Hollow. 1770s: Revolutionary War, Headless is born, Cotton Van Tassel becomes mayor ~1995: Main characters are born in Sleepy Hollow ~1995-2000: Ichabod loses his parents and moves in with his grandmother 2005: Elizabeth Van Tassel dies (Kat is 10) 2009-2013: Kat, Matilda, Brom, Babes, and Spike all in H.S. together. Spike has encounter in the woods that traumatizes him and turns him emo, separating him from the other babes. 2013: Creation of the yearbook with Kat's ominous message. ~2010-2013: Max encounters Woman in White at Raven Rock (based on the iPhone 4 reference) ~2013-2017: Kat tries going away to college, but drops out at some point and returns home. love this Mark character. totally brilliant. no notes whatsoever. also, excellent mustache. oh, and in response to the subtitles question....technically, yes. The Jaws theme conveyed so much in three measures with only four notes, but this one is a lot happier and has a funnier cast behind it, so that's a 2 out of 3 victory for you guys😊 (sorry, my movie theme nerd stepped out. love you guys!)

this series is so incredible. in a span of like five seconds i laughed, felt empathy, and feared for my very life - the acting is superb. the writing is fantastic. the atmosphere from the set and sound design is bar none. that dunks be looking lukewarm and watery tho 😂
Possibly my favorite episode so far it’s so hard to choose! Sinead’s grimace laugh was amazing and everyone and every silent expression conveyed so much!
