- Here’s my first Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood video. I really got into this show recently, and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys a show like Avatar TLA. Mustang and Hawkeye are such great characters and they make a hilarious duo sometimes-I knew I had to make this video.

I mean....I wouldn't say he "goes toe to toe with Wrath", considering that the one time they came anywhere close to fighting, Wrath wrecked him in less than five seconds 😂 (Bradley dodged his flame alchemy, leaped onto Roy and skidded him across the room, impaled his swords through Roy's hands, and pinned him in place until Pride performed the transmutation to make him the fifth sacrifice) The better third example would be Roy taking out of that roomful of Mannequin Soldiers that Ed, Scar, and the chimaeras were struggling to defeat.

Arakawa really knows how to write all her characters. Literally _ALL_ of them have memorable personalities and moments.

and they arent stereotypical as well, everyone has multiple aspects of their personalities , for eg: alex louis armstrong is strong, has muscular build and stern face ( which are typical attributes people often associate with people of cold personalities and narcissistic attitude and is known as ' MANLY' ) is so soft , sweet , caring with a kind heart and who also sheds tears after hearing every other random emotional backstory( which is so not typically manly as men in society are told ' why are you crying ? are you a girl?')
Except for the lady Armstrong.
A lot of the female characters were one-dimensional, simply there to break existing stereotypes.
@@anuragpradhan7500 awful take, just because armstrong broke a stereotype didn't mean she was one-dimensional, she had her whole own army and unique and interesting takes as their leader and what respect is. Man just god awful take here.
The thing I love about the drawing is it looks like your sister put a lot of effort into Hawkeye and then made Mustang a stick figure and that's beautiful

I love how neither of them exchange any romantic dialogue with one another, as well as not explicitly pairing up at the end but we can still see how much they love each other. That's good writing right there.

I wanted a platonic relationship cause it's rare to see good siblings chemistry without it being weird in anime. And this is one of them for me

I’ve wondered this as well and now the ship name just sounds cuter. Plus Royai looks like the word Royal and it’s canon that Roy calls Riza his queen.
Honestly, I feel like they are at a point post shipping. To much water down the drain, there was something between them, but they chose duty and it is just to late to go back on that, their dynamic is already to set professionally. They will never not love eachother, but they would not work as a couple.

Of course! That's the only reason Roy has that ridiculous weakness - because otherwise he'd be just too OP. Even Homunculi, who freaking use Philosopher's Stones like they're candy, called his ability "problematic". Like, mad respect.
Yeah the writer thought of clever ways to nerf Roy so the series wouldn't end early. She does that like everytime Roy is fighting an important battle lmao

I have actually told a friend when describing this show that the characters are written so well that 3 or 4 of the side characters could have been the main character.
In my mind, Mustang, Scar, Ling, or maybe even Hoenheim could have been the main characters.
@@skippingstep1515 you just listed all my favorite characters haha. And “most platonic romantic relationship” is the perfect way to describe Royai. They’re relationship is so unique and part of the reason I love that pairing is because Mustang and Hawkeye are incredible characters themselves.

Then I remembered Mustang literally had plans to overthrow a king, defend an entire nation, and eventually, keep the world from ending. Priorities, you know.
I do wonder if they tried to start a relationship after the story though.

@@lillysim1512 Not just that, but I'd personally prefer development where he (and Winry too, I guess) realise that his size really doesn't matter, and that he's awesome even if he is small. And yeah, can't make fun of him anymore.
I love how Roy's voice actor can do his badass moments as well as his goofy moments without feeling unnatural and out of character.
His dub voice actor is the same one for Takashi Morinozuka (Mori senpai) from OHSHC so I when I started watching FMAB I was immediately like: “Mori is that you?”

Currently rewatching FMAB right now and I completely forgot how funny and loveable Mustang was. He could be the main character of his own series in another universe.
It's been at least 10 years since the series ended and I'm still wishing for a spinoff where Roy's the main character, probably ending it with him and Riza finally getting together or something

I remember watching this with my older sister and when we watched the final episode she asked me what I thought (she watched this waaaaay before I did) and it went like:

I honestly love the Captain/Subordinate or Colonel/Lieutenant relationships. Anytime a character is devoted to protect their loved one is a win for me.
YES ME TOO-I always love a pairing where one dedicates their life to protecting the person they love. I’m also a sucker for the whole “always by your side” thing.
@@sfedits6613 One of the reasons why I like Royai, and ship MobuHan from Attack On Titan. Moblit is always by Hange's side and that's so sweet, and plus they had a lot of moments in the Manga.
@@megumisdivinedogs I was also thinking about AOT! I love Hange (obviously) and I haven’t read the manga but her love for Titans is adorable. I was also thinking about Eren and Mikasa; they’re similar in the way that Mikasa is devoted to protecting Eren forever.

Roy: is a smart man, good strategist, knows the exact ingredients to mutate a fake body, has decent knowledge on science, still forgot rainy day makes him unable to fight.
Roy messing around on the radio's and having fun definitely one of my favorite moments of him. That scene never fails to make me laugh

Riza: “No, Sir”
Roy: “I promise I’ll come back”

I think this best exemplifies the relationship between Roy and Riza

Roy and Riza’s relationship is unique. In most stories, it’s about a couple falling in love through the course of events. Roy and Riza are already in love. It happened before the events of FMA. While we don’t see them fall in love, we already know they are. It’s clear as day.

Most people who work for him probably aren't aware of that dynamic. The whole "her dad was his master, in the Eastern Martial Artist, 'becoming an apprentice means marrying into the family' sense" thing is already lost on most of the audience, and that's more than people get in-universe.
I remember Grumman talking to Mustang about marrying his granddaughter, without explicitly mentioning that Riza is his granddaughter lol. I don't think anyone in-universe outside of their families know they met so young though.

TECHNICALLY the only reason they arent "official" is bc of military stuff. Like arakawa herself stated they arent together bc of the military. Implying if one of them or both of them weren't in the amestris military then they'd be together. But I think there's laws in amestris that prevent it.

There was also a scene when the old lady at the bar (I forget her name) told Roy to go play with Elizabeth when he was feeling down.
