Why the baby knife? I open my packages with a sword.
You should get a katana for your unboxing 😅😂
i was gonna say the same thing LOL
I was going to make a "That's not a knife", Crocodile Dundee comment.
Chainsaw 😂
These fish have been on my bucket list! I'm currently setting up a 75g and want to add shiners. I'm glad these fish are getting celebrated! We have some seriously underrated native fish!
YES! Pro move sourcing from Justin. So glad you're happy with them too
The tip about shopping around specifically looking for hobbyist bred fish is something I wish I'd learned sooner. The difference between what you'd find in most stores and online retailers Vs hobbyists fish is absolutely night and day. it's also a difference you can't quite comprehend or appreciate until you go down that route.
Thanks. Enjoyed this!
got white clouds from that breeder - super happy with them and him :)
I got baby rainbow shiners last week. Didnt think about different quality of strains. Im a bit stressed now that mine are gonna be ugly 😂
Hoping for the best. Happy for you and your beautiful new ones!
Green water is great fry food! Also, a great way to jump start a summer pond is to use water change water from an established aquarium. I generally go with a 50/50 ratio.
Wow! How beautiful.
The way i understand with rainbow shiners is that they get those amazing colors when they are in breeding condition so your plainer ones just might color up as soon as they hit breeding size/condition.
Can’t say I was expecting to have a big ass knife waved at us in your video opening 😂
Wow! Huge difference. Nice haul.
👍♥️👍
He has the best rainbow shinners by far. Imo. Thanks for sharing
Am I the only one who would be way too impatient to get those fish out of those bags?? Definitely would have gotten some hot water from inside to get the temperature to match way faster. 😅
Yes, really annoying, fish welfare should come first
Ya, and a little salt for stress, parasites and develop slime coat.
Awesome video as always !
What kind of camera are you using to film this one? Looks great!
They're beautiful... Also check out rainbow darters! Native species represent!
😉🤙🤙☺️
A real pro who respected the fish and the breeder would have facilities/pond/aquarium ready to receive the fish the moment they hit the front door.
Shorts and a tank? Summer is indeed right around the corner
Love the Crocodile Dundee letter opener
Another great video🎉 Those new little guys are A-mazing! Thanks, as always, for sharing with us what you do! 🙌🫶👊🙏
Thanks as always!!!!! :)
😂I'll try to be more original next time! 👍
@@thomasdeansfineart149 hahah you rock! 🤙🤙😎💪🏼
I bought 12 from this breeder at a local club meeting and then bought 12 more from him directly. They are currently my favorite fish in my fish room. The colors they flash when feeding are amazing! Just be careful, I had a couple jumpers which prompted an emergency run to my lfs for a cover.
I'd have been tempted to take the existing rainbow shiners out of their pond and put them into the new setups and put the new shiners into the long pond.
he cant collect all the eggs that way i think thats why
Why don't you float the bags in the pond to equalise the temperature?
probably better to wait for the water in the pond to match the temperature of the bag rather than the opposite
coincidently today only i found dynastys channel in the morning
I keep shiners, fatheads, and common Pennsylvania minnows.
My next one to collect and tank breed would be the Long Ear Sun Fish
The shiners I got from Aqua Huna look just like yours, but mine don't hide so much. I do have lots of plant cover in my pond though. Lilies and Amazon Frog bit are what I have for cover plants. You might try some frogbit or lilies in your ponds to give them some cover plants, and maybe they won't hide so much. I also put a tray of river pebbles in the bottom of the pond for them to lay the eggs in after watching the White Cloud Dynasty videos.
how long have you had them????
I got them May 8 of this year.
I bought a dozen rainbow shiners fro. Aquahuna at the beginning of February and they are now very colored up and doing great. I ended up with mostly males; only three females in the group. So very colorful group of males coloring up to impress the females.
A hunting knife to open the box lmao. Good looking fish
ima need to buy some of them from you when you get some babies. Ive been looking for good rainbow shiners for like 8 months.
the catfish in my 450 died and im thinking of adding tons of moss and floating plants then putting my white clouds and shrimp in it hoping hey will breed enough for me to never have to replace them lol
Great videos! I noticed you have a low tank in your fish room, maybe 8 inches high by a couple feet long. Do you have a video on that type of tank? I have been interested in setting up a small nano tank like that. Thank you.
2:13 what kind of plant is that? And what are you using for substrate in it's pot? Thanks!
do you have any tips on how to get rid of cloudiness in your pond from sand? I just set one up on Friday and its still very cloudy and low visibility. I thoroughly washed my sand before putting it in.
How did the first seller manage to breed the rainbow out of the rainbow shiners? Seems counter productive
The fish are amazing!! I gotta get my pond fix from you- i live in rural area and not crazy about attracting snakes, hawks, eagles, etc. also have a Labrador retriever that wont stay out of water as it isA
ahhhh ya dogs and cats can be a little bit on an issue. Ive also heard recently frogs can mess with em too, especially if theres a bunch of tadpoles involved....
Dude, for a hot second, I thought Kyle O'Reilly started a channel about fish keeping 😅
They are beautiful. I’ve moved and am still getting things organized. All my fish are outside in big tubs (three 110 gallons and a 200+ gallon 6x2x2). I want to get some shiners for the 200 gallon because of its 6ft length. Would they be okay with endler/guppies and some rainbow cichlids?
ive heard they can be a little fin nippy... but im not sure. havnt mixed them with smaller fish yet, if you try it Id just watch em closely
I am very happy that you have new high quality fish. If the others do turn out to be all females you could send a male from the new fish over to do his thing.
I missed the name of the fish he put in that were yellowish/tan with blue fins... what are those?
They're quite fetching.
Not fish related, but those conifers look great 👌
Thanks! hope they live forever!!!!!!
I was inspired , we don't have Japanese Rice here in Maryland at our box stores Petco, or Pet Smart, But I was able to find Golden minnows, I think 🤔 they are called feeders . I did get Chinese mountain minnows plus golden mountain minnows the pond can go from 73 degrees to 88 my only concern on a 90 degree day I hope my little guys can handle the heat. I have papyrus growing in the mini-pond I hope that will help to keep things cool.
Now that's a knife
Oh shoot- I was gonna say that and you beat me to it! 😅😅
@ 18:16 it looks like one has a really badly bent spine?
hi.. sorry for my bad english, i just want to ask this off topic.. can i boil dried leaves for tannins? cooldown then put it to my tank while my bichirs are there?
TIA..
than
Yes, you can do this.
Make sure that you are using safe leaves.
Be aware that tannins will change the pH of your aquarium.
@@jessl1934 thank you so much. godbless sir.
@@MADMUSICENT. You're welcome
Fish rooms are never done😀
rightttt hahhaha
Do you have to cover them or move if there’s a rain or storm??
I dont really get rainstorms in the Summer, but these have a drain hole!
how is your jawline so immaculate
How big of a tank in a home for the shiners would you say?And are they friendly with other fish like guppies snails and such?
I dont they they are super friendly to other fish, still doing research on em
@@AQUAPROS Dang, well keep us updated with what you learn.
They're so beautiful I love them but I don't want to put them in an unfit place.
Thank you for taking the time to respond to me❣️❣️❣️
Isn't the teal pool noodle camoflauged already in a stereotypical pool?
👍🏻👍🏻
It's not going to hurt to mix them fish mix up all the time in the wild 100 of different species I have done it and it worked out great
Sun's out guns out
One of the males on the right at 18:17 looks like he has a wonky spine…
Metropodile Dundee
I my opinion you should put 2 actual aquariums up outside.
One for the first group of rainbow shiners and one for the second group.
So you can study the differences.
Are the first group really all female?
And that way you can appreciate the colours way better as in a pond.
Why the heck would they punch the tag through the side of the pot...
Where can I get some platinum rice fish ?
I got minee from aquahuna
@@AQUAPROS are they listed as random sparkle rice fish? I don’t see any
@@PokeGummy tbey might be out of stock? They are "platnum galaxy"
@@AQUAPROS thank you!!
Is water wisteria banned where you are? They've been banned here in the UK for a few years, best plant ever for spawning fish outside
I really wish we could keep them, but then again it’s illegal to have rice fish outside isn’t it?
@@csharpe5787 yeah from what I've seen recently, didn't realise honestly. I used them to spawn wakin and jikin outside, so good, water lettuce just doesn't quite cut it
When did Kyle O'Reilly start making fish videos?
Why didn't you put the better fish in the established box?
I could!
Big ass knife still couldn’t cut the tape ?
Mate stop waving your hand over the fish. At 16:25 , when in the bags, they are freaking out. Again at 22:25 when in the tub. I know you talk with your hand as part of your presentation style, but you also talk about not stressing them out.
You're right about buying from small breeders, but I think they are much older fish than the other ones. I would rather see them in a tank as they have more vibrant colours on the sides. Beautiful fish either way, jealous I can't get them here in Oz.
The White cloud dynasty is a good channel but unfortunately I don't have its talent to reproduce fish I tried but without success at the moment
What is up with people using a manchette (way too large of a knife) to open a relatively small box? Seriously never heard of a box cutter. It should be part of your aquascaping tool collection. I mean you give all these tips and safety tips to keep aquariums safe and healthy, then you go use something like that knife to open a box?
Im sure it was for comic relief to use a knife that large
Aqua Huna sucks, got some ricefish and 3 DOA and the rest died a day after
Why not prep your receptacle, including water, before your new fish arrive?
@@edwardcoh4899maybe u didnt follow the steps on the paper they gave you? its been 3 days since i got mine and they all seem healthy
It’s not that serious, calm down.
1 min gang
sheeeeesh! 😎
however fish shipped is a cruel and human predatory method...
They didn't look happy
Everything ships these days which can get you things you wouldn't normally get
How… how do you think they get to fish stores? 👀
Chlorines gas off in 24 hour if the water is not agitated any... any agitation at all actually speeds that process up.. Using dechlorinating chemicals for aquarium water like AquaSafe (which is what I have used for decades, takes care of the chlorines and metals in tap water for immediate use.... and when starting a new tank I ALWAYS siphon a gallon each from 3-4 other established tanks for their beneficial parameters and the new tank gets established at least 3 times faster...
Chlorine yes, chloramine no.
Chloramine is becoming more widespread in municipal water supplies and if your local water supply switches to using chloramine they almost never notify people of this.
